Thank You... Thank You.... Thank You... This has inspired me to take a deep dive in Hemispheres. I recently installed my OC module into a small case alongside Maths, 4ms SMR, and Percall. The goal has always been using OC as the main module driving patches. This walk through along with your clear explanation have shown me how to creatively accomplish this goal.

great video! I modified the code for burst to include a probability setting, sort of like like the clock skipper so that I can set it to burst for example only 5% of the time. super useful change! clock skipper btw is super-useful if you think about it as a trigger skipper rather than a clock skipper. it's like trig probability on elektron machines.

Great clip. Hemisphere is a fantastic module. It gives you two cool modules that can be whatever you want them to be. Swiss Army goodness for weeks! But, don't discount the original O_C firmware. It is sublime when you take the time to explore (it's also more elegant than hemispheres IMO) Swapping the firmware is very easy - so don't be afraid to go back and forth Or better still, build two of them!

Massive job mate, big appreciation! I hate to have neglected my O+C awesome depths.. I had an Octatrack headache for far too long, lol... Just randomly skipping to that BitCrusher sound has me exited! LoFiTape sounded lush af too (in our hands at least) I think the Hempisphere is no brainer for O+C, stereo fun and double utilities. Just too often becomes an ADSR and a rhytmn generator due to the limitations of my rack. But how did I nopt have been using this stuff... That Mixer alone is just a perfect addition. Should build another for myself!

I am so happy to use this module for some time now, great with a very compact setup like mine (palette 62HP). The only thing missing to me is a melodic linear step sequencer like in the original firmware like Sequins. but you can always switch back to original firmware, it is just sad it is not bundled together. o_C looks very nice. Being a DIY guy I have been thinking about a generic module with CV and audio capabilities based on a Teensy 4.1. This not only boost the performance a lot (going from a 72 MHz M4 processor to a 600 MHz M7) but also adds USB Host possibilities. I guess it's time to start building a next generation o_C and start playing with some extra applications for this. With real audio in/out you could also create a VCO, VCA, filters, samplers and much much more :-D

this was fantastic. one of the very beset tutorial/overview videos i've ever seen which is not an easy task when it's such a behemoth of a module. i've watched a couple of times and because of that i have a pretty good grasp on most aspects. the one part that i really enjoyed and piqued my interest was the section using a dual quantizer on the left and Enigma Jr. on the right. just lovely, but i really need to ask a question if i may: how do you have that patched? would you mind describing or explaining it in a bit more detail? i'm guessing you're cross-patching right to left? the camera is just a bit too close to see for sure, but i'd guess the output of the Enigma is going into the quant, yes? if you could be a bit more clear on this patching i'd be so grateful! once again - stellar video - thanks so much!
@DashGlitch
@DashGlitch 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! and yes, Correct - Enigma into the quantizer, Enigma is like a bank of turing machines or RNG's which can loop, they are great for creating sequences but are often atonal, so the quantized keeps the generated loops in key :) side-note, check out the alternative applet (in the select/save menu) called Darkest Timeline, it's a mix of a sequencer and Enigma with a bit of quantizing built in, it's a bit obscure but it's really fun to play with and reminds me a lot of the enigma quantizer combo
@samyamasutra
@samyamasutra 5 ай бұрын
@@DashGlitch thanks a ton - that helps, and i will check out DT - but for a dummy like me (lol) can you tell me exactly how you patched Enigma into the quant on the left side? it's probably obvious to you, but O&C is still an Enigma to me! thanks!

Damn, this looks awesome. I've heard the name so many times as my rack has been building, but never looked into it until now. Most of my rack is genuine MI modules, so I have a lot of these functions already, but there are some great ideas in there that I don't have, or haven't learned how to do yet, which makes it look like a worthy addition. One question, if you please - Will the CalSynth uO_C run all the same firmware updates / alt firmwares as the original 14hp? I don't have an issue with rack space. I will be buying some modules off CalSynth though, as the original MI modules are long since discontinued, and his clones are the only realistic way for me to find them, and his prices for brand new modules with 2yr warranties and smaller hp are the same or less than original used copies. Since I'll be getting his clones of grids/branches/peaks, I may as well get his uO_C too.

They're so significantly different that it's hard to choose, PAMs is the best at clock stuff hands down, and the 8 channels is enough for almost any sized rack. O_C is more of a replacement for a bunch of the other utilities, like voltage generators, attenuators, modulations etc.

I never used my µO_c with the apps I had too much menu, in the end you don't even understand what the hell you are doing. You convinced me to install hemisphere and basically have a powerfull usefull tool next to my disting EX.

Altho I cant find this mode on the hemisphere official list, there is only the attenOff mode. I tried searching for the word "invert" on the modes list, but also couldn't find any mode for that :/

very cool, I wondered if I'd do it in french, but I'm sort of lazy, even if I use this lil beast on almost every patch.

Like Pam's this is one of the no-brainer must-have modules that I cannot use because the display size is not compatible with my poor eyesight... This trend for miniaturisation should be reversed, we need bigger displays/fonts NOW...

Isn't modular eurorack supposed to be building blocks of synths instead of menu-divey do-it-all modules?
@methyod

@@SimpleTrax yeah too bad they banned analog single function per knob modules and you can only buy digital multimode modules now. Seriously, I don't get comments like this. Are you a cop? Why on earth do you care if other people like modules like these? No one is making you use them.

honest question: how is one supposed to remember all of this? i mean it's an insane amount of information that isn't really there to remind you later in a gig for example.

Some of the extended O_Cs don't work with hemispheres (firmware in this video), so make sure with the manufacturer before going that route.
