From all the videos I have seen in about 10 years and counting coming from the US, most of you just drive like utter idiots! Doing everything else BUT paying attention to driving the car and watching the traffic around you! And most of you blame others before looking at your own bad driving! You truly drive like morons without paying an ounce to your surroundings and acting accordingly to situations you come across. I have owned and driven a couple of american cars, I like them, but you all have also understand that your driving around a 2 to 3, maybe 4 ton murder machine if your not paying attention when driving it! EU cars are lighter and easier to stop, having a weight up to around 2 tons, most weigh less than 2, they and are way better to control and stop. But still it's all up to driver that's behind the wheel controlling the vehicle, it's nobody else's fault (in most cases) but yours!

Yeah. The amount of people just driving through like red means go is shocking. Police need to ask for their phones, check to see if they were sending text messages at the time of the accident, then smash the phone, in the interest of public safety.

Just looked it up, apparently is a common issue. Which is very bad Combination of the speed limit being at 50 in such a road, next to a wealthy side of the town, and its a recipe for constant disaster. Also doesn't help that it's next to a park, so you have people crossing the street. There's also a nearby highway exit already, so I can imagine people coming home from work, already tired, going at high-speed and probably just tunnel-visioned and didn't notice the red light until it's too late. At that point, just add some warning lights. Tell the drivers there's a stop-light ahead.

@@Razgriz_01 Yeah, there is clearly an engineering problem with that intersection. Mostly because it's not just the exit ramp/50mph that is running the light but the cross street is as well. It's possible that the stop-lights are not properly set so you can see the light or other means to make people just not see the lights until too late. I live in a place where there are two lights in close prox and during the early AM hours the sun makes it impossible to see the light, which is a dim LED to begin with, is pointed at the wrong angle so that makes it even more dim and the the sun directly on it washes it out. People run that light all the time. Even I have. I try to be extra careful but you tend to lock on to the light further on rather than that particular intersection. If a few people run a light, it's a them problem. If hundreds of people are running the light AND it is coming from more than one street (cross street), and there are significant accidents then that means there is something else that is a root cause. It's a bad intersection.

If there’s traffic blocking your car from finishing that maneuver, then you do not enter the intersection until it’s clear. But you’re correct on the no right on red thing. I even waved as to say thank you because I can’t block the intersection. My boyfriend is a horrendously bad driver & now that I have a car, I try to run my own errands so as to not be a nagging, nervous passenger. He pulls out in front of people while he's driving too slow, changes lanes narrowly avoiding side swiping them. He drifts out of the lane or drifts onto the shoulder and drives with only one hand. I just looked up the intersection after Googling the KZbin channel about it. They call the intersection Friant Roulette, and that is also the name of the KZbin channel. It seems like part of the confusion comes from there being lights above the turning lane that tell people when it's okay to turn, but then only one of the two lanes that goes straight has a traffic light above it. So people seem to get confused in the right hand straight lane when they drive up and don't see a traffic signal above the lane they're in. Someone else speculated that the right straight lane drivers get confused by there being a turning lane to the right of them that often has a green light when the straight lane has a red, so they see the traffic to the right moving and have no light above their lane and look over to the right and see a green arrow and think the green applies to their lane also. It seems crazy that accidents at that intersection are so common, but they haven't redesigned the layout.

If the person passed out (not just fell asleep) or otherwise stopped being able to control the car, it can just drift off the road like that and appear that nobody's correcting it. The person's foot would still probably be on the pedal until an impact caused it to slip off, hence why the vehicle didn't slow down until after crashing into the wall and sustaining so much damage. I'd bet that person suffered some major medical problem. Even a drunk or sleeping driver would have shown SOME reaction to going off-road, even if it was a wildly inappropriate one.

I can tell you for a fact that driving in LA vs. Palo Alto vs. Mendocino County are all vastly different. I'm sure the same is true for different parts of Florida. My experience in Florida most recently is driving from Miami to Key West. On that drive I was blown away at how little attention people pay to their driving; people making turns and pulling out of parking lots without any situational awareness whatsoever; lots of left lane campers that precipitated 8 or 9 road rage incidents I saw on the drive. In my corner of California I see road rage maybe 2-3 times a month, and we have our share of clueless drivers but it was nothing like what I between Miami and Key West. I may have just been visiting on an off day, or perhaps there is a tourist factor.

No signal yes, though people should understand big trucks with trailers and shi are permitted to overturn and or use the lane next to it (this varies based on states) plus the car was pretty close to the truck before switching lanes and was more than likely in his blind spot until too late.
