I heard this song/saw the music video for the first time like 5 years ago at six flags while waiting in line for a ride. I didn't catch the name of the band or song, and failed to find it online, so I always hoped that one day I would randomly stumble upon it again... Today was that day :) #happiness

Fernando The Music Guy I know how you feel because I was doing some work as director of my summer-school program and I had originally pulled up another Dashboard Confessional video, and you know how "autoplay" links one video to the next and so on? Well, I had to minimize to see what song this was. This is a great song by a great band!

The song is about reclaiming yourself. Whatever you have become today, deep within you is a child who is pure & innocent. It's never to late to go back to that child you once were. The lady struggled to find herself but was able to do so at the end. :D

I'm 13 years late replying to this but to be fair, it took me more than 10 years to really understand this song. I was only 15 when this came out in 2009 and while I loved it, I didn't understand what it mean until I really understood. I'm 30 now reading this comment just reminds me of how I also struggled :)

Down in a local bar Out on the boulevard The sound of an old guitar Is saving you from sinking It’s a long way down It’s a long way Back like you never broke You tell a dirty joke He touches your leg and thinks he’s getting close For now you let him just this once Just for now And just like that - it’s over [Chorus:] Don’t turn away Dry your eyes, dry your eyes Don’t be afraid Keep it all inside, all inside When you fall apart Dry your eyes, dry your eyes Life is always hard for the belle of the boulevard In all your silver rings And all your silken things That song you softly sing - is keeping you from breaking It’s a long way down It’s a long way Back here you never loved You’ve shaked the shivers off You take a drink to get your courage up Can you believe it Just this once Just for now And just like that It’s over [Chorus] Please hold on - it’s alright Please hold on - it’s alright Please hold on Down in a local bar Out on the boulevard The sound of an old guitar Is saving you [Chorus x2]

Wow what a song and video captures the essence of New Orleans and Bourbon St. Three years later live up north it is beautiful here and the air is so clean. But miss New Orleans and the wild west atmosphere and the Oz . My other places I miss are the Rawhide,Phoenix, the Pub and Lafitte's spent alot of time in those places with my friends just relaxing and watching the world go by.

“Music is all things to me,” Carrabba says. “It’s a respite from real life, but it’s also a place to contemplate and begin to understand what you’re going through. Music can clarify how things are affecting you.” Thanks for sharing this amazing video. God moves through each of us despite our fallen and sinful nature. A great theological look into the life of Belle of the Boulevard! Thanks Carrabba!! - Troy

I have walked that street so many times when I was younger. Miss the Big Easy and Bourbon Street since Katrina washed away so much of New Orleans she has never been the same since. who live there. Left in 2008 due to the murders and violence and it was the hardest thing to do. Don't regret leaving just regret what happened to such a beautiful city and the people. The video was great and like a mini tour of the Big Easy.

Yes but this current generation Is made by people who were born in '90s and early '00
@ashpoweredbypen16065 жыл бұрын
@@playmaker1014well many people now even coming from the 90's and 00 blended in, otherwise they won't fit with the majority and that includes the artists/bands/musicians. What I am saying are the times back then, not today.. because some will have to change in order to fit in to what's more generally accepted. Crap music now becomes popular because of hype and because more wants to belong in what's recent, regardless if it's not quality.

Elizabeth Collins You're right.. I really really would like to have this kinda stuff when I turn on my radio, but it's just shitty songs everywhere..
@betsycollins6019 жыл бұрын
And they are played over and over again ad nauseum, while so many peripheral-album songs by great well-known bands go unplayed. That's what I love about KZbin, one video links you to another based on your interests and tastes. I have my own playlist and listen to radio only when I am driving.
@TheBlackjack1829 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly.. It's funny that when I drive and I happen to hear a cool song (it happens rarely) I turn up the volume and I'm like so happy ahah but as I said it happens rarely so I take with me my iPod and I just play stuff like Dashboard. (:
@betsycollins6019 жыл бұрын
When I hear something I like on the radio, I immediately search for a scrap of paper to jot down part of the lyrics (because so often, stations fail to announce the song/artist). Then, when I get home, I google the lyrics, learn the name of the song, and buy it Amazon! I love Dashboard Confessional anyway. Chris Carrabba was a sped teacher in public schools long ago and since I too am a teacher, he gets extra respect from me! That is a great song!
@TheBlackjack1829 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah you can be sure that if you like that song, they won't announce name and artist, but they do when you perfectly know the song (and you don't like it ahah). And yes, Dashboard are awesome! Chris is awesome as you said, but I love Mike Marsh's drumming. He's brilliant, his technique is awesome! So you're a teacher? This is cool! Oh I forgot to say that I don't know if you noticed but it seems that Chris never gets old... He is lucky!
