this was fantastic. one of the very beset tutorial/overview videos i've ever seen which is not an easy task when it's such a behemoth of a module. i've watched a couple of times and because of that i have a pretty good grasp on most aspects. the one part that i really enjoyed and piqued my interest was the section using a dual quantizer on the left and Enigma Jr. on the right. just lovely, but i really need to ask a question if i may: how do you have that patched? would you mind describing or explaining it in a bit more detail? i'm guessing you're cross-patching right to left? the camera is just a bit too close to see for sure, but i'd guess the output of the Enigma is going into the quant, yes? if you could be a bit more clear on this patching i'd be so grateful! once again - stellar video - thanks so much!
@DashGlitch10 ай бұрын
Thank you! and yes, Correct - Enigma into the quantizer, Enigma is like a bank of turing machines or RNG's which can loop, they are great for creating sequences but are often atonal, so the quantized keeps the generated loops in key :) side-note, check out the alternative applet (in the select/save menu) called Darkest Timeline, it's a mix of a sequencer and Enigma with a bit of quantizing built in, it's a bit obscure but it's really fun to play with and reminds me a lot of the enigma quantizer combo
@samyamasutra10 ай бұрын
@@DashGlitch thanks a ton - that helps, and i will check out DT - but for a dummy like me (lol) can you tell me exactly how you patched Enigma into the quant on the left side? it's probably obvious to you, but O&C is still an Enigma to me! thanks!

o_C looks very nice. Being a DIY guy I have been thinking about a generic module with CV and audio capabilities based on a Teensy 4.1. This not only boost the performance a lot (going from a 72 MHz M4 processor to a 600 MHz M7) but also adds USB Host possibilities. I guess it's time to start building a next generation o_C and start playing with some extra applications for this. Most of my rack is genuine MI modules, so I have a lot of these functions already, but there are some great ideas in there that I don't have, or haven't learned how to do yet, which makes it look like a worthy addition. One question, if you please - Will the CalSynth uO_C run all the same firmware updates / alt firmwares as the original 14hp? I don't have an issue with rack space. I will be buying some modules off CalSynth though, as the original MI modules are long since discontinued, and his clones are the only realistic way for me to find them, and his prices for brand new modules with 2yr warranties and smaller hp are the same or less than original used copies. Since I'll be getting his clones of grids/branches/peaks, I may as well get his uO_C too.

After watching most of your video (excellent stuff), I went and installed Hemisphere and started to have a look around. I have to say, I'm surprised that you are so excited about this firmware, yet you've not - if I understand correctly - really looked at the original firmware? Hemisphere's strength is that it can run as two apps. However, in comparison to what the original has (and does) is really more complex. As an example, in Hemisphere you have a couple of LFO apps, but very basic. In the original take a look at Quadraturia, a complex quad LFO with multiple shapes from very simple to very complex. Then, have a look at Piqued a quad envelope generator, which can be looped, and so used as an LFO too. Several sequencers (some using shift registers, others as note sequencers), all with the possibility to have multiple patterns, chained, looped etc. And the list goes on, you should take some time to have a look around. Anyhow, it's great to have the possibility of both apps, but to make it into an even better utility tool, it would be fantastic to be able to have both firmwares installed in the/a suite, and be able to choose (without reinstalling) one or the other.
