It's probably worth mentioning for the Senuna that it's made by a company who use liquid ammunition for their guns - it's somewhere between a water pistol and an extremely misused 3D printer. Hence the "Fluid Dynamics" buff popping up in the corner, which is their manufacturer trait.

One cool thing bungie has with hand cannons (works with other weapons too) is if you’re using a controller if you squeeze the trigger slowly the hammer comes back and cylinder rotates.
@GremlinSciences Жыл бұрын
It actually works in a lot of games from other developers as well, just about every game developed with consoles as the intended platform will incorporate similar details. CoD CW was actually really cool in that regard because if you were using a PS5 controller then not only could you watch as your character slowly pulled the trigger but you could actually feel the weight of the trigger, I'm not sure if the feature made it to PC but it worked on XB1 if you managed to pair a PS5 controller to your console and fix Sony's wonky layout.

When Johnathan mentions that the cylinder on the trust hand cannon doesn’t actually turn, it is a graphical limitation because of the sheer rate of fire you get from this arguably fantastic hand cannon. I don’t know what platform the footage was captured on but if you use a gamepad and ease the trigger down you can watch as the cylinder fully rotates into position and the hammer comes all the way back to provide the right amount of thwackage to fire the gun. Now it doesn’t provide any increase to accuracy or stability which would be fantastic for bungie to work on, but it is a neat little nod to the proper function of a revolver style weapon

I always loved how Destiny's weapons all signify that they are different in the sense that they come from different foundries or places. The Round Robin HC, Quicksilver AR, Basso shotgun and Deterministic MG all come from Neomuna, a settlement on Neptune that came from the moon called the Ishtar Collective. The HC and shotgun as shown are identical to those found on the moon in-game, albiet with the Cyberpunk-ish feel and less of the "artefacts used to ward off ghosts" from the Moon weapons. The Quicksilver and Deterministic were created for the Cloudstriders, who are biomechanical inhabitants of Neomuna. In almost the complete antithesis of this, are the Drifter's weapons, which have existed since the collapse of Earth in Destiny's lore. They are called "Dark Age" weapons and they all resemble real-world weaponry, like the old Breakneck gambit rifle looking like a mixture of an AK and a Ruger Mini 14, the Trust resembling a Colt SA revolver/Colt Navy or the Gambit shotgun, that resembles a modern day pump action shotgun, with gunmetal grey and wooden stocks.

Fun fact about any of the weapons labeled "Omolon" on them, they apparently function off of a "liquid ammo" kinda thing. "Exotic Polymers" as the first gun to introduce this described it all the way back in the original Destiny. If I remember correctly, Suros was all about "Form AND Function", so they all look more smooth, rounded even. Hakke is the one foundry most likely to look like real weapons, since they're just about all function. And then they got a whole bunch of random other small foundries that are either given their own marks or you just gotta know what to look for, like Crux Lomarr.

In the game, Omlon is a weapons company that specialized in fluid ammunition. Those little tanks on the front of the 3-round burst style handgun are actually the magazine. Some of the larger Omlon weapons have visible tanks in their designs. I actually read an article that raises a very interesting point about how revolvers might in fact be the best gun for peacekeeping in space. Particulary a silenced revolver with a gas sealing system like nagants. No automatic ejection and being able to be operated with one hand are of major importance as the last thing you want in space is spent casings flying around the cabin, while you also need a free hand to brace yourself in a lack of gravity. Add in on top of that that a space gun would need a very high degree of heat tolerance and such, and the very simple mechanism of a revolver makes it a very attractive choice. Just make sure to pack subsonic rounds if you plan to shoot inside.

I feel like it'd almost be too little for him to go on, yet I'd love to see Jonathan's take on some of the stranger guns from Enter the Gungeon!

Ah yes my favorite, the shotgun shell that shoots shotguns XD

13:10 I just realized this gun model was based on the H&K XM8 gun. Love the sci-fi design of the real world counter part

When Jonathon mentions (11:49) the Trust Hand Cannon's cylinder not actually revolving - this was I'm assuming capture on PC? If you lightly hold in an analogue trigger you'll see the cylinder slowly turn and the hammer pull back.

The one you thought looked like an f2000 i got more xm8 vibes

The cylinder of the trust hand canon does revolve but it can be hard to see, I know this because I actively play destiny 2 and run that weapon in my load out often

I like how this series is revealing that since a lot of the people using the guns in the game are effectively immortal 90% of the time, gunsmiths have a lot more fun with the aesthetics and vibe of a weapon than pure functionality

The Coronach-22 bares more than a passing resemblance to the H&K XM8. I'm surprised Jonathan didn't pick up on that!

If you decide to do more weapon reviews for destiny I would recommend for the exotic weapon specifically to look at the perks that it has as it could give you more context on what the weapon actually does

For Trust (and all hand cannons) on console you can lightly press the trigger and see the hammer cocking back and the cylinder rotating, it's just not shown on MnK because it's much faster

Quick rundown for you: Omolon is a company that specializes in Liquid Ammo (basically a glorified pressure washer) Suros specializes in ease-of-use, hence why all their guns look so simple. HAKKÉ is all about stopping power, and that’s why they are the high damage weapons. VEIST is about speed and precision, hence why they are usually high RPM weapons

Surprised Jonathan didnt mention how when you reload the quicksilver, you can see the barrel of the gun form. I believe the quicksliver uses nano tech, and basically the nano machines form up and act like a fluid in the frame of the gun, and form the bullets, micro missiles, and grenades as you pull the trigger. Pretty crazy.

12:50 I'm surprised that the XM8 wasn't mentioned. That's what I immediately thought of at least.

for nameless midnight, the release catch is right in front of the mag, and it seems like the user smacks it as they slide their hand down to grab another mag.

about hand cannons, the hammer does actually move, you just need an actual trigger pull input, like on a controller. mouse clicks skip the double action feature and make them appear semi auto

The Coronach reminds me of the Heckler & Koch XM8 proto type with a dash of the H&K XM25.

Jon: You've talked about the future of aiming devices moving to a more holographic reticle or integrated with HUD systems. But do you think the future also loses "charging handles" as we see them now? Evolving into some system where not only is ammunition caseless but magazines are so waste free as to be not worth recovering and "self" loading or self charging?

There's a bunch of wood and steel AK bullpup looking guns in Destiny, hope to see those more like the one in this video

I wish I could reach out to Mr. Ferguson directly to ask him some honest questions pertaining to his viewpoint on the weapons he's studied/learned, because I would love to hear more of his thoughts on how some of these weapons from games he's reviewed have changed his perspective a little. Rather, I'd love to learn more from his direct perspective other than through these videos. It's both entertaining and educational in a way!

If I remember correctly, a lot of the hand cannon type weapons dont load bullets but instead load a battery or container of some kind full of glimmer. Glimmer is described in game as programmable matter used for fuel and bullets and currency and other things, so the non-spinning cyllinder likely isnt an issue from an in universe standpoint. Granted my destiny info is extremely dated back from the first game, not sure if things have changed since or if my memory is wrong.

The cylinder actually does move, and so does the hammer. However that can only be seen if you’re using a controller.
