I meeaaannnnnnn, I personally don't indulge in the dragging of Adrienne and Israel, but I would never take relationship advice from Adrienne. I suppose that's completely up to what you want though. Personally, I ask myself: Do I want a marriage like them? If the answer is no, then I shouldn't be getting advice from them. Anyways, this sounds a whole lot like settling. I don't think you should be unreasonably picky but there is nothing wrong with having your mind set on something specific. It's not too much to ask for a man with no ex wives or side babies. If that's not what you want, don't feel like you need to "change your filter" just so you can end up with someone. And I hate the analogy too for that reason. Not having a porch on the airbnb you'll be living in for a WEEK, is not the same as someone not having a quality you want for a lifetime. Also, in general, I feel like some people are so quick to insist that God is the reason for their decisions. He's used as justification and a means to shut down opposition. That's not always the case... Sometimes it wasn't God's will. Don't put that on him. That was all you.
@Earth7125 жыл бұрын

My things is, we want what we want, I'm 24, people tell me date a little older, 40 year olds seem to treat me way better but I'm not attracted to them! I'm just not. People say don't worry about age, but to a 24 year old college student, I'm not looking at them like a partner, I prefer someone 25 to 30, mature and Christian. that is hard to find though. Long Ninh Same, I'm turning 24 in two months and my friend tried to hook me up with her 38 year old brother in law. I told her I wasn't attracted to him plus, he was a Jehovah's Witness which isn't exactly the same as Christianity. So I end up looking like the picky single girl because I didn't settle for him.
@autumnsummers65996 жыл бұрын
Long Ninh Also whether or not you are attracted to a guy, a guy proposed to me, I said no, people were saying I should say yes, even though I've only dated him 4 months, and we broke up 3 times, it's like making me feel bad for not being physically attracted to him, like physical attraction can be controlled, I'm so tired of the rules being different for men and women, no man will get with a girl he's not attracted to but women are guilted into doing so.

I know I don't want men with kids unless I have one. I think it's unfair for me to share my man with his child and baby mama. No. I want my own family. And it's not easy because my husband is away working more than he's home but we're in love with each other and we make it work. We don't let the days we're apart tear us apart because we're just thankful for the days we're together. It's about finding the right person who you're truly in love with that makes the relationship worthwhile. There are times when you think, DAMN this is tough, but if that's what it takes to be married to the person that makes you happy it's worth it. These women are seriously a joke. Now they're telling women to settle? They over flatter their unattractive husbands all the time and Loni needs to stop giving their husbands props too like please. I'm tired of this stigma that being single is such a bad thing and that there is something wrong with you if ur single and ppl feel sorry for you. Umm news flash not all single ppl are down and some ppl prefer being single and are happy being single. Relationships and marriage aren't for everybody and that's okay. Don't listen to these women, they were all desperate to be married especially Adrienne & Tamera, Jeannie not so much, but they talk about their husbands and relationships way too much on this show in general. Having expectations and standards for what you want in a partner physically, quality and personality wise is a good thing and a person shouldn't stray away from what they want for a partner just, because they are single for a long time and are having a hard time finding the guy they want. Granted, no one is perfect and there isn't such a thing as Mr. or Mrs. perfect, but there is a fine line between being open and settling, so with that being said please don't settle people.

This is so true! I used to have a height requirement when I dated. The moment I changed my mindset I found my husband! Literally he appeared that same week lol Had I still been super picky about the height, I would have dismissed him with a quickness! And I would have missed out on the man of my dreams!! Definitely everything that I NEEDED!

It's smart to make a list though or you could allow anyone in and you don't want that either. Being stuck with the wrong man because you let the little red flags slide.

Adrienne if you wanted someone with no kids you should have changed your age filter to at least 30 not late 40s. I'm sorry but Israel seems to have too much baggage

1. They have talked about this topic SO MANY TIMES! 2. You can't have a list of qualifications that you expect a man to have and fulfill all of them. That's insane! It's okay to want him to possess (or not possess) certain qualities, but in the end you don't control what your heart wants so what's the point?
@positivevibes85167 жыл бұрын
its very realistic if thats what the woman wants lol telling women to lower their standards does as much as the opposite ...both relationships can end

Positive vibes I'm not telling women to lower their standard, I'm saying that's unrealistic and ridiculous to have a list of 100 demand the man has to meet. To have standard and things you do or don't want them to do or have is fine.

The bar is really low if you feel the need to bring someone down. What is the standard that you hold yourself to?
@livelovelearn63437 жыл бұрын
THE REAL IS MY CEREAL JESSICA M it's all if you know that to be true. Is it facts or things you heard on social media? Is it your life or are you judging someone based on scraps of knowledge pulled away from a Facebook article? Hold yourself to the standard of uplifting someone, kind hearted, and being educated. Good qualities. Not a person who feeds off of drama of someone else's life.
@jessicam10397 жыл бұрын
I believe what you are saying, but this guy is NOT decent. He has admitted one of the side children, I guess he potentially could be only half as bad as I think he is ? You might make that mistake in your 20's, but in your 40's? He's a creep. Period.

Live Love Learn I don't see how the OP insulted Adrienne. He/she is saying that not everyone is willing to give up their "filters" because they have a set of standards in mind.

I really don't know what God has for us but I just don't want my first marriage to be with a man who not only cheated on his wife of 20 plus years but he also had a family with another woman. My future children deserve better than having to hear that story or be around those children whose may feel a certain type of way as time goes by.

But I don't understand why god would choose a man with so much baggage to marry someone. Like a man who has 6 kids, and has already been married, and cheated heavily on his last wife. You mean to tell me this is the best that God can do? This is why I will remain single. I'm not settling, what's wrong with having standards? What's wrong with me not wanting to date someone with kids? SMH. Obviously no man is perfect but I believe that I can find the perfect man for me.
@diamonte186 жыл бұрын
SaraWithoutTheH sometimes we think that it's God's will but in reality it's just what we think based on being strongly attracted to the person. That's why it says to guard your heart because it helps protect you from the men who might not be good for you.

I decided to date someone completely different and found the love of my life. He's 26 yrs older than me but age isn't nothing but a number.

Real talk - all my girls (who I know are great catches) have this perspective and are still single, borderline spinsters now. You got to think of it logically, not just emotionally. The thing about the AirBnB analogy is the options you will get is dependent on how many men you actually have to filter through. If you want to sort and sift, then girl you have to be meeting men at rapid rates. When I realized that and actually put in effort, my dating life blossomed like nobody's business. And maybe some of my gfs wanted to judge me but truth is, if you are not willing to put in effort meet people, how are you gonna be in a relationship? And if you are not going to give people chances, how can you be surprised? Moreover expect others to give you a chance. That's a key characteristic I notice in my friends ithat are in happy relationships versus my friends who are single & in unhappy relationships as well.

I'm reposting a comment I saw on Facebook & I think it's 100% true: It's funny how us women are supposed to settle for less and go easy when it comes to choosing a man. Some women get with a man who is struggling, come up with them from being broke, ride or die then.....he leaves that woman for a better woman "upgrading" himself to what he felt he deserved all along (Jesse Williams). When it comes to men they have their whole check list laid out, they won't settle for less. If a man wants to set his standards high & then so should we as women.
