Sarah Macleerie - Senior Legal Technologist, Addleshaw Goddard
Sarah Macleerie is a Senior Legal Technologist within the Innovation & Legal Technology team at Addleshaw Goddard, the firm's "New Law" offering. Sarah has been working hands on with Legal Technology in the "New Law" space for over 6 years and in that time has successfully led the design, build & implementation of a range of complex projects of significant scale - for both clients and internal transformation - that have used an array of different legal technology tools. Within her time in the industry, Sarah has held roles across multiple New Law disciplines which provide her with a unique perspective on how to successfully implement & embed legal technology in practice - including Managed Legal Services Delivery, Legal Project Management & Legal Process Design / Improvement.
Dr Birgit Schippers - Senior Lecturer in Law, The University of Strathclyde
Dr Birgit Schippers is Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Strathclyde. Her research examines the impact of artificial intelligence on human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. Birgit’s specific interests focus on the collective and societal effects of AI-driven biometric technologies, such as facial and emotion recognition systems. Her work champions the development of values-led, ethical and lawful solutions for AI that are anchored in best practice in international human rights law. Beyond academia, Birgit collaborates with national and international think tanks and civil society organisations in the field of digital human rights.
John Forsyth - Technology Lawyer and Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in IP and IT Law
John Forsyth has more than 20 years experience in establishing and leading in house IT law specialist teams in the financial services sector including Banco Santander and Lloyds Banking Group. John has practical experience of leading and negotiating regulatory outsourcing projects utilising new technologies including the first payments blockchain platform in the UK. He has a special interest in AI and how it may help to enhance and develop the services of inhouse legal teams. John is a Board Member of the Society of Computers and Law and special adviser to the UK Government Department for Science Innovation and Technology.
