They aren't playing. They are prepping themselves for the fight for dominance over the family/troop. The animal kingdom is truly amazing. The father/son relationship won't even matter in the fight.

Shabani pulling up the thick vegetation by the roots shows this is why adding additional trees and shrubbery to the gorilla yard would be futile: the males will just destroy it anyway. Shabani (and other Alpha males) like to have a clear line of sight to keep track of where each gorilla is, and what they’re doing. Additional plantings would simply impede Shabani’s ability to monitor the group. Great video!!!

Nene can take her part. I wonder why she I so docile when her son takes food from her. I seen him take it right out of her mouth as he was casually walking by. I did not like him too much that day.

Kiyomasa can be such a bully. I detested the rough way he pulled his mother out of the doorway, so he could enter first. I have noticed that Kiyo is usually the first in. I think he feels entitled. Shabani, on the other hand, likes to make sure the others are safely in before he enters; excepting poor Nene, of course, who is last as she is so slow. She has guts, though, and let Shabani know her displeasure when he rushed by and tagged her. Shabani had an epic struggle uprooting part of the bush, but I laughed when Kiyomasa tried it. Ai thought Shabani’s efforts were quite entertaining. There is never a dull moment with this fascinating gorilla family!❤🦍

I had to laugh out loud when Shabani pulled out the roots then sat down to take a break. I also yelled out loud when Kyiamasa pulled his mom to the ground. He definitely needed a scolding but Nene adores him & he can do no harm. ❤❤🦍🦍🦍

Annie is such a weirdo like her daddy but she is also very sweet. She's a tomboy and acts so much like him. She is the only female gorilla I've ever seen drum. I love her and this dysfunctional gorilla family LOL

Poor Nene they always pick on her and it annoys me when kiyo does it because she will defend him no matter what. She is senior and one day she will be gone and I bet her son will pine for her. and Shabani.
