Some of the Queen's lines did hint to her actually being the Voice of Riven, like her calling uldren "oh brother mine". I swear she said something else ahamkara-ish but I've forgotten it.

There was almost no prior lore that mentions Riven. With context, it makes sense. It was a shape shifting Ahamkara that worked with Mara Sov to build her throne realm. It was evantually taken by what I can assume to be Savathun.

Umbreonic Same. I like that the cost is high, but masterwork cores are still very rare for more players. I dismantled nearly all my year 1 masterwork weapons and armor (mostly from the raid) so I have a lot of cores, but I'm afraid to use them because they go so quickly. I'll probably wait until I start getting raid gear and see what's really worth keeping.

yeah i love that too , i like how he glanced over how everyone prior to the DLC cant even get cores anymore if they wanted to infuse. also the fact that if you dont have many Y1 exotics to begin with ( new player, pc / ps4 player) your chances of getting a new forsaken exotic are like 1 in 4 with an abysmal drop rate. almost 30 hours since dlc launched and im still exoticless

This DLC was amazing for me. One because I didn’t grind, I ran through all the lvls under the light recommendation making the lvls more difficult and epic at the same time. The voice of Riven caught me by surprise. Toland,Mara everything caught me by surprise

Being invaded doesn't matter if you don't touch your boss still the buff goes up to at least x3 so what you do is wait until your invader is gone and then you damage the fuck outta your boss. A Titan with melting point is so handy.

Forsaken is soo good... Wasn’t expecting to play for six hours straight getting to the Dreaming City. By the time I got to do 3 cycles of Blind Well my hands started getting tired from clutching my mouse so hard. And I’m so excited to see what the Dreaming City has in store, considering the other looter shooters don’t have anywhere close to a decent patrol space without the experience Bungie has gained over the past 4 years. Without a doubt, D2 Y2 is going to be the best year Destiny has seen.

I wish doing high level stuff like the dreaming city and heroic strikes gave some incentive to do them. I love the look and feel of the dreaming city, but I feel like there isn't a whole lot of reason to do anything there other than farming for gear. I've got really bad luck with the random rolls, and a lot of my play this week was doing activities over and over hoping to get a specific weapon with better perks and not really getting any luck. The options to get quicker loot feels really slow. I got my first exotic engram drop today, and it was the prospector, and I really wasn't happy about that.

mine would be linear fusion rifles in gambit. i constant get 1 shot across the map as soon as the invader arrives. as they have no dropoff 1 shot body shot and no range limit.

The linear fusion rifle problem is only really for sleeper simulant because I'm pretty sure all other linear fusions have to get a headshot to 1 shot kill.

I just got back into the game in June, play at MOST 2 hours a night after putting the kids to sleep, and a few hours on the weekends and I had 153 cores going into Forsaken. Granted it's nothing compared to Datto, but if you dismantle your year 1 weapons and gear that you don't plan to upgrade, you should have a lot. Do the old raid because half the drops came master worked for me and I just kept dismantling them.

I'm worried about the power progression. Supposedly the second soft cap is at 520 and some Powerful Rewards start dropping at only +1 power. You could be 520, go do your Flashpoint, and be rewarded with a 521 item. It may end up being much worse than Warmind's progression. Having most of the avenues to increase your power become increasingly worthless is concerning to me. We have activities outside of Raids that require high power level now. Enemies during Heroic Public Events are already at 530 in the starting area of the Dreaming City. If the people start feeling like they're making almost zero progress, then they're more likely to just quit and do something else. Forsaken brought a lot of people back, but I'm worried we may lose a lot of people if the above scenario happens. On a completely different note, Lake of Shadows used to be much worse before Blackout got toned down. Those shadow wall blasts counted as melee attacks and would one-shot you.

I think power progression is slightly broken at the moment. I ran all of my challenges across all three characters and got stuck at 515 power. Tons of duplicate/nonhelpful engram rewards. Meanwhile other streamers I was watching while I grinded who did the exact same things I did are pushing 530. It all just feels like luck at the moment, which sort of blows. That being said, hoping for better luck next week. As an aside, if I get another Edge Transit grenade launcher from a powerful engram next week, I am going to lose it. I have like 15.

Bungie confirmed this is a glitch. However, I agree with your statement. Then again, the grind of Warframe is 10x more than Forsaken yet people play that constantly. But people have been loyal to that game longer than Destiny. I'm so glad they are catering to vets again who pour their heart and soul into this game to grind and light level, but for the casuals, they may find it too much effort for too little a reward and give up.

I'm mostly just concerned with the grind to get normal mode raid ready as some friends and I are trying to get as close to 560 as we can so we can all experience the raid for the first time together. If some of us are raid-ready at launch while others have to wait 2 more resets because of duplicate drops, it'll be disappointing.

I honestly feel like they should scrap the whole powerful gear and milestone thing and just have different activities drop different level rewards. I'm 516 right now, mainly because I would rather die than spend hundreds of tokens getting the full sets of crucible and vanguard armor to get just a couple quests done, but Forsaken was/is good. I came into the Destiny series when Dark Below was released, so I may have slight bias, but, I do think Taken King was better. It just had a better, less cluttered, feel to it. I am extremely excited for the raid tho, and the dreaming city is amazing :P

Great video man, and I fully agree with your observation on Gambit, it did feel like if you are ahead it becomes more of a detriment to your team! A whole army of taken blockers around the prime evil and the invasions just don’t stop. I thought Bungie was balancing this by the “prime evil compromised” debuff but it just doesn’t feel enough! Maybe have a cap on blockers, either two large, three medium or five small or some combination of that. I would totally see this as a valid strategy where teams delay their mote banking until after the opposing team summons their boss then overwhelm them with blockers and invasions. The risk of loosing motes to invaders can be minimized if they work as a coordinated team, it’s still 4vs1

there's an ascendant chest in all 3 lost sectors and another like 6 around the map, i got the achievement for getting all of them, there's an ascendant challenge in each lost sector as well, there's also a lot of chest challenges either have to do with slamming arc charges, awoken charges or killing things. Ive gotten around 100-150 dark fragments from one character doing public events, all ascendant chests/chest challenges and also got a few new dreaming city weapons from the cats and chests, along with the full set of dreaming city armor, and also theres alot of lore pieces in the city and even in the ascendent challenges

Actually , during solstice of heroes , I got the pc version of D2 and ran into a group of complete randoms doing escalation protocol . I could tlel because noone was in a fireteam , and we DID complete it . It's kinda nice to see that kind of thing , complete strangers managing to work together without even talking .

"You should have an emotional response to getting an Exotic." Well, the only one I've had every time I've gotten an Exotic to drop so far (three in total, and for reference I'm pretty much done with my third character going through the Powerful Engrams). And out of those three, two were Year 1 dupes and the other was the Heart of Inmost Light, which is garbage. Plus, Xur hasn't sold anything in months (or dropped from the engram that's been bugged for months and never fixed). So the only emotional response Bungie has gotten from me when it comes to Exotics is anger and frustration. Should Exotics be showered down onto us? I guess not, but I also don't think they should be this fucking rare and dupes be this goddamn common. Obviously the best solution would be a middle-ground, but if we had to pick one, I'd rather be showered in Exotics. The Crucible has been ruined for the tenure of Destiny 2. Bungie didn't fix team-shooting with the weapon changes, and in fact made it worse. Not to mention doing things like bringing back shotguns, one-hit Shoulder Charge, etc. makes it even more unbearable to play. Hell, I got so sick and tired of it that I ended of just going AFK in Rumble for my matches to get the Powerful Engram. Gambit is a cool mode that can be fun, but it requires a full team to not eventually rip your hair out. Borderline every time I've played it, I've been the sole person doing anything, maybe having one other person contributing. Or we'll summon the Prime Evil and the opposing team will only have like thirty motes, but will still win the round because they get eight invasions in a row and my teammates don't do shit. I get that it's new, but it needs some major tweaking to the invasions and matchmaking for it to be viable to play more than just to get whatever I wanted and get the fuck out. Also, I don't know if it's just me buggin' or something, but when I've played Strikes and Gambit, I've randomly been getting absolutely slaughtered for no reason. Again, I could just be missing something (and no, it's not Power Level related), but it's pretty obnoxious. Outside of those things, along with the cost of infusion, not being to re-roll Masterworks, and some other I guess more minor things, I like Forsaken. Of course, we'll have to wait until the Raid is out and then like another week after that to get some real final verdicts, but I'm having fun again, for the most part. The only other thing I think Bungie didn't capitalize on (and I don't think they ever will, but they desperately need to) is letting people equip three pieces of Exotic armor, giving people more control over character-building and fixing the issue with some Exotics being way too good to not use, forcing the rest to be unusable by default.

You do have the option to buy them, you can “grind” them out of legendary weapons as well trough the new masterwork system, and you can also play year 1 activities to get year 1 masterworks to dismantle. Let me explain why I dislike the current abysmal drops of exotics. Destiny loot is not imo exciting enough for me to care about legendaries. The perks aren’t crazy fun like in borderlands. Exotics look neat and feel neat. If I play for twenty five hours and get boots. I’m not going to be happy. If I play for another twenty hours and get a repeat from year one I’m not going to be having fun. Forsaken was amazing. I don’t think exotics should rain from the heavens. But some kind of system where the game tries to give you exotics based on time played would be appreciated. For every two or three hours the drop chance goes up by 1 % I don’t know if that’s accurate but it would be a good place to start.

...so grind for good masterwork on top of grind for "god roll" (something that seems like a lazy-man's static rolls imo)...any waning interest I might have had probably flew out the window...I literally feel like crying in frustration right now... The gameplay itself sounds exciting...although if that was the gameplay I wanted, I'd probably just go back to D1. Personally I feel like Forsaken is the regression and that all of D2's year 1 was a lame attempt at innovating before just blatently giving up. I'm welcome to a good reason as to the contrary, although you might have to fight a bit of my personal grief first. As for the story...I think it sounds pretty awesome, and in any other game I might have jumped on it rather quickly...I wish to see it for myself and experience, yet again however I would rather not come back to destiny as it currently is. Quickly I want to explain my opinion on static rolls v random rolls for context. Everybody wants to have the same specific type of roll eventually and typically not having that roll gets your butt handed back to you on a silver platter. This tending to be the trend, then how would that be different from giving everyone the god rolls on the first drop? I suspect that people's reason is that people don't get it right away and it extends the game's lifecycle (based solely on having heard that argument before.) So basically I'm getting from that statement is thus; I want pointless fluff to pad out an otherwise bland and boring game...mind you I loved the game because of every reason except random rolls...to which my response is usually, so why not do random rolls on drastically altering mods or attachments to the guns? Make them to the point where a gun becomes something new with a different set up rather than just lousy or even bad...suffice to say I think that there are better solutions to these problems rather than randomly rolling the weapons and gambling your time away. I DON'T MIND GRINDING...as long as I still hold MOST of the control over my playstyle and or character build. Please, a large part of me wants to be convinced otherwise against my better judgement... Eten Grimm of course everyone wants the “god roll” weapon. But what people fail to realize is that even a “subpar” roll can still be good. It depends on play style and perks. Everyone always wants the “damage and speed” perks (Kill clip/Rampage/Outlaw) simply because they’re seen as the best. (They are of course but regardless.) There are perks and weapons that with certain rolls make them super unique playstyle wise. For example, in grave robber is a vastly under rated perk for PvE IMO, but everyone dislikes it because it doesn’t suit their style. You could pop off with a bubble tree sentinel running Doom Fangs and a grave robber weapon, constantly killing and meleeing, which allows for some nice unique gameplay. That’s why random rolls are important, so you can experience unique interactions.

Then I can choose how I want a gun to run almost entirely and not have to endlessly run to make it exactly the way I want...add into that situation the possibility of removing and min-maxing by giving really cool mods that do some good at a cost styles. For example say that I got one that increases my reload speed, but it cuts my magazine or my recoil by a big amount or something. Unfortunately I'm not the best at coming up with the specifics, but I hope you get the idea. I don't mind your specific perspective, I agree with you alot, but I still feel like they've taken the lazy route and that makes me lose hope in Destiny as a franchise growing immensely. If that makes sense. Let's put it this way, I never really got god rolls in D1 because I didn't feel like grinding for marginally better weapons that I had little to no control over...and I think that's more what is my problem then anything else. Gambling can be fun...as long as I can still retain some actual level of interaction than pulling the handle again. Mind you I don't think the strike or activity is the control, rather just the cost to start gambling... I'm a big fan of the idea if dropping the random rolls only thing. Random rolls would be fine if we could then customize their perks or such afterward, which could also be made into a GOOD grind. But when you're chasing a specific roll on purely randomized roll drops on a specific chance drop, i.e. god roll Eyasluna from D1, you are then looking at a 0.000006% drop rate (estimated). Then add in that masterworks aren't re-rollable and you may have to start over if you want it to be perfect. I think this building and customizing your gun idea sounds infinitely better than pure random roll laziness.

Infusion is absolutely terrible, and didn't need to change like this. I was fine with being able to bring my favorite gear up with me. This isn't WoW, we're not completely remaking our builds every five minutes, and no one wants to. Secondly, I think everything is just a little too... cluttered at the moment. I'll be honest, I haven't played in a couple days because I completed the campaign, made it to the Dreaming City, and then I stepped into a mess of bullshit that I didn't understand and an environment with so much to do and so much hidden shit scattered around that I just decided to call it a day and see what other people make of it first. It's intimidating, maybe a little too much.

I agree on your point about Gambit although I think it’s intended to give the losing team a fighting chance. One change I though of to counteract it a bit was to make killing an envoy send a blocker to the other side. It isn’t a massive change but it would slow down the losing side a bit and would reward killing envoys a bit more.

You could rate this expansion 100/100 and I would never buy this. Bungie has consistently screwed over the community and has even been shady about some of the mechanics they incorporate into the game. Bungie has become greed fueled with having micro transactions in the game while also charging full price for the expansion. They could have made simple changes over the course of D2s launch, but Bungie delayed a lot of things to incentivize people into purchasing Forsaken. I will never support a company like this.

You need to make a profit and be able to keep loyal customers coming back. So let me ask you this, what has Bungie done to keep you as a loyal customer? From my perspective they have disrespected us as a customer by selling an uncompleted game, but there are so many issues beyond this. There was the XP controversy, locking content from people that didn't purchase the DLC, end game focused around eververse, but the list goes on. Don't get me wrong, the concept of Destiny, shooting mechanics and graphics/sounds are great. The problem lies with the companies core philosophies and one of the main ones is they are greed fueled. It's one thing to develop a good game and make money off it from just being good like God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn. I understand that destiny needs money to keep servers running and such, but to have Eververse, Prismatic Matrix, charge full price for expansions and DLC's is going overboard. They even lock stuff behind eververse that shouldn't even be there, remember the Iron Banner package that was 10 dollars. I wish Bungie would actually have like a 5 dollar a month subscription service instead of micro transactions. This would mean Bungie would have to produce a good product to keep players engaged with the game. If the game was garbage like how it was for nearly the entire part of year 1, imagine how much money would be lost. I'm sure seeing that money disappear would definitely force them to improve the game. Instead they make emotes and gear only available through eververse while degrading the game. I want to see the sales numbers for Forsaken, I'm hoping people wised up and have moved on from Destiny 2. Bungie has forever lost me as a customer.

Well we did speak once before on Venus in D1 Year 1. I think they removed the voice line but your character would chuckle and say "little light" after you finished talking to the exo stranger

My only rebuttal to that Gambit critique is regarding the Primeval buff stacks that you earn after you summon the Primeval. It becomes very easy to melt the boss in seconds and sets your damage compared the opposing team much higher.

I'm gonna attribute the lore to the story as well, and I've also read some leaked lore entries for the raid that are due to come out in the next 3 weeks with the different loops in the city. The writing in Forsaken is by far the best writing that I've seen from bungie in the past 10 years that I've been playing their games. The characters really come alive and the plot developments and implications are truly insane this time around. Take the Books of Sorrow and then multiply that by 15, then you have the lore in Forsaken.
