Hi Squirrel a handy tip when doing an order is once you know what needs replacing a star appears next to the item(s) on the order summary if you click them it highlights where the part is in disassemble mode. And when hovering over a part or missing part you can right click and add to notes which then will appear on the shopping list in the stores. Really enjoying the series hope to see more :)
@SakaGames7 жыл бұрын
A tip, the star next to the check mark or "x" on the part list shows exactly the position the replacement needs to be with a blue outline in examine mode. Very handy when only one spark plug or ignition coil is busted, the new or repaired part must be in the "broken" part's previous position. If the far left ignition coil is broken, the far left coil needs to be the one that is new.

Recall helping my Dad with his Land Rover replacing the leaf springs with coils, and the rubber bushings on the drivers side were pretty much welded to the bolt, so we had to get a neighbours angle grinder, take the top off the bolt and then use a blow torch to burn out the rubber enough to knock the bolt through. Bloody nightmare in what was up to that point a relatively easy job.
@killz4money6 жыл бұрын
I was laughing at how easy rubber bushings come out in this game. In real life they have a 99% chance of being an absolute torment that you have to take angle grinders / blow torches to - and that's just to get them out. Nothing said about getting them back in. Just like ordering parts - here you look for it, you click on it, and you have it. In real life you can spend hours researching which part will fit your car, then which part will not break within a couple of months (this means plowing through internet fables, horror stories, half-truths), and then you'll get it a week later and it's probably not even the brand you ordered in the first place... I guess I should ditch the youngtimer hobby and just get this game instead. ;)

Try clicking the star next to unfinished parts in the car status menu. It'll help you determine which parts exactly you need to fix. Also, if you click the option in the top left of the pie wheel when looking at a part you can add it to the shopping list. Then when using the tablet/computer, click the button in the top right and you can just buy the parts from the list without having to go back and forth. You still have to search for the parts manually, haven't found a way to 'auto buy' parts. Finally, you need to be level 7 to unlock the next tier. You can see the level requirement at the bottom of the column.

As an actual mechanic, i will say, replace front and rear components in pairs. If one side goes south, then the other side isn't far behind. One rotor and one set of brake pads, won't fly. Notice that ACTUAL brake pads come in pairs. LMFAO!
@islamtanzil7 жыл бұрын
Please take note to what I'm about to say. Trust me on this. By following this you will save time and money in the game. As others have already mentioned, when given an order like this where there is a list of parts given that must be fixed, or you have found all faulty parts on the car, your best option is to first go to the shop and buy all of those parts (NOT ALWAYS REQUIRED. ALWAYS REQUIRED WHEN MINIMUM REPAIRED PART CONDITION IS 100%). Then begin disassembly of the parts from the car. In this instance, squirrel removed a total of 10 rubber bushings when the job requirements stated that only 8 needed to be replaced. What you should do is place a 100% condition bushing in the location of where one was removed. The next part is vital. YOU MUST ALWAYS CHECK THE REPAIR STATUS. Seriously. If you find this bushing ticked off, you have successfully replaced this part. However, if there is no tick, it means this bushing did not need replacement. You should then replace this new bushing with the old one. Continue going through the remaining 9 removed bushings until you have all 8 ticks. Another point. Sometimes there is no need to replace a part. Simply swap it with one from another part of the car with a percentage condition equal to or higher than the one stated in the car repair status. You can swap brake pads and callipers around the car. Remember to check the repair status for the ticks. Also, in this video, squirrel spent extra money buying 4 extra Brake pads, 2 extra Brake callipers and 1 extra ventilated brake disk. What went wrong was that squirrel looked back at the repair status and saw all of these unticked. This was because squirrel placed the new callipers he had bought in the location of the already good ones. He placed the old ones where the new ones were supposed to go. He then removed all of this, then saw more unticks. The reason for this is because the parts were not mounted on the car. Squirrel then bought all these parts again wasting more money. What should be done is as I said before: Buying all the parts at the beginning. This way you know if something is unticked, the reason is that it is simply in the wrong place. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. I hope that at least one person can read this comment and benefit from it. It would help if squirrel could see this as the videos could be done quicker with less money wasted and more jobs completed in one video. What else can I say. Thank you for reading, Tanzil Islam

Squirrel, you made a bit of a derp because you removed the brake pads you already bought to replace the old ones. The game doesn't count the parts you have bought to replace the bad ones as "done" until you put them on. It marked the brake pads as being "not done" because they where not on the vehicle due to you removing them. You also already sold the old bad brake pads, so you bought more brake pads then you needed.

The 16 B you keep saying is actually I6 (i6) meaning it's a straight or an inline 6 cylinder engine. Don't know what the "B" is for though, maybe just something used in the game. You also have "V" for the engines with two banks of cylinders, and "W" for engines with three banks of cylinders joined at the crank. I've also come across some sites, people or magazines using "B" or "F" to refer to Boxer/Flat engines, where the banks of cylinders are horizontally opposed.

You didn't need to repair the timing cover, that's how to spend money uselessly... and minimum percentage condition is referring to ONLY the parts that need replacing, not all the car components in general. When you have that kind of problem with rubber bushing (or similar situations) you don't necessarily need to replace them, but simply take note of where the need-to-be-replaced part was and place there the new one and the worn-but-not-broken one where it wasn't broken to begin with

It may have been a bug in the game as well because I noticed that the videos aren't using the newest patched version. I have a Sell Junk and Sell All button in the bottom of my inventory list. I agree with other commentors that clicking on the stars in the car notes list highlights the parts and really helps with some of the more complicated jobs. The flip side is those are pretty generic parts so having extra of those isn't bad since you will reuse them. Has anyone noticed if buying a tool creates more jobs where you can use that tool? Wondering if purchasing the tire tread tester would give me more tire jobs. Haven't had one since that early story job.

If you need to repair, say, the FL brake caliper cause it's at 10%, while the FR caliper is ok at 80%, and you need a minimum part condition of 100%, buying a new caliper then mounting it on the FR, and the FR 80% one you mount it on the FL, it will obviously not count as fixed.

This video shows why you should do one area at a time not rip everything off at the start and then going for a logical refit in one area, also don't sell parts untill you've fitted them as that's how you ended up with new brake pads. The brake disc was 80% so on the wheel it came from it was fine but you probably put it on the 'wrong' hub, and since all parts replaced need to be 100% it wasn't acceptable. The brake pads should've been fine, so they might've bugged out.

Story orders work a bit differently from regular jobs; they require 100% quality (brand new) replacement parts. Which means, particularly with parts that can be put in several places like bushings and brake components, you need to remember which ones needed replacing. Because those parts need to be 100%, you cannot put parts that are "ok" in those specific spots. Which can trip you up, because you will end up with parts in your inventory that are "bad", "ok" and "brand new". The "brand new" ones HAVE TO BE the exact part locations you discovered. An "ok" part will not work.
@66lwmorgan7 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know of video that actually shows what to do from the beginning, how to buy parts, install parts etc. Example, at 2:16 what icon did squirrel click to bring up the car info. Then he goes to the lift, clicks once and the car raises all the way up. I can only get mine to go up a little then the second click lowers the damn car again instead of going all the way up. Every video I watch is clicking here, clicking there so fast and don't explain crap about what icons there hitting or explaining which each one does. These video's are great if you already know what to do.

I am at 39:26. At the possible expense of restating the obvious, you were asked to replace faulty parts, under 55% with 100% parts. If you have a ventilated disk on the right that is faulty and a left front disk at nominal (55%) Then you need to replace the right front disk with a 100% part, you can leave the left alone. When you reassemble and replace the right disk with the 55% part and the right with the 100% part, you have missed your goal. All you really need to do is ensure the 100% part goes on the right (this one needed replacing) and the 55% part in the left (it did not need replacing.)
@forevercomputing7 жыл бұрын
If it's red, it's the part that needs replacing. If it's orange - it's not that. He sold an 80% front disc. Bought 4x sets of new pads.... The job list goes to green when the correct part is fitted in the correct condition. Once that part is removed. It is not fixed and is a "remaining" job
@vprjls1020757 жыл бұрын
If you played cms2014, one of the more irritating aspects of the repair jobs was that you had to repair specific parts to 100%. In cms2015 jobs rarely needed a perfect condition and you were told a specific percentage health that all parts had to be above to successfully complete the order. In cms2018 the job system uses both of these older requirements with the story jobs (blue highlight and no expiration time) using the older 2014 style so need to know or utilize the blue stars on the status page to highlight which parts need to be replaced; and the other randomly generated jobs (with an expiration timer) using the much more forgiving 2015 style where the replaced parts only have a minimum.

If its any consolation the same thing happened to me.. one of most frustrating things for me about this game is the inventory management and the buying of parts, I think it would be easier if we were given a split screen at the computer with both inventory and shop rather than having to constantly switch between the two, I mean come you've gotta have a bloody good memory to remember all the parts you need, the parts list is also useless really unless you can access it in the shop.. also they should have the option to trade in used parts when buying a replacement that would make things much less confusing.

It matters _where_ in the car the old parts came from and where the new ones go, that's just the way the game works (i.e. "part X on the front left is broken, so that _exact_ part needs to be replaced"). If the ventilated disc on the left of the car needs replacing you have to put the new one on _that_ side even though you can leave the old one on the other. If you put the new ventilated disc on the right side, and the old disc from the right side on the left side, the game will think you haven't replaced the ventilated disc on the left with a new part (although if the disc from the other side is above the minimum part condition it doesn't matter). The only way to be sure of where the new part needs to go is to replace the parts with new straight after you remove them (for the most part you can get away with only working on one corner of the car at a time but even then things like bushings might trip you up). That said, when working on real cars, you should really replace pairs of (i.e. left and right) discs/pads/axles/bushings/suspension parts at the same time anyway.

Squirrel, you might want to upgrade the game. You're on 1.1.4 and I think it's up to 1.2.0. There is now a "Sell All" and a "Sell Junk" button which are useful plus the sort by problem has been fixed. On that last job you fell foul of something I've noticed. As far as I can tell the items that require replacing are red, the yellow and green can be kept irrespective of the minimum replacement condition. You cannot replace a part marked for replacement with one that is not marked for replacement but is below the minimum replacement condition. For example, you replaced the duff left front disc with the one you removed from the right. If you had just swapped the discs over that would have solved the problem. For this reason I now fix each quarter (FR, FL, RR, RL) individually to avoid this problem, or at least minimise it. I regard the minimum replacement condition as the owner's aspirations regarding future replacement of the part - the higher it is the longer she wants it to last. I think you will spot the error regarding the brake pads but why did you sell the ventilated brake disc with 80% condition? That part would have been useable on future jobs.

(pads) and 2 broken.... i just replace all 4.. you get xp from it and a profit anyways. you just have to have the money to purchase the part you get it back when the customer pays.
