Just binged all your episodes. I know how life can get in the way sometimes. I hope you keep on working to bring her back to full glory. Would love to see that! Have to admit, you almost lost me when you were talking about the motor. The Chevy 350 thing kinda got to me. I'm glad you decided to do it right and stick with an original 2.4. 👍

Keep it stock/oldskool. Much more fun for your wife to. I wouldn't go restomod myself. I would recommend buying a complete polybushing kit for the whole car. Then you keep the oldskool feel but with much better handling, I have it myself to. Also because the stock rubber bushing cost a fortune and are almost not to be found anymore 👍👌

Heck yeah!! Thats the plan. Thats why we didnt go 2jz or Rb or SR or even LS swap, although alot of those were tempting!! I want us to feel like we went back in time to the 1970s when we get in and drive the 240z!!

Firstly it’s a good move to do some of the video with you narrating it as a voice over, coupled with edited highlights and not too much time lapse. A lot more engaging and smoother than winging it in real time throughout👍 I’m not sure if you sanded that 1/2” of filler from the driver’s door just to demonstrate how bad it was but I think I’d have taken one look at it and decided it was junk. The 280Z door looks a better candidate although I can’t quite remember if the internals are a straight swap or directly interchangeable. You’re showing great tenacity whatever and I now get why you want to do all the fabrication and filler work before tackling the mechanicals. I’m here for the journey so keep grinding dusty (you’ll literally be Dusty Mac by the time you’ve finished 😂😂).
@DustyMacsGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yooo Mark!!!! Glad ya enjoyed the new style of video. I sanded the door initially to see what was under neath, further I got, worse it got lol. I also didnt know if it was gonna be a simple ish repair. Turns out it wasnt 😂 Glad your along for the journey!!! At the end of the video I laid the 2 doors side by side and it appears the mounts/latches and mounting holes are identical. Appreciate the support as always!! Glad your here for the journey!!!

Fitzee says he didn't know he had a son out there....surprised the HELL out of him ! Check door lock and latch. Since your 280 Door doesn't have, a rubber seal in the top door window frame. It's an early door and you may luck out in the door lock latch department ( being the same )

240 280 use totally different bolt location and door strike plates. They are not interchangeable. You'll have to fix or find a 240 door. I would spot weld the holes shut and beat the panel back to shape.
