I have Excel 2010 and put the .xlam file in XLSTART. The DatePicker worked without further setup after restarting Excel and after a PC restart; so that configuration looks reliable. Certainly the DatePicker is very good, and makes entering dates really easy. Thanks to TeachExcel for a great recommendation. Also thanks for a really well modulated course delivery and an ideal tone and speed for me.

I don't know why this worked like this but when I unzipped the file and Excel was already open the Excel program automatically asked me if I would like to use the add-in and I clicked yes and it's been work for the last 30 minutes, lol. I have opened several other Excel files and I shut Excel down completely and then re-opened and the date picker is working excellent. Thank you

Nice! Thanks for this tip. The built-in ActiveX Microsoft Date and Time Picker control is definitely quirky. This is a good alternative. Too bad MS does not copy it for the internal functionality. Thanks for sharing it and the tips to set it up. Thumbs up!

If you make the blank cells formatted as a date it will automatically activate the date picker when you click inside that cell. :)

I do not normally trust free software downloaded from the web, so before I installed this add-in I checked the code and it is well written and seems to be without malicious code. It is an excellent little add-in. Downloaded from the indicated web site on 19 March, 2020.

I have 2 questions, 1. Is it possible to make the datepicker show up ONLY in the field to the right of cell where you want the date to appear? 2. Do I need to install datepicker on every system in order for it to show up? IE, I am doing some independent contract work and have the Datepicker addon installed on my system. Would the client need to have it installed on their system in order for it to show up?

Wasted a whole day trying to figure out that "c:\windows\syswow64\mscomct2.ocx" crap that doesnt even work on all excel. This add-in is a gem! literally only took me 1 minute to add it in my excel. Going to the File Properties and ticking Unblock to allow this to automatically start is a great little tip on it's own....could solve many similar issues. I assume the date picker only works on computers which have the add in file installed, is that correct?

Well, you must have the add-in file at least downloaded, but dogg1964 just said that Excel automatically did everything for him without him having to go through specific installation instructions; so hooray for so many different versions of the same software now lol.

@@TeachExcel Yes, the number of Excel versions in use is getting a bit ridiculous now and compatibility issues more frequent. I say Microsoft should upgrade everyone for free, and then ditch the old versions.....wishful thinking though I suspect!

HI, I managed to install it and unblock . However when the icon appears in the Home Section the calendar does not appear it only has the options to Show on Right Click and Show in Grid. You should be able to send the add-in file itself to anyone you want but they will then need to follow the installation instructions to get it to work - don't forget to "unblock" the file in Windows so you can use it after the first time it is installed.

I have successfully installed the date picker, and yes, it would be so fantastic to use; however, the calendar itself pops up on a different monitor and not anywhere near or in the same sheet as the cell where the date needs to be. I turned off that monitor altogether to see if it would force it to display on the same monitor, and that did not work. HELP, please!

Question on the fast scroll through the years: what were you using? The scroll wheel on your mouse? If so, mine does not work, nor do the arrow keys. Thoughts?

Ah I didn't even think about that: I am on a laptop using Windows 10 and the touchpad: I used the "two-finger swipe" thing (I don't know what it's called) that allows you to scroll through web pages and documents. I would assume that the middle mouse wheel scroll should also do the same trick, but it seems like no combination of arrow keys or page down/up keys will work for some reason. Maybe there is a setting for the mouse wheel that you can change to get it to work, I am not sure, sorry.

I made my own "Date Picker" as a form to use within other forms, etc. Add-ins arent a good way to go about trying to solve things when you're in a company environment that you may not have permissions to go about installing things as an end-user on the network.
