I spent a few years flying a Falcon 900. I then got a job on a Boeing 737 800. The Boeing 738 is an absolute pig of an airplane compared to the Falcon. I then went and flew a Boeing 737 200 and it was a delight comparable to the Falcon. Boeing should have “ bit the bullet” and designed a new airplane rather than keep stretching the 73.

3 hole Falcons are the most amazing jets. Tiny economical engines, best RWY and 1st/2nd segment climb performance, lowest fuel burn, no ETOPS/extended threshold time requirements, the list goes on and on and on ....

I love that takeoff. A couple of decades ago I asked a corporate pilot at our local airport (California), "Why do you sometimes takeoff with a gradual climb and sometimes with a steep climb?" He said, simply, "When we have passengers we like to give them a comfortable ride." Pretty easy to understand but sometimes passengers enjoy a steep climb. Like, once, leaving San Diego's Lindberg Field, I was in a rear facing seat and when I looked through the window I saw the runway a couple of thousand feet directly below. It was a nice ride.
