Drexel in the 1950’s was still top of the line. You found a great piece. Imagine the sofa length that would ordinated with that table? Long and low. So 50’s! Great restoration. Carol from California

What a great idea. Thanks for the tip about using a utility blade to flush-cut the epoxy putty. So obviously as soon as one sees you doing it. An excellent way to avoid heavy sanding (and the risk of sanding through the veneer) but trimming with a knife had never occurred to me. Thanks!

Before you apply stain or sealer, you could use a very wet q-tip just on the dark stained area, the water will raise the grain, then you can sand with 120 and it should remove a lot more of the stain.

I've always wondered why noone ever stain the legs and aprons prior to reassembling. In my experience it's easier to get a uniform stain on the pieces if I stain and give one coat of varnish before I reassemble.

This is really nice work!! Just wondering if the oxalic acid worked so well why not try a second application to remove the large ring? Does it not work well if applied a second time or would it have another unwanted effect?

Dashner, you used to discuss how you got a piece and what you paid for it - The treasure hunt is a part of the journey! Be nice if you consider working back into your videos. Also, interesting to hear how/if thrifting/yard sales for pieces has changed for you over the years, if at all? Iirc you even had a video in the past where you took people on a trip to a thrift store? But maybe I'm remembering another person's video?
