When lunch was ready, the door opened, but there were shouts from the basement (presumably from Ai and Nene), and for a while not everyone appeared in the large room.
After a while, the calm family came up from the basement, but Nene was walking with a limp from a sore leg, and Ai had barely eaten anything.
Annie, seeing Ai in low spirits, snuggled up to him and watched him anxiously.
Ai was also glad to see Annie snuggled up to her.
The next day, we were relieved to see Ai eating breakfast in good spirits and not limping around with Nene.

It’s possible AI may not have the capacity to love like Annie does. Annie must have acquired her intelligence and compassion from Shabani

Ai didn't really treat her bad. She just didn't stick up for her like she should have. But ai doesn't know that annie is her baby. They put ai under and did a c section, then ai woke up a couple days later and there was a baby there. She had no idea that it was hers. It happens in zoo's a lot. She wasn't awake and giving birth to her, so she doesn't know.

​@@jujubegoldYes Annie was loved by Shabani and Kiyo when she rejoined the family as a toddler. Look up old Shabani family videos it is sweet to see Shabani go to see Annie when the keepers were caring for her. He would look in and put his finger in to touch her. I read he was the only one. NeNe hated Annie from the beginning, Ai was indifferent, Kiyo was her playmate, and Shabani was mom, dad, and grandma. I love them all for different reasons, but like humans they can sometimes be a little jerky

NeNe has very bad arthritis and is given medication for it. I do not remember the type of meds but ahe does get them. I have severe aethritis it gets to the point only joint replacement ( which I go for next week) will help. Though not practical in this situation for NeNe. They all seem off I wonder what is going on there

Annie is such a caring gorilla girl. I am glad that Nene was walking better the next day. Maybe warmer weather to come will ease her old bones.

Wondering if Nene was attached for being mean to Annie 🤔 Shabani was breathing hard when he came up from basement. He usually does this after he’s gotten physical . So seems it was Nene who is displaying being hurt.

Nene has been limping off and on for a while, because of her age. Ai had a wound on her back, I would say that is who shabani was going after.

The zoo has not contacted us. Based on past cases, if you are pregnant, you will not be notified until the child is born.

Doubt it Ai hasn’t been in estrus since Annie an neither she nor Shabani has had contact. There are times she an her Mom have fights especially regarding junior. If Ai tries to go to basement in front of Junior Nene goes postal it’s a hierarchy thing otherwise they have a good relationship but Nene is a force still even in her old age lol

Yes. Nene is Ai's mother. Ai is Annie's mother.
