When SQRL said "Although i would have thought it's fairly hard to break a bulldozer" it reminded me about my worst delivery in ETS2. I had Jazzycat's military trailer pack installed and i took T-72, came up to one of those nasty lane drop offs and my trailer hit that green cone in between lanes at 80kph or so... my tank took 35% damage from that.

I really wish that in this game, they just gave you a destination, and you would have to plan out your own route with more options for how to get there. Then make it so that some routes that might be shorter, would have more chances of obstacles and problems that could cause you to re-route, whereas longer routes might be safer but will take you longer.
@JohnDCrafton
@JohnDCrafton 9 жыл бұрын
+Forcemaster2000 The default route the game gives you is usually the "shortest" but it's not always the quickest or the best. You should be rerouting anyway. The automatic routing is just like plugging an address into your GPS. Not having that done wouldn't be realistic as most trucks have a GPS these days.

+Forcemaster2000 Technically, you don't have to follow the route advisor. It's just a driving aid. Especially before the waypoint markers were available. I used to ignore it quite a lot in ETS2, especially in the latter half of the game when I went exploring.

On your point of Vehicles with Reversing Sounds, I worked back in the day for Securicor (Now G4S) and we used to have vehicles that would announce, " Securicor vehicle reversing" so at lest the criminals knew we were about. The other point was on different cars and how you felt I'd driving fast, I had a Nisan Micra and when I first got it to use to go to and from work, I was driving down the M62 checked Speedo to see I was doing 80mph, so those little vehicles can catch you out. Another enjoyable episode Thanks Paul 🚔

There are many monitored speed trap zones in Germany where it will go from no speed limit to 100km speed limit for absolutely no reason. No towns or cities anywhere near by, no tight curves or construction/obstructions and no overpass where wind gusts or blacks ice (in winter) could suddenly become an issue. These speed traps will only last around a KM or two and then go right back to no speed limit.

When it comes to drivers Ed, mine sucked completely, it consisted of the "instructor" taking four of us out at a time while the rest were suppose to read the manual (unsupervised) which meant mostly people goofing off. Luckily my parents took the time to educate me on the Do's and Don't most of which I paid attention to. At 31 I've only had two tickets when I was younger, one the scumbag got me JUST as we both crested a ridge. The other time the cop claimed I was being wreckless when I swerved to avoid a guy who slammed his brakes. The only one I had trouble with was the first one really, because they wanted me to pay the fine (I did) and an online course I forget what it was about but I did that too. However I didn't do something arbitrary like using a proctor but I had the certification proving I did the course. The city of Quartzsite,AZ hounded me for *SEVEN YEARS* before that dissapeared from my record. To this day I REFUSE to stop in that shit hole and wish them a deficit that makes somolia look like Broadway.

19:24 - Maybe that's a good thing though, the player being lured into spending money on stuff they don't need, realising later there was a better way they could have done it to begin with. Provide the choice, let them learn from mistakes, try a better way next time. A lesson for daily life perhaps. :) 21:40 - What I find interesting about that, the floating cars, is that it tells one something fundamental about how the game world works. Namely that each car is not an independent entity within the game world which obeys a basic set of physics rules and responds accordingly (even if in a simplified manner), ie. an object which has 4 ground contact points and thus should by gravity be upon the ground surface, the rest of the object oriented to match. Either that or the visible landscape surface does not define the actual ground surface, which would be even more weird, ie. why define the ground surface twice? Definitely something mighty peculiar in how the positioning of moving objects works. With a sensible model, one does not then have to artifically code in something like how a vehicle responds to a speed bump or a pothole, it will dip or rise at the relevant corner(s) automatically, suspension not withstanding. Presumably there was some benefit to doing it the way they have, easier physics perhaps, but clearly it means more manual fiddling later is needed to correct for the mismatches. 26:30 - My gf (who drives, I do not) told me that the key is to try and ensure that other drivers can always tell what your intentions are ie. prevent ambiguity. Make a decision and carry it out. Hesitating causes confusion. I suppose one could say that it's realistic the game has AI drivers who act a bit daft, because real drivers certainly do sometimes, and just occasionally they can be totally whacko. One time on a rural B-road we got stuck behind a BMW or Merc (that kind of car) which absolutely would not let us past, which it achieved be remaining in the exact centre of the road, right on the white line, for well over a mile, doing only about 25 to 30mph (the road was a 60 zone). Luckily, despite the twists & turns in the road, no other cars appeared coming from the other direction, otherwise I dread to think. In the end we gave up and so we just pulled up somewhere to the side to chill for a bit, have sandwich and a fizzy can, let the lunatic get far ahead of us. Yeah I know, pales in comparison to Russian dashcam examples, but still, it was rather disconcerting to realise that here infront of us was a guy was genuinely off his nut somehow.

I live close to the German autobahn, just on the Dutch side of the border. Sometimes we drive 200+ or faster but!, the fuel consumption is ridiculous at those speeds, and the roads are not always that good to go that fast, you learn your roads. Also when we drive 130+ km/h ( wich is adviced ) some insurance companies don't pay when you crash your car, for the lucky bastard that lives in the first place.

This game needs Police Chases, truck convoys, fleets of cars, roadside accidents, potholes, roads under intensive construction, highway vehicle checking for realism. it needs firetruck, towtrucks, cars pulling caravans, army trucks, tour buses, muscle cars, super cars, off road vehicles, etc for a greater variety. the devs better take person opinions. We needs snow, black ice, swamps, forests, mountains, caves, driving through cities, picking up a trailer from a row of parked trailers and a home to rest.

I have a similar rig to you except I have a GTX 970, but my computer can easily handle max graphics with a 1000 mirror distance (it was 400 before I changed it to 1000). In cities you can't see the end of the draw distance. Thought I'd suggest that to you since your rig should easily handle it.

That thing about overtaking should be implemented in Australia, no matter the speed of the vehicle you're overtaking, you CANNOT by law go over the speed limit while overtaking, even though it's safer to overtake someone who's doing 100km/h in a 110km/h zone at 150km/h, you'll still get done because you're over 110km/h, so in that case, if you're obeying the law, you need to be crawling past

some commercial vehicles in Europe also have voices saying this vehicle is turning left or right linked to the indicators. i had a SAAB 9000 years ago. going along at 70 mph and it felt more like 20mph. very easy to speed in them as u dont notice how fast ur going. even going 150mph still felt like i was only doing about 50. took it to brands hatch race track to see what it would do. 180mph and that was an automatic. my volvo 760 did 190mph. the volvo T5 R5 could do 250mph. its why a lot of uk police forces use Volvo's. they might look big and heavy but they can out run nearly every other car on road. Autobahns do have speed limits on them. depends on the weather and time of day. If its raining they put the speed limit up. or rush hr traffic they put the speed limit up on the road signs. depending on the road conditions depends on what speed limit they put on the road signs. if conditions r ok then no limit. wierd thing is the highest accident rates on the autobahns is when the speed limit is put on. no limit very few accidents.

Because the left lane is the express lane and in America its actually the law that trucks remain in the right lane unless they pass. Theres actaully a sign in some states that says: Left Lane Passing Only. And ive had a few Brits ask me why dont we uae cab-overs. Thats because here in America, fuel mileage actually is a big thing and theyre on the freeway more than anywhere else so. Also if they implement Tennessee and Arkansas, theyre two most heavily truck populated states in America, and no one here cant drive for shit either

Paul is perfectly pointing out one of the major issues about the AI. Yeah, going off the freeway whilst changing lane is very badly programmed for the AI. But the truth is that SCS also has messed up the map. Which is very-very annoying, since they've started this map from scratch. But the merging roads off the freeways are way too short. And to be able to stop at the junction even I have to start barking ON THE FREEWAY!!! Yeah,..... well maybe the third they'll get it right.

Hey! Old video I know, hoping you pick up this comment. What settings do you use on your eye tracker? I have a Tobii EyeX but my in game movement is so much slower & less smooth than yours. Looking side to side is a real drag hoping you can help out a bro. Old series but loving watching it!

+james taylor That would be awesome! A truck that old and rusty wouldn't be approved by the manufacturers tho - so would definitely have to be a mod.

+Ben “McNugg3ts” Childs The truck compannies don't approve of it. It ruins the nice marketing for their trucks. ;)
