This MTV unplugged performance is LEGENDARY for the behaviour of the crowd. The sole reason why DC was at MTV unplugged in the first place was because Chris was famous for the crowd knowing every song by heart. So don't ruin the epicness with stupid comments ^-^

Hands down this is the most in tune crowd ever... :D

Apparently the people complaining have never been to a Dashboard Confessional concert. Chris loves it when everyone sings along. He actually encourages it!

I can’t stand the overwhelming nostalgia I feel watching this. It’s too moving for me. I love it, tho.❤

At the turn of the millennium in America we couldn't afford therapy, so we bought tickets to Dashboard Confessional shows instead. I was lucky enough to see Chris playing solo before he got successful enough to pay other people to play as a backup band for what has always been a one-person musical operation. Those early shows I attended in little clubs and bars in the Midwest became psychologically cathartic gatherings for damaged young people who vibrated with the earnest, raw nerve feelings Chris was expressing. I have never before nor since those shows seen more single-ticket holders (nobody with partners nor friends) file into a venue to see live music. We all knew every lyric and every pause. Then this performance hit television and later was included on a DVD with the live album release. It's the closest any of us has to a documentation of those early solo shows before Chris got his sue from the music industry. Thank you to the person who uploaded this and keeps it available.

Always come back to this set every so often. The intimacy and warmth between the band and crowd makes this a really special live set to me. This will live on forever

i think having the audience sing along makes the song just that much better i can't really explain, but the powerful lyrics are emphasized by the audience singing. it just goes with this song.

There are so many of us out here who occupy the message this song delivers, so humane and authentic to reveal the depths of our lives.....much love to Dashboard Confessionals

I won't comment whether this song was made better or worse because of the audience singing along but I'll just say one thing. There's a certain type of energy in a live show that just can't be captured in a studio and anybody who has ever been to one knows the feeling. You become a collective consciousness when you start singing along with the band. It's such an amazing feeling and just enhances the whole experience. If anything, this video manages to convey that feeling for just a tiny bit.

Recently I choose stay apart from a person, who whom I loved really much. Every time I came here to hear this song, I think that the worst thing of breaking up is you still like songs that you used to hear while you was in this happy place.

Okay, this is 2018, and I used to listen to this song back in 2003 or 04 or whenever it came out and I was a little kid. And my childhood was so bad, maybe that's why I always liked these songs by dashboard when I was 6 or 8 or what ever, but now I'm going through a breakup with a former bf of 4 years and I suddenly want to listen to dashboard... And I feel like I was almost..always meant to listen to this song..

Now being almost 25 and having the job that i have now... i never had such a long relationship with anyone before.. And I can't even express to anyone how it feels to have someone wrapped around me every night for 4 years and suddenly they've left me, and I all of a sudden have to pretend at work and in front of everyone that I'm okay, just so I don't look like a patbeic piece of shit and like everything is okay, even though every day and every f*cking moment a piece of me is missing.. This song is honestly too on point

if you want to hear a band music then you listen to a cd. if you want to feel a bands music and the kind of emotions that people who share the same taste as you then go to a show. sing all the songs out of key, yell them at the top of your lungs from the bottom of your heart and feel your life melt away in the comic beauty that is music.
