Definitely as the world gets more complicated in regards to the need to deliver goods and/or services locally and globally the ability to harness data in a strategic manner only becomes more important. The platforms that a person or company develops will be the lifeblood and cash cow of that organization or person as well. And as IoT grows not only on Earth but possibly interplanetary soon, it may be just as beneficial to sell the shovel and pick as it is to sell rights to the mountains. Definitely a new and exciting frontier.

Very interesting, nd thanks for your explanation, however rarely a typical data analysts, BI, or analytics professionals go beyond descriptive analytics and when they do, they use much simpler predictive models to forecast trends and behaviors. And while some data analysts might delve into prescriptive analytics, it's less common as it typically requires more advanced statistical and machine learning expertise that often a typical business analysts, data analyst, BI or analytics professionals don't have. No?

I’m very keen on going into behavioural insights and nudging. I am awful at maths though, have a marketing degree at undergrad, and want to do a masters. What do you think I should study further to get into this role? I also really hope the role isn’t so maths focused, and is simpler in terms of data analysis (because I have done that in my course for my dissertation, etc), and want to design and implement and then test nudging strategies. I’m getting mixed answers on whether it’s even part of the job. Any help is appreciated! 😊

@lorenzocavallon7343
@lorenzocavallon7343 5 ай бұрын
I understand what you mean but it’s a misleading analogy. Data is abundant and progressively increasing, while oil is a limited resource. In the case of oil, the cost of final products is mainly influenced by its extraction cost (together with shipping), rather than refinement. In the case of data, it comes with almost zero cost in both ‘extracting’ and transferring. What really costs in data is ‘refinement’ to have an AI product…

Most job that requires repetition will be taken over by AI or at least heavily assisted by AI. It will mostly effect low level jobs, such as entry-level roles. I just graduates with a marketing degree and I can confirm that within next 10 years most of the marketing task will be done by AI. and some tasks are already AI assisted, e.g. - copy writing, blog posts, creating marketing creatives and etc. so I l would say most its better to learn something in tech like - DATA SCIENCE, SOFTWEAR ENGINEERING, CYBER SECURITY OR EVEN GAME DESIGN (specialized in AR/VR development), or some sort of engineering like Civil, to be future safe.

The Data Science Lifecycle seems to be exactly the same as the Data Analytics Lifecycle that is taught as part of Data Analytics Masters Degree programs including Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Analytics and others. So while this may be the distinction made internally at IBM, it seems clear that the terms Data Science and Data Analytics are generally interchangeable as umbrella terms. Take this video with a grain of salt unless applying specifically to IBM's internal purposes.

This is so because they don't do a good job in refining the work that needs to be done in the ds life cycle. This explanation is misleading for people that want to make a career out of it. This is the problem with the wide spread adoption of this field. The roles and titles are not well defined yet.

Data science pays more in general, but I would suggest first seeing what recruiters are looking for most (doesn't matter if you want to work as a Data scientist if no one's hiring), seeing what you like (to avoid burnout after a year) and finally consider that Data science jobs are harder to get than Data analysts, and you can pivot from a data analytics position to a data science one. I've seen about half of the required skills for the data scientist mentioned here also be extremely important for data analysts, so those two are not as different as tou might think. Different jobs will have different requirements for data analysts or scientists and the line gets a little blurry.

So is Data Scientist a Data Engineer?
@mrTop-ik6zt
@mrTop-ik6zt Ай бұрын
No, a data engineer is focussed on the getting the data in the right places, handling large volumes of data, cleaning data, pre-processing data, deploying models made by data scientists on cloud services. A data scientists does everything said in the video, the 7 steps. If you can do both roles you can become a 'machine learning engineer', who can collect data, handle it, model the data, deploy the model to end users. This is called an end-to-end solution, he can do everything on his own.
