I am so impressed with the detail! I commute everyday on that route and it just looks like the real deal! I even recognised my friends apartment, my work place, the station architecture, the scenery, pretty much everything. The only thing that is different is that you arrived on time. Generally the RB or S-Bahn are 5 to 15 Minutes late. It's so scary seeing where you live in a freaking game. I mean.... I even saw my Ex- girlfriends house and the street I live in..... chills... Generally german train stations are very clean in comparison to the US, UK and many other countries. So it is pretty accurate the cleanliness of the stations.

You purchase tickets on the train or on the station/next to the station. Train staff then patrols the train to check for tickets. That's nearly how it is in scandinavia aswell. The sound reducing walls are due to ICE, it makes a lot of noice because it pushes a lot of wind at high speed

Squirrel In Germany and the Netherlands I know that the signals have dynamic speeds. In Germany, the triangle down with a number means that the next signal has the 80 speed limit enabled. The triangle above the signal is the dynamic limit.

yeah paul, all is good and well, and you are doing great, but you have to be more in the cabin to watch the signals! the digital 8 meant 80km/h. arrow down = comming up, arrow up = from here! watching the scenery makes a great youtube video, i know, but that's not what a traindriver can afford to do all day ;-) Greetings, Harm.

Hi! I love your train sim videos! :) One thing I've noticed is that you seem to have trouble stopping at the right place on the platform. One tip, you can find the distance to where to stop on the platform just to the left of the ETA in the box where it says the next station! It counts down and tells you how far you are from where you need to stop when approaching a platform :) I hope this helps!! :D It's not criticism! I just posted this because you say have trouble finding where to stop :) Thanks

Squirrel For this scenery it is actually worth to read the manual, since this train simulates LZB very good and you have actually the feeling how driving a train feels if you are in the cab of a very modern one :-)
@Xoron9 жыл бұрын
You know, the signals are completely sufficient to play the game if you leave the passengers alone and let us see the view from tha cabin only. You won't even need the sideview with all the speed limits and signals. And for the signals and displays: The digital numbers on the track are variable speed limits and are used for switches for example. A yellow number inside a top down triangle announces the tenfold value as a speed limit coming up in 1 km. 1 km later, the same number in white is shown in a properly oriented triangle. Those limits are always coupled to light signals. The same system also applies to fixed speed limits (narrow bends, etc.) but the numbers are not shown on digital displays but rather on metal plates about 1 m above ground beside the track. The green digital displays and the yellow arrow in the speed dial in the cabin belong to a system called LZB. It gets activated when you drive onto main lines and it's announced by a small plate by the track where it says "LZB". The yellow arrow is your current speed limit, the green LED number is the upcoming speed limit and the center green bar is the distance to this upcoming limit.

yellow numbers under the signal means there is a speedchange at the next signal (6 for 60, 8 for 80, 16 for 160, etc) white numbers over the signal means there is a speedchange at THIS signal the green thing in the middle is a rangeindicator to the next signal/speedchange but only when LZB is enabled/aviable (the black cable in the middle of the track) and u may have to activate the sander to get better breaking performance

Little bit disappointed that you weren't using PZB and SiFa, then, on the other hand, perhaps you are not experienced with it, so it's cool. The LZB scale in the middle of your cockpit shows the distance in meters from your current position to either a change of speed (shown by a new speed limit in the field in the right gauge) or the distance to a complete halt, shown by three zeroes in that same gauge. Watch out for the little "bug", how you called it, if it goes under your current speed (because of a lower speed limit), you'll receive an emergency braking. Also, as I'm always driving with all the train safety systems on, I don't know whether you have to press PZB free at the end of the LZB line, if they are on you'll again receive an emergency braking if you fail to do so. Regarding the braking, try to hit 60 km/h at the start of the platform, as soon as you are at that point apply the brakes with around 80% of force, with the DB 42x classes (not the 420 though) you'll stop perfectly at the "H"-Signs. Feel free to ask questions if you didn't understand something, I'll try to explain it in another way, as English is not my native language. Greets

***** If it is a stop without a signal, a board will be put next to the track which is white with black diagonal stripes.
@fringestalin62639 жыл бұрын
The thing between the speed-o-meter and brake gauge is part of LZB in-cab signalling. It is the distance until the next speed limit measured in metres. It normally displays it as the vertical green bar unless the speed change is over 4km (4000m) away, and then the number like 9900 will appear instead. It will normally stay at that if it is further than that and start to reduce the closer you get. This doesn't show at speeds below 160km/h though, so you need to activate PZB with CTRL + NumPad Enter before you start the journey. Hope that clears it up a bit.

And also at departure at Wiesental the 8 means to travel at no more than 80kmph. All you have to do with the number is to times it by 10 and then that's the speed limit specified by the signal.

Squirrel, yes the game is pretty annoying with the speed limits. But if you read this, it may clarify it a bit. Basically the game has a well-known bug, and that is a mistery why the developers won't fix it. The little track side view at the button displays speed limits wrong VERY OFTEN. The only thing that can be trusted is the signals. You spotted a >>yellow>white>will

I wish someone would start modelling the London Underground in Train Simulator. Any reason why that can't be done?
@ggspikey41709 жыл бұрын
Dovetail have said that they're not going to do an underground line anytime soon, because a lot of people complained about the London - Faversham (HS1) line is in tunnels for too long, so a line where it is even more underground is unlikely. They said this in reply to a request of the Channel tunnel with Eurostar. However, there is no reason why a third party company or individual can't build it.

@anglosaxon58749 жыл бұрын
The green number is warning you of the speed change approaching. The metre bar is the distance to the start of the speed. Actual speed limit [where you are now] is under the speed you are doing [in white]. Bahnsteig = platform. The 8 [in the black upside-down triangle] = 80km/h, 12 = 120km/h etc. Depending on the colour is if it is actual or a warning before it starts.Yellow = warning and white = start. You went round a curve that's why it was 120...then on a straight 160km/h. You don't want to derail it do you? lol Don't forget 100mph = 160km/h. The black letter H on a white background [on the platform] = Halt...where you should stop. Good video but I wouldn't employ you as a driver! lol

Very nice. In regards to braking points, in reality, at least on the British networks, it's usually down to route knowledge. Drivers tend to make mental notes of landmarks next to the track so they know when to start braking.
@DominicLondon9 жыл бұрын
Electricfox And I'm guessing at underground stations there'd be a marker.
@Electricfox9 жыл бұрын
Most of the deep level underground trains are computer operated now, the driver just presses a 'Go' button and the train drives itself to the next station, those that aren't rely a fair bit on the good brakes that the trains have and seeing the station lights XD That and you're usually not going faster than 40-50mph, so the braking distance is lower than overground trains.
