My family lived on Long Island NY in the early 60's and went to the fair where we watched one. It was an exciting night for a 5 year old plus we got to see diving horses, Joey Chitwood and cars driving on 2 wheels. Seeing you and Ron enjoying that brought back a lot of forgotten childhood memories

Love demo derbies. Our county ran a figure 8 demo one night and what was left of the cars came back the next night to finish em off.

and the demolition derby started right here on Long Island NY. You have to see the school bus demolition derby it is great! I saw my first demo derby back in 1963 with my oldest sister and her boyfriend at Islip speed way. I've liked the derby ever since

Years ago, my son did his first demo derby and he said it was a rush! He would search the neighborhood looking for cars as that time, was before cell phones and Internet.

Great fun, Bre and Ron! Thanks for posting this. I attended a demolition derby back in my youth (mid-'70s) in central Illinois. Back then, they were all front-engined and rear wheel drive, so there was a lot of driving backwards. It was a blast, with all those cars running straight pipes out of the engine hoods (muffler? What's that?)! 👍 Something interesting to note: Within about a minute of the first event starting on your video, the term "malachi crunch" came, irresistibly, to my mind. Then I did a quick web search and found that it was from a 1976 episode of Happy Days, and that was apparently where Pinky Tuscadero was introduced. 😃 I'll bet I haven't used that term since a few years after I saw that episode of Happy Days. Yet there it was, quietly sitting in my brain for for over 45 years. Hah! 😆 Thanks so much for sharing this video, and reminding me of a couple little gems from my youth. 🥰

I remember when they would televise demo derby’s on TV on Saturdays when I was a kid late 50s early 60s and of course the cars were absolute tanks back then sure did beat the commercial garage that they show now. Thanks for the fun.

My wife is from Arkansas and I took her to a dirt track race before we were married 55 years ago. Let's say she wasn't thrilled about the experience. I never even thought about taking her to a demolition derby! Looks like you had a great evening together.

It's fun I been to one back ten years ago and I got hooked on it. Wth I'll try it doing one once in my life. I do know if I try it it'll be full size car cause they just hit way harder. Compacts sounds like crap when straight pipe.
