Heya Datto. I know I'm probably just another comment in the chain but I still wanted to go ahead and voice exactly how you have influenced my life. I can already tell that this may be an extensive comment so please bear with me haha. I feel like the best way to explain how much you've helped me in my life is to actually tell the story of how I came to start watching you and how that impacted me. I was a pretty lonely kid in middle school when Destiny came out originally. I had 1 friend who didn't even attend the same school I did and we only ever got to hang out on the weekends, so during the week I just kept my head down and didn't talk to anyone due to me being a pretty shy person, waiting for the weekend to roll around so me and my friend could hang out. During one of those weekends, he pulled up a video to show me a game that would be coming out, that game was Destiny. He showed me all the trailers for it, the E3 gameplay reveal, the live action trailer, and introduced me to MoreConsole who was covering all of that content. I was completely mesmerized by it. The game itself looked incredible, and I just absolutely HAD to play it when it released. I unfortunately missed the beta due to a family trip, but even so my eyes were glued to the internet. I watched every single video that came out in hopes of getting a better understanding of what Destiny was going to be. My life had moved from me meandering through each day waiting for the weekend to me being actually excited to be able to go home and see if there was anything new announced for Destiny. Nevertheless, launch day came. I played on my Xbox One that my mom had gotten for the family. And I just absolutely fell for the game. It was everything I wanted (even though looking back, it was a pretty barebones experience). I remember getting the Bladedancer subclass at level 15, running a strike (I forget the name, but the one on Venus with the escaped Archpriest) in my excitement before realizing I hadn't even leveled it up enough to get my double jump so I wasn't able to help progress the strike. But I still had a blast. This now leads to when YOU entered my life. About 3 weeks after release, I caught wind of the Vault of Glass. A super difficult, 6 man activity that would test my limits as a player. And I absolutely NEEDED to try it. But I was terrified of the prospect, scared that I would actually need to talk to other people, and that I would mess something up and get flamed for it. So I did all the research I could, in hopes that I would be able to enter the Vault while knowing exactly what to do. That's when I stumbled upon you. I watched all of your guides repeatedly, internalizing them. Eventually I felt confident enough to be able to try and go onto the Destiny forums to find a team. I was able to and so began my raiding career. Now of course, the first time was absolutely terrible. I was low level, bad at video games, and a prepubescent teen. We disbanded at the Templar, feeling defeated. But that experience defined a turning point for me. As time went on, I went from a shy, outspoken kid to an actual Raid Sherpa, I was a 13 year old kid teaching college students what to do under my old tag R0GU3P0TAT014. All because your videos gave me the confidence to even TRY. I stuck with Destiny, even after my one friend fell off of it. I would get excited to raid on all three characters each week, even doing extra clears afterwards to just help people learn because I liked to teach people these fights, just like how you taught me to do them. Over the course of D1 I still watched all of your content, I strove to be like you as a player, eventually attempting my first Day 1 raid in Rise of Iron. Every time a raid came out I would go to your channel to watch your guides, to gain the confidence to put myself in an LFG raid environment, and to be able to teach others to do the same. I met so many people that I'm glad to be able to call my friends. We would go on to compete in the raid races for Deep Stone Crypt and Vow of the Disciple. We started to do dungeons blind. I became more confident in myself socially. And as I saw you grow as a person throughout the years, it inspired me to do the same. It's no exaggeration to say that I am quite literally a better person because of you. Both you and the game saved my social life, and I honestly don't know who I'd be today if I hadn't clicked on your VoG guides. I went from a loner of a kid, to a raid Sherpa, to a pretty confident person because of you. I started to hop in your stream, subbing to you and giving you these "Monthly Riddles" for you and chat to solve if you even remember that lol. The reason I wanted you to know this isn't to try and brag about being a "long time viewer." I'm saying this so that you know you've done way more than just educate the masses on what exotics are good for what fights. You've changed my life for the better. I live in my own apartment, working as a Consultation Agent for Geek Squad, translating the skills and confidence I gained through teaching people how to raid into teaching people how computers work, all because of you. You're more than just an icon to me, you're an actual turning point in my life. I can't thank you enough for what you've done for me, and whatever you decide to do a year from now I'll support in any way that I can. You deserve the best, Datto.

A recommendation, if it's affordable and accessible: consider trying to get a small studio space if you're going to carry forward with content creation after Final Shape. I say this because, during the pandemic, being trapped in the same room, at the same computer, doing my job (game developer) and then playing games after work, made me really hate being in the same chair for most of the day. As soon as I was able to go back to the studio for work, the commute gave me a break to shift into/out of work mode, walking more at work made me feel less lethargic, and the list goes on. I know how you feel but I can't imagine what it's like to have done this for 10 years. Hope the break goes well for you, when it arrives!

We have seen your incredible cosplay, buy a house, get a makeover, marry someone incredible and add Brim to your life. Thank you for always being honest and making us a part of your life! I think I speak for everyone that this game wouldn't be quite the same without you!!

God damn dude, I don't even play Destiny anymore but you've been here since I was a teenager. I'm in my last year of college now. Honestly got a little teary-eyed thinking about it and how you've been feeling. A lot has changed over the years - when you take your break, you'll always have a crowd of people to come back to who're here for you and your personality, style, everything that makes you and your content yours. Thanks for making my late nights over the past decade a little better. I hope the next ten are relaxing and fruitful.

In terms of what you said regarding imposter syndrome. There are other creators out there, but there’s only one Datto! You’ve always been a Titan main in a Hunter meta, if you get what I’m saying. We watch you because, right from the beginning of the game, you’ve embodied the style and spirit of the character you play: trustworthy, honest, matter-of-fact, hard-working, relentless, an inspiration. Over the years we’ve come to know you as a Titan main IRL: a dependable person, a haven of honesty, a bastion of bluntness. You’ve been playing this role for 10 YEARS, and its tiring. But what you’ve done with your content throughout the years has Fortified the Destiny community, to the point where I’m not even sure this game would exist in the capacity it does without your effort. When Lightfall ends, a huge fight for the Gaurdian ends, a fight for Bungie ends, and a fight for you will end. What comes after that is an unknown, its scary, its ominous, and I’m sure its stressing you out. Just try to remember that change won’t destroy you, you’re a lot stronger than that. Your mark on this community isn’t something that KZbin algorithms can wash away, you won’t become irrelevant just by taking a break, and if you come back with a different approach your fans will continue to support you.

Truer words have never been spoken. That was beautifully worded. Almost shed a tear (only other time I almost cried was when Iron Man died at the end of Endgame, so that was one of the highest compliments from me, but that probably doesn't mean much to you. Still though, that was amazingly worded).
@viable3589 Жыл бұрын
Now that I mention it, here's to Final Shape having a story that can compete with Endgame's, and even make me almost cry (and that post-Final Shape Destiny doesn't end up like the post-Endgame MCU).

We love Datto in this house. I remember how excited I was to find your videos right after I graduated high school and got into Destiny. The raid guide music puts a smile on my face any time I hear it. All this optimal content over the years. I know I’m not alone when I say thank you for all of it, and we’ll always be ready to watch whatever you decide to give us.

Datto my man, For as long as i've known you, basically since before Dark Below, I seen you in couple of my friends streams back then, I know how much effort you've put into all your videos and have been rooting for you since the start to see where you have gotten yourself to, with mainly one game has been nothing short of incredible and inspiring. You deserve the break and an Editor, you can still do everything you wanna do and free up some time for yourself. Cuz at the end of the day, you should be happy, and I applaud you for all the extra work you have done, but you should take any time off you need to be with Danielle and do what you both enjoy. Finding your love for gaming again could be as simple as taking time away from gaming when you can. Much love brother.

Destiny came out while I was in college and now I'm a doctor on his last month of internship. Though my time is limited, I continue to play Destiny on a weekly basis. Your videos have been a consistent part of my experience with the game for nearly a decade now. Consistency and clarity is something I've always valued, and you deliver on both fronts. Continue doing what you're doing, good sir.

Datto - thank you for taking the sabbatical. As someone who works in a very high volume, high stress environment, I've had to take a month because my physical health was being drained due to the stress, fatigue and overwork I was putting myself through. You've been on the clock for 10 years. You deserve much more than a month. We will always support the decision that is better for you and your overall health. Much love

Glad to hear honest feelings Datto, it means a lot to us that have been following you since D1. I personally encourage a break if that’s how you feel. It’s great to step away and breathe some new air once in a while. Thank you for all the years of amazing tutorials, and build guides, and just your genuine opinion on Destiny. No matter what, you have made your mark on the community, and have become one of my personal favorite KZbinrs. 24:02!

Datto’s always been one of those guys that I watch on occasion, like for guides, opinions, or even content like his stream highlights of funny moments, compilations, and what not. But those times I do watch, I can see the joy behind his work and how much of himself is in the videos. Thank you for Ten Years Datto. You go enjoy yourself

More than anyone else, Datta is responsible for me enjoying Destiny for 10 years. The game released 2 days before my birthday. I was allowed to skip school to pick up the game and play on launch. I played for three weeks and didn't really understand what the game was. I dropped it for a few months until I stumbled across one of your videos. Then I watched another one, and another. You displayed the game as it was meant to be enjoyed and in doing so taught me how cool the game really is. Thank you so much, because 10 years later I'm still loving it.

Only been watching for a few months. What I will say is that, whatever you end up doing, you'll be an asset there. Sure, there may be newcomers pulling some numbers, but this level of commitment, this amount of experience, and, most importantly, this ability to deep dive into things as much as you do? Sure, you might miss a detail, but this is a big game; that's to be expected. You've got a skillset that any one, any thing, or any IP, could benefit from.

I started watching your videos when I hadn’t even hit puberty yet. You probably have no idea how much your videos meant to me when they came out. I was like “ A NEW DATTO VIDEO, AGGHHHHH!”. I have always loved your videos and your channel. When a new DattoDoesDestiny came out, I just couldn’t wait to watch it because I knew that you really did pour your soul into every single video. Do whatever you gotta do man. Full support!❤️♾️

Although I work in a completely different field, I feel like I can relate to a lot of the things you mention in this video. The imposter syndrome, being worn out, feeling guilty when not working, feeling like you should be more grateful. I see where you're coming from and I think a break will definitely be good for you. 10 years is a very long time and I can only imagine the level of burnout you feel at that point. I say take as much time as you need. Your mental health is more important. You've accomplished so much in this space already and I wouldn't be worried about what happens when you come back if I were you. You're Datto, man. All of your subs will still be there when you come back. I know I will. Hell, even if you decide you never want to come back, that's a valid choice and you should do what's best for you. Anyway, I just wanted to say I've loved watching your Destiny content for the past 10 years and I appreciate everything you do for this community and this game. Cheers, much love, hoping you take the break you deserve and that it gives you some relief.

No matter what happens Datto i will never stop supporting you and your channel for as long as it exists. I could say that you are pretty much the reason why i play this game. Through all the lows of destiny it always felt like i was bombarded by negativity and crazy people in the community and seeing your videos always made me enjoy destiny in the way i enjoy it and not to let others ruin my experience. Your personality is my favorite out of everyone I’ve seen on KZbin and i will stick around here until the channel meets its end. Thanks for being here.

This game came out when I was in early high school, and you and byf were 2 channels I was in on watching from the start. I have had the same destiny one poster on my wall since I was a sophomore in high school in 2014, and your channel was one of the forces keeping me invested in the game. It’s been a great journey watching your videos even when I wasn’t playing the game as much or even at all. You deserve a break. Enjoy it

I haven't really played Destiny seriously since my high school/early college years, but I still watch your videos. Your Destiny videos are similar to 3kliksphilip's CS videos; they keep me up to date with a game I used to love but sadly no longer have time for. I miss Destiny and the friends I played it with, but watching your videos reminds me of them and the fun we had together. For that, I can only say thank you for all the great videos and I look forward to whatever you do beyond Destiny!
@spork5678 Жыл бұрын
Hey Datto, thanks. I’ve only been playing destiny for about two and a half years, but I’ve been watching you for much longer, just because I enjoyed you and your content so much and happened to have a passing interest in the game. You greatly deserve a break and whatever path you decide to take after, I really hope you are able to find a more happy equilibrium between your work and your life/passions so you can find more time to enjoy your life and indulge in passions without having to constantly worry about work. You talk about your loss of interest in gaming in the video and you’ve mentioned it a few times in streams lately, but it’s always sad to hear someone lose the love for something they used to be so passionate about, and I hope you are able to rekindle it, or find something else in its stead. Whatever you may decide to do; thank you for all the entertainment the past 10 years and best of wishes for the next year and beyond. You are pogger.

one day it won't be "thank you for watching, see you next time" it'll be "goodbye" and while that makes me a little sad, i'd hope that you get to go out on your own terms. you've done so much for the community and put in such hard work you totally deserve everything you've received or accomplished. wish you all the best in whatever you do
