That's why you mostly see good looking guys with beautiful women and unattractive fat men and old men with gorgeous women and never the other way around. This is great advice as usual man. One of the biggest things I struggle with still is giving myself permission to just be myself around people. I self censor a lot for fear of others not liking me or whatever and I realize a lot of that comes from me not really liking myself. "If I don't even like my authentic self why would they?" so the mask goes on. Gonna use the free therapy sessions provided by my job to dig deep and try and help overcome this mindset.

@@AnthonyRecenello Lots of negative self-talk "you're not good enough, you're not interesting or attractive, no one will really love you, no one will understand you, dumbass" etc, >< these thoughts get pretty dark sometimes "you're a burden waste of space just die" and it's a constant fight it feels like at times to just stay alive. Its not always like this but especially after some perceived failure in life like a breakup or comparing myself with more successful peers or something I just feel like I'm not good enough, never will be and the only options are to either die or change who I am to try to become "good enough" It sucks and I'm tired of it. I'm afraid if I let this continue there's gonna be a day where I'm not able to fight back and give into that negativity. At this point in life I'd really like to experience being comfortable with who I am and not caring as much about perception.

I'm in a relationship right now where we're kind of stuck. When we met eachother we were friends at first and then hooked up once, continued to hook up and it was like; okay now we NEED to be together, because we're doing so well together. And that put a lot of pressure on us to continue to be doing so well and therefore it's going awful. So now we try too hard to go back to where we were, and I feel disrespected all the time without clearly knowing why. i've never seen your face before in my life but you just gave some incredible life advice. i worry constantly that people don't like me, i just made a new group of friends and even though everyone seems to like me and i'm always invited to group hangs, and people always come when i invite them out, i still live in fear of being annoying or "too much" and irritating everyone around me. sometimes when i'm with a group i'll get really insecure and just shut down for a while. your advice made me realize...why would i try so hard to keep a friend group or friendship if i have to mask so much of my personality to keep them? In my experience (I'm 45) in my 20's and on the dating scene, I've always said the coolest guys, the most attractive (to me) were the guys that talked to every girl the same. Not all interested in the one they wanted to get in the sack and completely ignore a girl he wasn't interested in. I remember my sister came out with me for my 25th birthday. She was 27. The guys in my group would barely even look at her. And no one had a conversation with her. She was married, so obviously not there to hook up with anyone..so she didn't really care. But I remember her telling me and that's when I started noticing. Yeah...the whole lot of them...total douche bags.
