I ask this in light of the person making that decision to harm the bar owner if his wife had just as much involvement with the matter why not address her on it 1st not kill her but talk with her etc n see if she stops ? If i was arrested only I face the consequences no one else period...and those members can only hope that if a fellow member was given life they periodically make sure he alright bit of money on books etc an depending whether he has family wife children etc then he good on visits and an occasional helping hand given to his family if its needed n required...just my thoughts tho lol..

Back in the early 1980's my wife sang in four mob owned or run clubs. One in Queens, one in Brooklyn, two in Rockland County New York. Long Island joint I am not positive about. I'm from Forest HIlls and I used to go to Backdraft's all the time in the late 90s... We used to get into mad fights in that place... Fun times. The owner was warned to stop talking to the guy's wife. He knew full well who her husband was. He didn't listen and continued hanging out with her. I used to live right around the corner on Ingram St. I remember when backdrafts opened. My family used to eat there all the time and we knew Patrick. I remember when we heard he was killed and why. That block has changed a lot since I grew up there. If I remember correctly before Backdrafts there was a smaller bar (I think it was called People’s Bar but not positive of that) with blacked out windows which I think was also a mob hangout. There was also (I think in the 80’s or 90’s a bloody body found in the drivers seat of a car on Ingram St. Lots of history in the neighborhood not all good. Everybody knew everybody in the old days. The shop at the end by Ingram St was a Pharmacy (can’t remember his name). The other end at Juno was a candy store owned and run by the Shipman’s. A few stores down was the butcher shop run by Sam the butcher. Past Backdrafts was the supermarket Good Food run by Ida and Morris who were so old school that they used black composition notebooks to record store credit and payments.

I hung out in Backdrafts all the time in the 90’s. This place was packed every weekend. The space was huge and would move all the tables for a dance floor. I never experienced or noticed any mob types hanging out. (I am sure there was). The noise the neighborhood complained about was drunk young people having fun. If any mobsters we’re hanging out, it was probably during the day, not on weekend nights.
