more than the story, it's a celebration of Bollywood. That's why you can watch it multiple times without it getting boring. there are lots of references to both era of Bollywood and also a little of of south Indian movies. I feel like you should come back later when you learn more of Indian film history and you'll discover lots of small stuff and connotations you didn't get at the first viewing

The first part has a lot of references who know Bollywood, for example, OP saving SP from the fire on the set was taken from a real Bollywood couple, Sunil Dutt saved Nargis from a fire on set end then fell in love and the guy they were impersonating to get into the theatre at the beginning was a real Bollywood actor (who didn’t really enjoy the portrayal) and so on so part of the charm of the first half are things like that. Karz is meant to be really good, a classic re-incarnation story 👌🏼
