As a Black American man, I find myself dating a lot of African women. My college sweetheart was from Sierra Leone. I’ve dated S.African (Zulu) , Sudanese, Ethiopian, and now Malian. The romance he’s speaking of, I get from African women and not African American women so much so I think it’s unique to the individual. There’s always a trade off. Some good and bad.

After watching the entire conversation I’ll add my perspective. Generally speaking, the women from your own culture are better on paper but that doesn’t take into account compatibility and whether or not you have competing desires. Each individual situation is unique. It doesn’t necessarily matter where she is from, it’s where she is at (mentally, psychologically). By competing desires I mean you could want a stay at home mom but she wants to work outside the home. So just find someone who is willing to be congruent to how you see your life/lifestyle. That isn’t germane to a particular land mass. Each have their own unique things that the other doesn’t have due to culture but the environment you set up as a man has to foster an environment for learning. You show someone how you want to be treated/cared for. This can be taught like anything else. As far as the finances, I don’t mind paying for everything down to the maintenance of a woman because she is a direct reflection of myself and my care. But, in order to earn that privilege, she must be willing to follow the program I set up for my home. She doesn’t have to necessarily have “money”, but something like connections and/or comes from a good family to where we can do good business is always a plus. Intangible things that can be invaluable for the long term interest of your family unit. Peace!

Very good assessment. I was married to a African lady and she was okay but our ideals clashed in many areas. She was smart and caring which where very good positives, but in other areas she was not mature and our two ideals of running a home, child raising & management of union, we where not on the same page. She was very immature in the area as far as what a American male is expecting in a partnership. Most of that is due the ladies from her country have this same small mind ideal of being pamper thru out their lives. FWIW, My failure in that marriage is not going to prevent me from dating or marrying another African woman. I just picked the wrong one to marry. I think culture difference is party of a issue you have to review and being willing to accept.

First & foremost.. I’m an African American woman.. I really don’t even like the fact that us black people are always comparing & contrasting! Bottom line we are raised COMPLETELY different but that’s not to say one is better or worse than the other. All black women hold it down in the home & that’s a FACT! The difference is the family upbringing many of us American women might understand money because we have been dealing with our American men not being present so we gotta make things shake. Regardless, put an African woman in America w/NO man she will be independent. That’s just us women & we do what we have to do!

I love making sure my husband comes home from work to a clean house and a nice home cooked meal. African American and Africans on the continent are different people no matter what but there can still be a union if the people are equally yoked. It can't be a situation where one person is looking to better themselves from the person they are with. It's not a man or woman responsibility to take care of another grown person. In a culture that has a lot of poverty, it's always people looking for a meal ticket. As we have seen from a recent event of a American youtuber being in a domestic dispute with his African queen. I'm American and I've dated African women and African American women and as for me , it's always better dating someone that has the same values,education , spirituality and finances that you have so that person won't look at you as being a walking ATM.

That's true because as a father you should want all of your children to be a asset and not a liability. I'm former USA military and I traveled and lived on 5 continents and one thing in common is that people with a poverty mindset mostly all teaches their daughters to go out and look for a man to take care of them and be totally dependant on that man. That's a backward way of thinking and they will remain in poverty and do without teaching those bad mindset. Second, the same things he is praising black American women for are the things black American men complain about. Third, American women are more independent in general because of more education and higher income capacity, so even African women in America are also very independent. The equal financial aspect is an American thing in general. Finally, men always like what is different because they like variety. It’s like when black American men say they prefer Latinas because they are more “spicy”, when the same behavior in a black American woman is considered a bad attitude. If anything this should be titled Ugandan women vs. American woman. This is not a fair assessment of African women v. African American women, because this is an assessment you can’t actually make as not all African women are the same. And for further perspective, most intercultural relationships are unsuccessful. Almost all the African/African American couples I know of are are divorced or did not last and the vast majority of them were between African men and African American women. I do know two couples that are wonderful, but again they are in the minority.

You would have to be out of your freakin mind to pick an African American woman over an African woman. I'm sorry but I have to be truthful. The only reason I think an African man would date a black American woman is for financial reasons.

I agree with what he is saying. I often hear African men love African American women because of our independence and we are not so hung up on a man having a lot of money in the beginning it looked as though these women were a little bit jealous or kind of feeling some type of way but I think you all are very beautiful I think African women are very subtle and you have more tack in humbleness for the most part but the reason why African American women are so bold is because we are independent and we get out there in the world way sooner than African girls do so we know what we want when we want it and how we want it so you need to take the boldness or you take the reserved woman

right, all the African women in the comments are really trying to compare us like they know us. I have nothing against them but yet they are spreading false info and half of the story, I could honestly careless about what a man thinks and I guess that's where we differ lmao

@lifeandhigherself65593 жыл бұрын
@@almasmith2733 well the one thing that they may be doing is settling secondly you have to understand African American women mostly prefer black men but there's just not that many available in the US there are more black men in Africa and at the disposal of African women but you know what bottom line is let's stop comparing ourselves to each other the division between African-Americans and Africans needs to be over we have to do our own agenda and not worth the west and the European one because they fear black Unity

A woman managing the home and taking care of your children is "NOTHING"? That's ignorant and insulting! On balance, the African women I know do more to hold the family together than the men, and I'm a man. Which African women is this guy talking about? Maybe Ugandan women but definitely not the African women I know.

I am not against women helping financially in the home, but if I as a woman is meeting you halfway on your duties, it better work both ways. You also meet me halfway in my duties. I assist with the bills, you assist with the running of the home, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids etc. That is 50/50. I know a lot of women are willing to deal with all that bcz women want to be married and be called Mrs and say they have a man, but let's be real here if I run the home by myself and I also help financially, what is the man bringing to the table? He surely can't claim he brings finances coz I also bring them, so how then is that 50/50. Does the 50/50 only applies when I assist the men financially and doesn't apply when he has to assist me run the home? It's just a pity that women are so desperate that they are willing to bend for anything, as long it makes them look better and called "good woman."

Great topic ladies. I don't think it's true that African women don't work and don't contribute. It's just that I think our modern capitalist culture only values people in monetary terms. In fact it's actually the norm in traditional African societies and rural areas for women to work more and bring more to the table. Women grow crops and work as market women. They make, clothing, arts and crafts and keep domestic animals. On top of tending to home, husband and children. And they've done so for centuries. In fact even now what we consider a good woman is one who once she settles into a long term relationship, will find some economic activity like a business of some sort. This idea of a wife that doesn't work is a colonial import that we learned from the masters that dominated civil service and industry and their wives who lived like goddesses waited on by servants. But it's definitely not the norm. I can't say women were equal in old Africa but they certainly contributed more than equally. But even now I don't think they don't want to contribute. There are two things. 1. They see their contribution differently. As in not the monetary aspect. And 2. Most really don't have access to money and resources because of general unemployment as well as a patriarchal society. I know this from experience. I'm the bread winner in my house but my African woman is a hustler. Always has a money making scheme and whenever she gets something she puts it into something in the house, like school fees, paying into our mortgage or the children's savings. But she knows that whether or not she gets money I've got the household. Primary responsibility is mine. If you're used to it it's not a problem. I also saw the other side before I was married when I dated people from different cultures. One thing is for sure; capitalism and economic transformation which is on its way will change most of this.

It don’t seem like he had a lot of good stuff to say about African women.And it seem like he wants the same thing the typical American black man wants. Some respect, peace and a little bit of help every now and then. He made it seem like African women are broke and lazy but have respect. Shoot, same thing go for American women. Some of them. It seem like he’s more in it for the financial shape than an actual relationship and the African-American women are in it for the same thing. But I’m just observing👀👀.
