I don't really see the heartless part there's actually a lot of heart put in it if you saw the finale of DOD in this song it showd how much Chrysalis was not only doing what she did in the finale to get revenge on Discord but she was trying to protect her son from falling in love (or what she believed was love but was actually heartbreak)

This is AFTER they have their heart taken away. Before, yes they could do that but now they have no hearts and they can't feed off of each other. NOW is why they feed off of others for love - they didn't do it because they WANTED to, they did it because they NEEDED to, for them to survive. So right now it's not possible for them to feed on each other after their heart and love has been taken away.

The heart doesn't determine how you feel about someone or something. it only pumps essential materials to each body part in order for one to survive. Hearts are a necessity. So if changelings didn't have hearts. one they wouldn't be able to live, unless their body parts can physically manifest anything they need themselves, and two.
