Yunai THANK YOUUU🥰 My parents were on the wealthier side of money and growing up people wouldn’t talk to me because they thought I would be a bitch or a snob. And then others would use me for money just because “since I have it why wouldn’t I buy them things” I also try to not let most people know I was raised rich for these reasons and honestly almost never bring people to my house because I feel like I’m rubbing it in their face.

John & Jane Smith That’s just factually untrue. It’s big business owners that create the jobs that provide you a salary. It’s poor people that use all their money for themselves and nobody else other than family and maybe friends(you get the point). You think you’re a hero doing something for society because you show up to collect a paycheck when someone else invested hard work money and a lot of time into creating the job and writing that paycheck. What a joke.

@@prumchhangsreng979 When did I ever say that her being rich was the reason I would've "hated" her? I think you need to stop putting words in other people's mouths. Maybe "hate" is too strong of a word, but everyone has their assumptions about the top 1% of the population. 75% of the time, people around this age really have no understanding of where their money comes from. They spend it without a care in the world and expect everyone to have the same (or maybe even lack thereof) problems. I've met rich kids, and for the most part, they're all the same. They want to show off what they're parents earn, they really have no understanding or consideration for others who don't have that same privilege, and often times, they look down on those who can't afford the same luxuries as them. I'm sure not every single rich kid acts like the entitled brats I've had the chance to encounter. That's what I meant when I said I COULD'VE potentially disliked her. And how do you know I'm pathetic? Pretty sure we've never met. And don't you find it hypocritical that you're supposedly here calling me out for assuming someone's personality when you're doing the exact same thing?

My mother has the worst taste in decorating. She had our indoor pool hand painted to look like it was in an aquarium with hanging fish decorations (I was pushing for the traditional spa/Roman bath look). Tackiest thing ever. She also has a thing for fake plants. When my parents were redecorating the house and thinking about selling it, they took out all the fake plants and they completely filled 2 separate 3 car garages like a forest lol. When the house was featured in a newspaper, it ran with a tag line of “why can’t rich people decorate?” and had hilarious captions for different rooms. And then my dad had this thing for clocks... all 182 of them. The whole house ticked. We used to joke that the day they all chimed at the same exact time, the world would end. Also, extremely embarrassing, there was an art gallery section and part of it was filled with portraits of my immediate family members. Very embarrassing to have friends see your house and walk through an area where your face is painted all over. Sigh.

@Leah M I think it really depends on the parents. More privileged people get more education, and more education leads to knowing how to build a family and raise their kids well. But if the parents can't manage themselves well (assume wealthy people have high pressure and less free time), it can be as problematic as poor families.

Some of the best wisdom I’ve ever heard about money, “money doesn’t buy you happiness, but it does buy you freedom and freedom makes me happy.” In other words when you have the money to not live paycheck to paycheck and you can spend a little money on yourself and those you love because you can without being stressed about paying the bills it makes it easier to be happy. The most important ingredient in happiness is those around you, but not being constantly financially stressed makes things much easier and generally happier.
@raskult
@raskult 4 жыл бұрын
Eh. Kind of freedom? Most people with money spend their whole lives working to get even more lol. So you’re trapped in that slave for money cycle as long as you live for like 90% of the rich people just your younger generations then lose all the money
@georgeterrill7279
@georgeterrill7279 4 жыл бұрын
Goondof it’s true that endless lust for money is a great way to not be happy in life, I’m more making the point that being able to support your wants in life and not be stressed about making ends meet is a recipe for happiness, so long as you have people to share your financial standing with.
@margaritas9769
@margaritas9769 4 жыл бұрын
i agree somewhat. I lived from paycheck to paycheck while working as a university student. Now cause of corona my job is canceled for a longer time and now i living of savings i was able to make and running out of money makes you really uncomfortable. It takes away the freedom you even had while working from paycheck to paycheck. Money can give you freedom Even if you have millions and are trapped in the cycle of getting more, you still have the freedom to do whatever the hell you want whenever you want without helplessly trying to keep a roof over your head.

Once I was sitting on a lakeside reading a novel, when I saw an old lady who was in her late 60s She was kinda hyperactive and I felt something was troubling her, so I asked her if everything was okay. The moment she heard that question she burst into tears and told me that her mother had passed away recently, and how she was emotionally attached to her. She was feeling that void and gloominess since then. As the conversation went on, I realised she was a billionaire. She had everything I had ever wished to achieve in my entire life. She was living it. And her children, 2 married daughters, were living abroad with their families, busy in their own lives. Her husband who's a director in one of the big government departments was completely involved in his professional life, and had very less time for her. She told me how people around her thought that because she could buy anything for herself, and had lavish lifestyle, everything would be good and easy for her. But this was probably the first time she had poured her heart out in front of someone, even when I was like 40 years younger to her. That day I realised, how we often misjudge and misunderstand the elite class, whom we see riding luxury cars and living in posh areas. Sometimes these are the people who require compassion and love the most. Sometimes behind the veil of social status and lavish lifestyle lives a person who feels lonely more often than others. ☮️

OofBloxTV Let me elaborate. I have been bullied almost my entire life because I come from a fairly low-income family. My dad works, and I have 7 siblings. Kids treated me cruelly. I went to a school in one of the better off neighborhoods, and they all picked on me because I was skinny. I tried to eat as little as I can, while still nourishing myself, so that my little siblings and mother could eat. My dad works with us too, but he works late. We usually save leftovers, when we can for him. I love my family. Anyway, I was pretty skinny. We could afford good clothes, I had a good sized wardrobe. I preferred a specific set of outfits. They would all bully me for wearing oversized clothes, but I wore oversized clothes because I was skinny and they picked on me so harshly because of it. They would call me stuff like “street rat” just because I didn’t have the latest ray-banz or yeezies. I grew up in a three decker, while they all lived in their huge duplexes. It was ridiculous. I hated everyone. Don’t say that most aren’t. There are the humble, helpful people. But then there are the terrible, cruel people. Now shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down, shitbag.

Two answers that hit me a little bit: -First one being the one about being the opposite gender - *"Walking at night without being afraid",* it still hurts me so much to know that it is a problem for women, It really does. I hope something changes at some point so that everyone can feel comfortable. :( -Second one saying *"Honestly, being friends with me doesn't have as many perks as people think".* Maybe I'm not critical enough about people I meet, but people just being themselves is all I care about, even for those I know have done some bad things, I don't let that affect how I personally treat them unless they actually give ME a reason to dislike or judge them. It's the same for any case, I really don't understand people trying to get in with someone because of their financial position. I just love my friends cause they are great people and they make me happy, in fact sometimes they HAVE offered me things, even small things and I feel the need to turn it down (They often need to convince me) If a friend wants to give you something that's their full-hearted decision because they appreciate you. That's not something you should gun for. Free stuff is great, but don't be a fake materialistic twat. Never do that to anyone please.

I have a friend whose parents are also quite rich, she is a lovely down to earth girl, never expected her to pay for something, just had fun @parties and hanging out with her, she never showed off her wealth, the opposite was the case, she often bought the most cheap, most environmental friendly stuff etc. which is why i had huge respect for her. The thing that i still find somehow unfair is, if you grow up rich, you basically never grow up with the financial worries you have as a normal/lower class person. Thus i can imagine rich people often see peoples worries different. If i'd be rich i'd kinda feel quite burdened and somehow guilty, because i just have more, (if its billions) more than i could ever spend in my entire live. And knowing this money is missing in other peoples wallets, is kinda awful. On the other hand you'd also know that there are many awful rich people out there who really don't deserve the money, but are leeching off the poor class, thus even giving poor people the money, often results in the money just going to the "evil" part of the rich people.
@Firguy
@Firguy 4 жыл бұрын
I spit on people like her, tbh. If you have the wealth to buy a mansion with state-of-the-art technology but insist on living in the projects then you are making shelter for less fortunate people more scarce. The makers of luxury goods also need to turn a profit as well so, by all means, live within your means, not above _or_ below it. Meanwhile, I wouldn't feel guilty about generating mountains of money every month because, as a rich person in a poor person's body who's had to abide with other "people" of my kind all my life, I can tell you that poor people are greedy, self-pitying, stupid animals who built their own cages. They have the audacity to claim that money's not important to them and yet, when they hear somebody's got lucky and won a bit of it, their tune changes and they're trying to cozy up to him like a slimy amoeba slinking its way through a crack in the door of a gold-plated Humvee. They never bother to learn how to invest, they hardly ever work up the courage to start their own businesses, and when they do, they're in way over their head because they never researched how to run one effectively. And if, through some stroke of luck, they get a windfall, they waste it all, not because rich people are sucking it away from them but because they're too irresponsible to properly manage large sums of money. When I become rich: I will live in the Pinnacle Penthouse in the Woolworth Building, wear Neiman Marcus clothing everyday and drive around in Rolls-Royces and I will personally rub my success in the faces of all the penny-ante creeps who've done me wrong just so I can get them to seethe in impotent rage and think to themselves "It's not fair! He doesn't deserve what he's got!" over and over again when they're lying in bed at night until the sheer bitterness gives them a brain aneurysm. And then, I will use my money to bulldoze their houses and farms (the crops they grow are poisonous to your health, anyway, btw) and replace them with high-tech cities that will make Seoul look like Mumbai.

Feel like the income inequality question plays into that, so was disappointed she didnt think it fit for her to give an opinion. Unlike other political issues like maybe what do you think about the HK protests - which one can remain fairly neutral about if one doesnt know enough - income inequality and ones opinion of it pretty much feeds into ones perception of whether there should be more redistribution, whether there should be a moral responsibility to take care of the community collectively vs respecting people's hard work and profits, whether success is a factor of luck and background or sole human achievement...

Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they'll become an ignorant spoiled brat. It all comes down to the parents on how they raised their children. If they showered them with everything they ever wanted or if they disciplined them.

My father taught me to never shit on anybody, no matter if they are super rich or super poor or just middle class. I am not poor nor am I middle class (inbetween?), but his words are always a reminder to not show jealousy nor disdain toward others. In my case, having negative views and expressing such views against rich people. You never know how much people have struggled or how much people have worked hard in order to live a more comfortable life. It is such a good thing this girl is not snobby nor acts like she is superior. It's nice to know a family like hers built their way up all the while remaining humble. Yes, I do not know who they are nor do I know them personally, but I still am relieved that her parents raised her right. Her responses were respectful and honest. I hope she is living a much happier life (considering she is engaged).

I couldn't even imagine being in such a scenario. The amount of liberty and freedom and carelessness such an upbringing provides, not including the free jobs via nepotism. Any kind of passion or hobby, boom. Funded. Dropping thousands of dollars for something that would be years of work for someone. Also, you could hire your own suite of loyal body guards.

Honestly, the billionaires daughter sounds like a great girl. He parents raised her right. When my older son told my wife and me that he was in a serious relationship with a girl from a wealthy family, I was a little worried that she might be entitled and expect our son to buy her things he can't afford. When he brought her home to meet us we found out she is the sweetest person and not at all entitled. She is pretty, and treats everyone well. Her parents must be very proud of her.

Wait. Did anyone noticed that in today’s society we think rich kids get money only from their fathers? Nobody says rich mum. That’s strange because usually is the mother to give more money (in my case). By the way I am happy she has shown to everybody who is watching that rich people aren’t brat. I am not rich and I always went to public school. But my father works for many rich people and it’s like he became a coworker, since childhood I always had friendships with their daughters(we are a whole group) and they are my best friends ever. I met nice people at school but I hanged out with only 2 of them. I still in contact with only one of them nowadays. My rich friends aren’t spoiled at all and act politely (maybe because we are Africans and we show a lot of respect towards superiors-They are the daughters of an African ambassade in Italy and italians don’t really respect much anyone) we have lot in common and we are pretty relatable. I doubt their parents give them money to pay other people things because we are all still minors. So they are the only friends I have except my actual classmates (it will probably end because it always did).
