It is interesting, and a little scary, how right you are. Over time I fell in love with being a good dad for the kids. It was a pattern of behavior that I worked on intentionally, and seeing my wife prioritize the kids didn't bother me at first. After 8 years, now I see that I hardly matter at all to any of them other than as a wallet. The kids give her credit for the good I do because she brought me in, but when they think I have fallen short, that gets labeled as "of course, he is a man and that's how they are. You can't trust men, especially white men". I am unwittingly participating in my own subjugation, and I stay for the sake of kids that will never value my input. I married a single mother when the child was 4. She cheated and we divorced but it all happened after my step- daughter turned to an adult. Our father daughter relationship is still excellent but she doesn't want anything to do with her mother for what she did. The divorce was amicable so I dodges a bullet but this story goes to show children, girl or boy need a proper father in their life. I taught her well enough she turned out to be respectful, (yet strong willed) enough to be disgusted by what her mother did. My step-daughter has a good man and they both treat each other wit the upmost respect. To this day, at 24 yr of age she still tells me regularly she's proud and happy to have a father like me. This is a good ending for the man but I would never take that chance again at marriage period or any kind of a relationship with a single mother. Funny enough, one of my best friends had a hideous divorce, torn away from his daughter and was falsely accused of assault by his wife during their marriage. She was a complete sociopath. When I asked him if he'd get married again and have children he said yes. Yikes.

I sort of stayed in touch with the girl as friends (we never had anything going on more than a friendship). anyways fast forwards a few years later she admitted to me she was the one cheating on my friend. she felt bad and was hoping he was cheating too so they could be even ?!? 😂 2nd story: that girl is insane.
