Like say how could Fikrul even resurrect the Mindbender? It doesn't make sense from the Forsaken Campaign we were actively part of. Let alone from a Lore standpoint. His corpse/body/essence/soul should have been obliterated from all of existence due to being in HIS pocket Throne World that immediately begin to violently collapse when we ended him (due to being no where near the "power level" of higher Darkness beings like say Crota), we needed to leave it, otherwise we would have been erased too.

To be honest, the entire activity felt like a WitchQueen campaign mission with one more mechanic and an exotic thrown in. I kinda hoped that the organ mechanic would be explored further into the mission but it's mainly used for discovering secrets, which is cool but it feels underutilised. The mirror mechanic is neat but simple, same goes for the motes system. I really hope that this mission isn't a preview of the upcoming dungeon in Episode 3 in-terms of overall length and scope.

underrated part of the episode that no one talks about is that fikrul is finally dead and we don't have to hear his annoying hypocritical baby-brained dialogue anymore, i can't tell if it's intentional or not, like does he know the scorn are corpses and just thinks it's funny to call us dead thing like a slur or does he genuinely think they're just normal eliksni?
@ixaldok837913 сағат бұрын
I’d say Fikrul sees the Scorn as a purified version of the Eliksni, HIS “better” iteration of the Eliksni that doesn’t need the Traveler. And so he view us as a worse iteration because we still have the Traveler and use its power. But it more likely is that he is a massive hypocrite of a person.

He been calling us dead thing since forsaken, since technically yes, we too are corpses, just revived by light. He knows his are undead because only He, could be revived before (Through his dark ether, but we ended him once and for all) and he had the ability to reform only dead corpses of Fallen but couldnt for Scorn. In which he did revive scorn barrons (But we continue to slaughter them again), but also had the ability to then terraform Living Fallen with the echo. He sees the Undead as a purified version of Eliksni due to reviving capabilities, and because (Former uldren, now Crow) taught him after he was ressurected by Uldren through a wish in which Riven of a Thousand Voices Maniuplated (This happened just before forsaken, lore says thats how the Fanatic/Fikrul came to be, this also apparently birthed the Dark Ether) Hope this clarifies!

I think because of the lack of timegating, the pacing is kinda rushed for Eramis’s character progression (trade off for the good that is no timegating), but after coming back from a long hiatus it’s refreshing that eramis isn’t wholly redeemed and that she still dislikes humanity, but the love of her people is more important to her so she instead just leaves us alone to go recreate Riis instead of trying to take over Sol for the eliksini.
@Lyresi14 сағат бұрын

I mean we're also missing a lot of voice lines that would be from having to set up the pace of "Okay let's go in next week" that would slowly but surely hint at this ending as well. I'm pretty sure a ton of dialogue also was torn out for onslaught salvation and Tomb of Elders because it wouldn't make sense to leave a bunch of dialogue in that was just be skipped over. So we as the player base really don't have much of the puzzle in our hands to assemble at least in terms of dialogue.@@Lyresi

Honestly i didnt find the act too horrendous. Like the exotic mission was cool but just not difficult or complex enough. The shotgun is quite fun to use and the crafting for it seems interesting. My gripe with the act was doing the mission itself 3 times, now the boss changes were nice but it just doesnt feel like enough of a difference, just make different encounters / branch off points and make it have rougelike elements to make the mission stand out. As for the ending... so i liked the cutscene for fikruls death but i have one major problem. We do not owe eramis nor the eliksni an apology. Look like sure saint went on a crusade but at the end of they day they arrived in the system and immidiately started attacking us / demanding we fork over the traveller etc. So this whole thing with the apothacary behaving the way they do and eramis along with it being encouraged is baffling. Besides crow no one in this episode learned anything nor used their brains for more than "We need X for Y" The vampire theme couldve been better. They could have introduced more types of revenant scorn over the acts with different abilities and designs. Im just baffled at how badly handled the story is with the eliksni and how pretty much racist behaviors are encouraged towards humans from some eliksni. Like we offered sanctuary, you spit in our face. We defeat the witness, you test our patience. Like if we wanted to we could wipe out all the opposing fallen but we dont. I sincerely hope the dread dont become a side joining faction and especially hope that nezarec, a resurrected rhulk or some other powerful disciple lead them instead of some random psion that gets a little bit of mention because they had something to do with us so many seasons ago.
@iponce2Сағат бұрын
I like eramis as a character a lot, but it bothers me immensely her rhetoric towards humanity. The fallen are adaptable enough to thrive anywhere, humanity was down to a single city that really wasn't all that safe. They showed up and started punching down on people who just had their own whirlwind. Idk why nobody in this game ever mentions that. Making peace is acknowledging how you've hurt someone, and how someone else has hurt you. Eramis never does this, just acts like humanity have been the only ones being violent and aggressive this whole time.
@dexterthielhelm434213 сағат бұрын
Honestly, one simple mechanic that could've made the mission more fun (in my opinion) would be fikrul reviving the barons then fighting them one more time each during their respective encounter. Then again at the final boss, with the three barons (bomber, trickster, mindbender) being all at once. A more in depth change would be adding the Rider as an opening rather than the trickster. That way each baron would be revived to an extent. Plus, the lore says that Fikrul and her relationship is complicated, so he doesn't have to revive her again

1:08 "Can't wait for the reused content people to come out of the wood work, 'bring back the Tangled Shore,' Bungie brings back the Tangled Shore, 'not like that!'" Come on now, are we really doing this? Yes, it's objectively disgusting that Bungie charged for content, then removed it, then resold it to people who want it back, only to bring it back temporarily, intending to remove it a second time when these episodes are done. It's not JUST that it's "reused content." Lots of games reuse content to be efficient or ship updates or whatever. It's that Bungie is making even more money on assets and content they've already charged for and already removed. That's been the problem for the past 5 years since they announced the DCV. And it's still one of their biggest business disasters.

that ending was almost certainly a victim of layoffs. old riis was definitely meant to be a vista, and idk maybe even with a boss fight against nezarec. but maybe that’s just me coping. however, i AM happy the writers never walked back on eramis hating humanity. destiny has a tendency to “engooden” a character who lives, where they eventually like humans and stand with them. eramis is thankfully a rare exception, where she never once is glad about helping us, all the way to the end where she eventually just leaves. despite eramis being a character pretty much nobody actually cares for, we need more to be written like her, where they stick to who they are and experience growth without ever losing a core pillar of themselves

Personally, I enjoyed this structure of storytelling. Giving us all the story content in one week allows me to breeze through the story immediately and go to do other things I enjoy, either inside Destiny or in other games. I also enjoyed this Episode’s story, if only as a slight improvement over the last Episode. Fikrul’s story is wrapped up with a bow, Eramis’s arc is resolved while still giving us an avenue to see the character again in the future, and Misraaks is finally named Kell of Kells. Honestly, the only two things I have to complain about this season are the lack of seasonal weapon crafting and the sheer number of bugs. Both things are major complaints to be sure, but they can be fixed in the future.

Unfortunately this method reveals there's not much of a story to tell and that before the allowed breeze through, it shows us how much nothingburger wild goose chasing the have us do for 97% of the story "quest". Unlike Echoes yeah it at least ends instead of blueballing but it quite literally feels like its rushing everyone out the door. It doesn't try to connect and properly structure anything quite literally being a lets say 4th graders first introduction to story format in which they quite literally only have the introduction/ rising action/ conclusion, makes sense for a 4th grader not for a Multi-million dollar bought out in the billions company

I think the big mistep story wise is the fact they tried to make the Fallen as big and wild as the Hive with little to none of the build-up. I mean this mostly within the game, but even in the story, Beyond Light had the Clovis Bray and the Exos that players could focus on instead of the Fallen. I would have rather seen the Fallen try to be compared more in the eyes of humanity, but they tried to make them as epic and harrowing as the Hive, and it doesn't work to have both.

Act 3, equally as okay as act 1. The overall writing part of Eramis redemtion feels very rushed. The ending is much better than echoes, considering there was an actual ending of a character that keeps coming back. The Exotic mission is fine, but i think we all miss the part of discovering an exotic mission like the older days, which could've gave purpose to destinations again, rather than it being used several times just for seasonal dialouge. The overall loot is bad, only act 1 loot being the most interesting, despite Act 3 having the exotic. The shotgun is fun. Overall, not interesting season, but better than Echoes. Of all people, Mithrax deserved the Echo. At the very least if Eramis freed him of the curse THEN gave him the echo, it would begin her real redemption arc instead of this ending we got with an immediate redemption. (Eramis is a controversial character as she’s meant to portray both a wounded/rageful survivor and a leader, but she’s too much of a hypocrite and too full of ego to really get a message across without it going back to her issues. Making her the immediate hero of the Eliksni compared to the Kell of Light who has long deserved a win like this is crazy)

Honestly amazing they can make Crow begrudgingly tolerated but continue to force Eramis into the story despite being a god awful character. Beyond disappointed how this whole season was touted as “vampire scorn” and how the exotic mission was talked up as “Castlevania-themed” when neither was true.

So glad that TFS was so good. I can feel comfortable considering all the following stories as non cannon fan stories. Screw it

I also suffer from missing the one season where Misraks is somehow corrupted by Nezerac. So I'm like WTF.

There was so much character drama to be had with Fikrul and Crow and there was almost nothing this entire season. What a waste of Fikrul

The mission was cool and I enjoyed it way more than the Choir of One mission. But at the same time? We waited a month for a timegated mission that lasted like maybe about an hour not counting any bugged encounters (final boss bugged a few times and softlocked) and the ending was......well it was an ending. Nothing crazy. Im glad the catalysts weren't time gated so theres that but there's really nothing here that gets me excited enough to keep playing or even get hyped for the next Episode.

I hope we get a dungeon that is the end to Fikrul. I really liked the atmosphere of this mission but it felt very underwhelming. If they play off this style and do something like this in a future dungeon, I think that would be rad.

I found the mission to be a bit disappointing, just walking around and lighting fires to get to another room became old real quick... And regarding the shotgun, i'll most likely vault it as i dont see any use for it in my current builds... Although the design of the gun is pretty cool, gives off Van Helsing vibes..

Yeah, what a flawless DISAPPOINTMENT this Episode was. _Another one._ I swear, if the next Episode even DARES to revert MothMommy's brilliant character development or worse, REVIVE ORYX... I'm going to be royally pissed off. Because as a D1 player, "The Taken King" was my entry point into the saga and I loved it SO MUCH. They better NOT touch those memories of mine.
