I studied pharmacy and while doing so, I loved the overlap with computer sciences in the drug development process. For me datacamp is super useful, to learn programming to a sufficient level to do the pharma research i wanna do.

I finished my courses and got certified as a professional data analyst. Even having experience it has been very difficult to get a job. They ask for more and more things. Yesterday in an interview they asked me for knowledge in Ruby code in addition to knowledge in Django (which I have). But once again I was rejected

@@FIBONACCIVEGA Run away from these. They're looking for a web dev/software engineer with data analysis skills as a bonus, this is definitely not a data analyst position.

I think Datacamp is valuable for learning the syntax and if you want practice with a specific skill such as SQL. You need to supplement it with other resources. I've kept my subscription because I find it valuable to learn the latest skills. The best part of DC is that there is new material all the time The down side is that some questions need more explanation and the video lectures lack details.
@slimjimjimslim59236 ай бұрын
yes 100%, they cover a lot of breadth, but depth is not there. I think that is on purpose. If every video had lecture style length, my brain wouldn't remember all that. It's better to cover basic important info that get you to start scripting. But I do know as I learn, I start thinking about different ways to use the code and I begin to google questions that lead to more depth and more discussions. I'll have to supplement it eventually with some bootcamp 100hr course lol but right now, as a non-SWE, it's helping me to do my job as quickly as i can.

I'm fortunate to have this among other learning platforms through work. I intend to use it to ramp up on python as I've managed so far primarily doing most of what I need using SQL. Hopefully the python courses will suffice for kind of a ramp up.

In terms of credibility, does a Datacamp certificate add value to my skills profile or am I better off going to a more expensive platform like CFI?
@TheRealJoeM61711 ай бұрын
I started last October as a beginner to data analysis having only completed some python and SQL courses through Udemy, and I will say I have learned a lot. I've gone through the Data Analyst with Python and almost am done with the Data Analyst with SQL. I have also completed several projects and plan to go on to Power BI and Tableau. DataCamp has helped me to stay focused. The thing that always sticks in my mind is, "What comes next?" At this point in the journey, I feel like something is missing. I do plan to put together a portfolio in the very near future.

Hello! Would you mind telling me if datacamp charges users for anything? i've just began studying with it and i dont understand is it free to use or not
@TheRealJoeM6177 ай бұрын
DataCamp does offer some free content, but to get the most out of it requires a subscription. I paid for a yearly subscription when they offered a sale price. According to their own site, "A non-paying user can access the first chapter of each course. "Additionally, you can access non-premium or Tutorials developed by our experts and fellow DataCamp learners -- by navigating to the Resources Center and clicking on Data Science Tutorials."

Be honest. Is DataCamp enough to land a job? Asumming I learn throughly whats on the platform and do some side orojects. I'm just frustrated cause I've been looking around for learning resources/platforms but it's always mixed reviews everywhere I look. It would suck to spend months grinding on a learning platform that turns out to be bad.
@slimjimjimslim59236 ай бұрын
Landing a job for non-SWE yeah, some of use hardware engineers do have to some some basic coding skills. HOWEVER Landing a job in SWE especially in FAANG? NOPE. There's no magic potion for SWE, gotta practice, grind those leetcodes. If you need fundamentals, coursea and udemy for a bootcamp course. For practice, well there's about 1000 leetcode sites and just go grind it for 2 months. It sucks but it's the truth, coding isn't like craming for chem101 the night before. It takes a few weeks to master both actual scripting and to pass those stupid tech interviews leetcodes.

I agree that Datacamp is a good choice for beginners, most of the courses and tracks covers the basics for data science and you can discover and practice your abilities, the projects and case studies are really good for your portfolio too. I recommend get the annual subscription when in discount :)

@@adityakharade7305 50% off the full price so that becomes 150$. IMO it's good for 1 year to get exposure to many different functions and languages. It's not depth, it's breadth and speed focused. Better than some 100hr python course on coursea or udemy IMO lol
