One of the worst thing we did to boys was to teach them how to treat girls but not how to protect themselves from girls and later women. Men operate like the only danger in the room is themselves and they are incautious about getting into situations with women and only realize too late that she has a LOT of power and in some contexts more than you do. This is why men ignore red flags. We were taught that we can overcome red flags by our manliness. Instead we need to teach boys and men to run at red flags and to not play with fire.

It always amazes me how women can break up with a father of their child and immediately bring another man into their lives. My son’s mother and I broke up in 2018(at her request)she already had someone in the wings. The few times we broke up,she always wanted to bring that person into my son’s life. I think it comes from a fear of being alone. Every woman I've ever known has had at least one of those "beta orbiters" or as Chris Rock said "D*ck in a glass case". In case of emergency, break glass!💥🍆💥 My soon to be ex-wife has a long time male friend that was a real problem when we first started dating even though he lived 3,000 miles away. Constant texting, etc. After meeting him in person and observing his attitude towards me firsthand, I had to sit her down and explain that this guy wanted her and she was encouraging him by always responding to him. Before I came along she had been dating one of his best friends and I told her that he had been sitting back waiting for his chance until I came along and ruined it for him. Of course, she claimed she had no idea. I almost ended our relationship and told her that if she wanted me to stay around, she had to set some boundaries with this guy. She did but he never went completely away. Funny thing, this guy has remained single the entire seven years I've been with my wife. I'm certain that as soon as I'm out of the picture, this old "friend" is going to make his move and as far as I'm concerned, they deserve each other. I wouldn't be surprised if they've already hooked up, but at this point I just don't give a damn anymore as I'm focusing on escaping and moving forward to a better life.

So many DMV women hold clearances and can access databases to do their snooping on men - even if it's illegal. If they don't have direct access, they often know some other gal (or weak man who does. I had a chance encounter at a national park two weeks ago. I helped an attractive young hiker with directions and, she chose to hike with me to our destination. The conversation flowed easily and we hit it off immediately. At one point she shared her water color painting book with me, a book she takes with her on her hikes. I complemented her work and asked as to whom was her favorite Italian artist. She mentioned a name that I'm not going to type and said she really admired the artists use of bloated dead bodies. Looking back on dating my ex wife, so many red flags appeared that I missed while we were dating. I see them so clearly now after going through what I did. But now it seems, I see red flags everywhere, even if they maybe really aren't there. I don't want the past to cause extreme hypervigilance, but it seems like it is. It's as though I'm totally gun shy to get past the talking stage and actually meeting. Maybe I am seeing too clearly now and red flags are what all women carry with them. I understand we all have our faults and not one person is perfect and there are things we see as possible issues with others, but am I really seeing all women with major issues? The idea of deciding your boundaries *before* a relationship begins is key. In a long-term relationship involving significant financial or social entanglements let alone children together such boundaries can sometimes be difficult to enforce. If I were ever to divorce or to become a widower, it's very unlikely I'd remarry. If I were to get involved with any woman in any way, I'd make sure to be upfront about my intentions. No marriage, no cohabitation, no mixing of finances. I wouldn't want to be with anyone for any other reason than enjoying their company.

Even in my 20s I always walked away when red flags would appear.. I have a rule of thumb - We all have baggage but when someone has 2 or more red flags WALK AWAY. Unless she is circus freak ugly and over 300lbs a woman can ALWAYS get a man who will be in a relationship with her just to have access to sex. However millions of decent looking men throughout history died virgins because women are hypergamous and led by their feelings ie he didn't earn enough money or was not tall or good looking enough. Therefore a man being single is NEVER a red flag as it is the default position for the average man. However half decent looking woman who is single after 25 is a bad bet because the few good well raised women out there who are not feminist career women get snapped up in high school and college. And if she reaches 30 and is still single then you can bet that she is ran through can't pair bond and is probably Alpha widowed and thus cannot be loyal to a good man. And if she is 35, attractive and still single then there is something seriously wrong with her. She has some mental illness or emotional trauma that make her a walking red flag. When you get up to 40 and single and 50 and single the only way she is not a walking red flag is if she is newly widowed. And even then you had better check she didn't drive him to an early grave. I am really enjoying your perspective on life in general and your perspective on women in particular. Well….You escaped a narcissist again! Things to notice: the speed of the relationship, her attempt to triangulate with your children, her attempt also displays a disregard for boundaries, and finally, she completely failed the “smiling no test“. That’s when you tell a narc “no” to their face without much emotion, and perhaps even with a little kindness & a little smile. Notice how reasonable you were and how unreasonable her response. She flew into a rage. All these behaviors of hers are narcissistic in character. Thankfully You went with your gut and called everything off and what was her response? Hoovering. An attempt to suck you back in with way too many attempted phone calls and text messages. The experience gave you some nightmares, but in my opinion you should rather be very grateful that you escaped (very likely) from the clutches of a narcissist. Can you imagine how bad it would’ve gotten if you had stayed with her? Yikes!

Yes, you did dodge a bullet. I recently went on a date with a juris. It was like a job interview. I was on the date to just have fun and to see how it would go.I feel like she was on it to find a replacement man after her divorce. At the end of the date it felt to me like we weren’t going to be a good match and she was becoming agitated. I was just chill on the date. I didn’t have any expectations. I wish more women would have a more relaxed attitude on dates.
