Well, It's not exactly like he just got his powers taken, it was he HIMSELF who lost the powers because he didn't believe he was needed OR that he was even WANTED as a hero. He didn't even know what that meant anymore, after what happened with Green Goblin/Norman who he actually looked up to in a way. Someone who he respected as a leading professional in his field. Same with Doc Oc in a lot of ways. He looked up to Octavius, thought he was brilliant at what he was trying to accomplish but realized that Doc Oc couldn't stop himself.

Sam Raimi Spiderman is special to me because it's a part of my childhood and I remember those times when my grandfather will take me to cinema whenever there is a new Spiderman movie. I grew up without a father so he is somehow my "Uncle Ben". He passed away a few months ago and found myself going back to this song.
