I am 80 and my man friend is 77. On our first Date he stared into my eyes, listened to me speak, took me by the hand and kissed me often in a park we had gone to. We are now an item and in happiness heaven. Generous, caring and loving man in all ways. Life does not end at 80. Keep searching and you, too, can find a good man.

Recently, on a date (I am 70, he is 71) when he opened my car door for me to get out, he also reached his hand down and very gently gave me a hand out. I absolutely melted, because it made my normal awkward exit (due to age) quite graceful! SO incredibly thoughtful!!!

How they treat others, especially those who may be less fortunate than them for some or other reason, is a big yes for me, just shows me they look beyond themselves. I love it when a man stares at me affectionatily/lovingly, I feel seen and appreciated ,especially that stare accross a room. Once you are at the touching stage, I love the gentle hand behind my back, makes me feel very protected. I would say most of them I agree with. Tipping miserly immediately switches me off. Once I actually offered to pay the tip as I was so embaressed, he allowed me to and did not even get the hint, well, never saw him again. In general, when just the 2 of you are out on a date, don't go to a place you know you will have divided interest like a sports bar, unless, as you said, you both know what game is on and both want to see it and enjoy and discuss together

Paying the bill on a first date is also very attractive!!! (even if we offer) chivalry still counts in the early days! However, women should always reciprocate in some way, in the early stages of dating (and I'm not talking about 'putting out') and text or call the next dat to thank their date. 🥰
@2ndActTV
@2ndActTV Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Maybe it's our generation, but unless I invited the guy for a specific reason, I would always want the man to pay the dinner bill. It puts him in charge!! And I ALWAYS find other ways, including financial, to reciprocate. (And I'm not talking about "putting out either" ... (well, at least not always) 🤣 For me, this is the dance we play with male/female energy that is so important in a lasting and happy relationship! Thanks for your comment!

At my age, just being alive may make me irresistibly attractive to women. (Many of my friends I grew up with are dead...funny....their widows are still alive) As for dating? I no longer have the desire to be with a woman (or anyone else) for companionship. I tried when I was younger to team up with a gal but there were no takers. That's life.

I know this was extreme, but I grew up in a home where my father put the TV on the table during meals so he wouldn't miss any part of a sport event. Everyone was forbidden to speak because HE was watching sports. Transgressions by me as an only child were met with physical abuse. I simply will not date any guy who is into sports, or who even watches TV for that matter. I tried. I married someone who constantly watched televised sports and I found myself having PTSD responses to the sound of the crowds, not to mention all the stress producing commercials that featured guns, threats of violence, terror, screaming, dramatic car chases, car crashes, explosions, etc...I don't think we as individuals living in a culture can have any sanity if this is accepted as "normal".

I empathize with you. My father watched all the sports and it was a nightmare. I especially disliked football, I’m being gracious here- but it turns out my granddaughter’s bf plays for the CFL and my grandson’s goal is to play for the NFL. Why football for crying out loud? It’s interesting what opportunities life will bring to help us deal with past trauma. I watch the highlights and that’s good enough, plus I watched Ted Lasso all 3 seasons about 5X, which helped tremendously. Good luck to you.♥️🇨🇦🏈⚽️⛸️🥅🏒

I'm with Joni about the baby thing - this has got to be a young woman's thing - hormones + reproductive glands in overproduction, looking for a suitable mate to create a family with. With age comes wisdom - and the knowledge that not every man who looks at babies, children and youngsters with adorable eyes and a gentle touch - has good intentions. In our age group I'd like to see more overall kindness towards others - whether handicapped or challenged or whatever the PC term is nowadays, to the downtrodden/down on their luck homeless or poor, towards the elderly that can use a bit extra help, time and patience. And of course towards animals. I'm a sucker for a man who will treat furkids - whether they have fur, feathers, scales or too many legs - with kindness [I do pass on spider lovers though - unless they live in a terrarium and stay in there all the time - I will kindly pass and leave him for someone else to appreciate!].
@2ndActTV
@2ndActTV Жыл бұрын
Yes, kindness means so much! And I’m also big on fur kids! Funny what you say about spiders, I find it so amusing when a big tough guy (or gal) is creeped out by this “little thing” that can generally be crushed with one finger. 😀 I’m one of those that captures a spider in a plastic cup and throws it outside, and I feel bad when I vacuum up a spider. Guess that’s me and Buddha 😂

I enjoy football and am an LA Chargers fan. But it would never occur to me have a first meet at a sports bar. A first meet should be someplace quiet, like a coffee shop, where you sit across from each other face to face. I've also had good first dates at wineries where it was quiet and we could sit and talk. When I was young I earned my living from tips (bartending) so I always tip well. But many times your date doesn't see how much you tip. But I always, always treat staff well. I'm always polite and never take an attitude that they are somehow beneath me. I have a hard time showing my goofy side on a first date. It takes me a few meets to let that side show. I always let a woman show me she is interested in physical touch before I touch her. Usually she lets me know with a hug when we are parting. After the first meet, I don't know if asking for a text to me know they are OK is appropriate. I believe that would come off as over-bearing after just one meet.
@2ndActTV
@2ndActTV Жыл бұрын
You raise some good points Andrew! It’s interesting what you said about the date often not seeing the tip. Having also worked as a waitress for many years in high school and college, I’m very sensitive to “how people tip”, and I tended to peek 🫣 at the bill to see the tip! It was very telling, and there were actually a couple times I went to the waitress privately and gave her an additional tip. 😊 The guy didn’t know it, but my overall controlling behavior when first dating again, ran off a few guys 😅!

Andrew - I think it's perfectly fine to ask for a confirmation that they got home ok. I think it's appropriate if the evening went well and you want to meet again. I - as a woman - would have no problem myself asking for that confirmation from my date, if he did most of the driving and has driven in from out of town and has an hour return trip or close to it to get back home. Here were I live in a rural area - evening driving usually makes for close encounters with antlered species - and I've had my share of close calls myself.

I guess you have to date to try things out or be told clearly about unintentional actions, as this only applies to the Chad-like men who may be part of the few that Robert alluded to?- I have read that on a date the woman should talk 4 times more than the man. - In my few dates, it's more like 14x more, soon AI will replace me as a listening post - for the better. Still, you can't get it all right all the time so you can only do your best, be civil, kind and with manners mostly. When you get ghosted just go with the flow, and discuss the frustrations and vengeance on humanity at the men's meeting in the Dr Evil base later. If a man can't change a nappy single-handedly, sort out the nappy, wash up and then feed the baby with the other hand while sorting out the vacuum with their foot.- then he's no real man. babies = stress and work if you see one run for your life. Joni - the purpose of walking on the street side is to prevent the horse and cart from throwing up muck onto her long dress nowadays it has become protecting women from being shoved into traffic but it is a throwback, it's like men can be both potentially ghosted and flattened much worse than just horse poo, all on a date - Dating is more problematic for men these days.

Very interesting and amusing. I'd like more on touching. I personally resist any touching with women, but as I've aged, I've found I often want to just put my arm on a woman's waist completely non-sexually as a kind of reassurance come protection. I resist doing it, though.. I've also started to want to call women 'darling', too, so going soft in the head? I've also been the recipient of much arm touching from women during conversation, having sometimes only just met them at, say, a large Meet Up function. I always assume there is no sexual interest involved, but what say you to all this?

Hi Eddy, I've actually mentioned this before when someone said, "all you need is a Porsche" or something like that ... I personally am NOT impressed by that! To me - a man - especially in our age group - who would spend that kind of money on a "look at me" car just screams insecurity... no thank you! Now a nice "sensible Mercedes" ... that can be attractive and elegant! I'm hurt that you have me all wrong, Eddy! 😂

@@2ndActTV Well a car may not impress and be necessary for attraction, but when it has that four-eye spider look from the front, sort of battle-like paintwork and reminds you of the Thunder Dome it can and has scared a few away.
