This entire video is an example of why we need to work hard for positive change and RESPECT for privacy and personal security. Women should not have to feel like they're putting their life on the line every time they put their face on a video or photo or just simply walking out their front door. Its not an if its a WHEN and what will they do ... To anyone who comes to the comments wondering if they’ve overstepped a line: if you give someone a gift, remember that they did not ask you to, and they owe you nothing in return. If you think they do owe you for something they didn’t request, you are trying to have coercive relationships where you purchase someone’s attention with gifts. That isn’t a relationship, it’s a transaction. If you are a fan or admire someone, please have the respect to remember that they should be treated as humans and not as products.

Parasocial situations are scary to most people, but just infuriating to me. I am an avid believer in total autonomy and self preservation...so when someone feels as though they are entitled to someone else's body, mind and life it pushes my buttons. No one owes you attention, words, or interaction. ESPECIALLY of you don't even know them. We need to remember that internet personalities, celebrities, etc. are people too. I am so sorry that you're going through this, but I'm glad you're talking about it because we need to stop treating situations like this as taboo. It happens and we NEED to have this conversation, and stop punishing those who experience it, rather than the aggressor. Protect yourself at ANY cost(get a strap)...because at the end of the day, stalking situations are not taken very seriously, and it's best not to rely too heavily on other people to help you if you need it.

That was the hardest part for me to grasp when I was 19. I really thought I could reason with mine and he would respect my boundaries. I learned that he was not living in reality, and he did not give a shit if he was making me uncomfortable, or eventually terrified. The advice at that time was to just keep telling them how they are making you feel, and trying to get them to accept you aren’t interested ‘without being mean.’ What I wish I’d done is just never said a word to him the moment he found my MySpace (that’s how old I am, lol) and kept blowing me up. I knew it was weird but I never really thought I could have a stalker without it being an ex or without me being famous or something. I have a friend who has a guy stalking her at her work, now, and I have been trying to help her through it.

People who stalk are 95+% men, so this is a toxic male problem, who pretty much always know what they're doing and it's intentional. They 100% know their behavior is frightening. The blame is with these toxic predatory men, and the other toxic men who do nothing about it and force women to live in fear.

To all stalkers out there: seek help immediately. See a psychologist before it’s too late. Otherwise, the world will turn against you and you will be completely on your own. @baileymoran8585 Жыл бұрын
The victims of stalking should probably be the focus of concern, and not the stalkers themselves. They know they are causing suffering, and that’s often their objective. I had one for 6 years. It was a nightmare. There is no way my stalker thought I was enjoying it, or that I could love someone who did the things he did. If you are stalking someone it already is ‘too late’ in a lot of ways. It’s like any form of abuse. There’s certain lines where if you cross them, you can’t really become a decent person on the eyes of many people. At some point people will find out, even 10 years later, and distance themselves because they will never feel safe around you again. Plus, I am not sure that treatment is likely to be successful because most have some very dark psychology that is near-impossible to treat, due to therapists and psychologists not being comfortable taking that risk. People are far too compassionate on stalkers. My advice for them would be to move far away from their victim and stay away from people who could likely become future victims. They are often like serial killers, due to having a type.

Please be careful, Annie. Someone trying to dig out your deadbolt is not someone who just wants attention. It could be anything from trying to steal something someone saw in one of your videos to an unhinged person trying to get at "that devil worshiper." Cameras and dogs are a great idea. Though I know you tend toward the lighter side of your craft, this may be a time for some baneful magic too, if you haven't already taken those steps. Take care of yourself, and I hope that you find much peace and joy in the new year.
@BeyondSustainableLiving Жыл бұрын
Agreed! Although baneful magick can backfire if she’s still focused on it and afraid afterwards. I know it sounds woowoo, but hey, we’re witches. If you don’t already, please start studying the work of Abraham Hicks. Esther Hicks channels “Abraham” and teaches how to create new situations for yourself via Law of Attraction. This universe is attraction-based so you can’t repel anything without putting even more attention on it and attracting it even more strongly. Best to envision what situation you want to replace the current one and try to get your emotions lined up with that. Positive emotions are key to this working. It helps practically but also emotionally and with the law of attraction when you take all the steps needed so that you feel more safe so it’s great you’re doing all the things (cameras, document and reporting events to police, obtaining and learning how to use a firearm, etc.).This reduced fear will put you in a less fearful point of attracting and allowing the new safer reality to take shape. I almost wonder if you still were attracting some bad energy from the fear you had back when you first got the cabinet and did that banishing. And wasn’t after you’d been dealing with fear of coming out? Fear attracts things that threaten our safety and it’s gotten to a dangerous point with you now. Please try to work on any shadow emotions in your subconscious that could be making you a match for attracting things that cause you fear and harm. I’m not victim blaming at all. Just trying to empower you. Also, I am also a lesbian and had recurring nightmares for over 10 years of being chased by a murderer. Those all suddenly stopped when I came out of the closet. So I suspect you’ve got some fear lodged in your psyche still. Working on that is one more thing you can do. You got this!

One step up from this, I live very remote in the mountains, I’ve trained my dogs their serious commands in a foreign language. I use Spanish & German. Also I use hand signals. “Bark” is finger & thumb together like a duck bill. It’s subtle, but I keep them barking with this, even as I engage in speaking to a stranger / delivery driver at my ranch gate. I started this years ago after a strange man arrived & in a stern voice commanded my dog to sit… and the dog did. Huge eye opener. Now I have a Belgian Malinois, all he knows are commands & sentences in foreign language and hand signals. Game changer for protection.

This happened to my friend and she was able to get out of the situation however you do need to call the police with each incident. You need to collect evidence of the incident and get a door cam to find out who it is so you can press charges and get a restraining order for life. You got this! Stalkers love making the person feel scared and vulnerable so you may want to refrain from posting like that because it could egg them on. They typically are not mentally well and live off the power high. I was stalked too and I ended up moving cities honestly but that meant being closer to home. It came to an end when I legally changed my name. I feel a lot safer living with a dog. He was pulled out of a abusive home and he is afraid of human males. I live in NYC, it was the very first thing I did when I moved here at 28 yrs old. The things I learned to keep myself are safe are nvaluable, right down to being hypervigilant of my surroundings at all times. It's empowering to learn how to keep yourself physically safe, both inside and outside of your home. I'm 68 now, and in those 40 yrs of living in NYC, I've had to use those self defense skills many times, with success. I don't live in fear. I feel prepared to handle anything. Just last week I took down a 6 ft man lunging at me on the sidewalk while I had a cup of coffee in each hand, but brought him to his knees without using my hands with a self defense move I had learned. Self defense classes prepare you for every possible scenario. Contact your local police precinct, they may have information on the best self defense classes in your area. Hey Annie! I’m sure you’ve got plenty of good people around you to offer advice for self and home protection, but just in case… in addition to the baseball bat, if you can and if you’re comfortable with it, you can also invest in a can or two of hornet/wasp spray with the long range spray nozzles and place them around your home in safe spaces (away from the fur babies but in easy grabbing reach for you). You won’t have to get as close to an intruder (risk someone bigger, faster, stronger getting that bat away from you) and it will stop someone as effectively as pepper spray, if not more so. Use it the same way. Aim for the face. It’s a common item that no one is going to ask you why you have it in your home and it will give you a chance to get away and get help. From one solitary gal to another, this is something my father advised me. Keep you safe! Sending love. 💕

That is terrifying! I have not lived alone my whole life…I’ve lived with parents, roommates and then my partner and a house filled with kids and pets. If authorities know who it is, I hope you are able to press charges or able to find peace in whatever way feels right to you! I’m so very sorry this is happening to you. I want to express my gratitude for all you’ve brought into my life with your beautiful videos. I used to see a lot of ‘well-known’ people and I was too bashful to approach them. Now if I see someone and make eye contact I put fingers in the ❤ shape over my ❤ just to let them know I love and appreciate them, but I still don’t approach them.

I am SO sorry you’re having to deal with this. I value my privacy so much, and have always felt bad for celebrities going through this sort of thing. Just because someone gets paid from the audience watching their shows, movies, KZbin channels, whatever medium, doesn’t mean they aren’t entitled to full privacy. My parents are from here, but I was born and grew up in another country they worked in - where all the homes had high walls around the house and garden. I miss that and over the last 25 years have been creating green barriers with evergreen trees and hedges to keep people from looking into our space, whether it is from neighbors (who are kind, but we want our privacy) or from 2 story buildings nearby. I love open windows too, and we have two big dogs, but sometimes I wish I was in those homes that had the walls. I appreciate all the work you put into your videos. I’m new at this, even though I’m in my 60’s (Baby Witch?) and have absolutely learned so much from you. Sending you protective vibes and happy vibes to you!🌳🌺

I am so sorry this has happened to you! It definitely is a very important conversation. I was stalked by a former co-worker during year two of the pandemic. It flipped my life upside down. I went nowhere by myself for two years. This individual stopped when finally confronted from a distance. He apparently didnt realize I knew I was being stalked by him. A threat to make a police report thankfully stopped his behavior.

it stands out to me that you've had a stalker in the last couple of months, and Olivia Graves from the Witch of Wonderlust just had ALL of her gear and external drive with all of her content footage stolen about a month ago. I recall that the two of you have been open about being friends in the past and that you've collabed together.... she didn't go into detail about how her things were stolen, but given that both things occurred around the same time (it sounds like), images of you would likely have been on her drive somewhere, I wonder if it's related somehow? I'm not sure. I hope you both stay safe. It could be a terrible coincidence- there are some scary people out there. and I HATE how women have to be discouraged from following any "routine" outside of the home, like walking or running the same path at the same time daily, because someone could be watching. It's awful.

I truly hope and pray that you are safe. I have had two stalkers, both perpetrators were my fathers mistresses. I felt incredibly violated because my dad was supposed to love and honor his vows to my mother and he was supposed to protect his children. And he failed in every way shape and form. Now years later, my parents don’t have my address. They don’t know my work schedule or my days off. I have to protect my peace. My best advice is to have cameras, keep the backgrounds generic, documents everything, and stay aware of your surroundings

Is there a reason why you haven't contacted the police? If someone messes with your door, never go in and check the apartment yourself, call the police to be sure no one is inside. Please be careful Annabel.
@loganstroganoff1284 Жыл бұрын
Not being rude but i think some of this is paranoia. She hasnt contacted police, didn't say anything about checking her own camera after the deadbolt incident, didnt say the building management checked their cameras and called police. virtually every residential building has cameras now, especially if they're restricted access, and building managers take attempted burglaries and other crimes very seriously. and let's be real..her audience isnt that big. The idea that a lot of random ppl are recognizing her on the street is kind of slim. City life is not for everyone and there are a lot of dangers you must be aware of however this story just doesnt add up. Love annabels content but i get the impression sometimes she could benefit from some counseling. There seems to be a lot of pent up anxiety and perhaps other issues. I think she would fare much better staying at her cabin or someplace rural outside of cities
@angelikabatwoman Жыл бұрын
@@loganstroganoff1284I disagree. 100.000 people watching is a big audience. And someone trying to break in is not paranoia, it's a tangible threat.
@loganstroganoff1284 Жыл бұрын
@@angelikabatwoman100000 subs is nothing, especially in a large city where there are likely hundreds if not thousands of youtubers, tiktokers,etc. Hell a million subs is fairly common these days. And if someone actually tried to break in then why hasnt she contacted the police? If theres actual damage to your deadbolt and you have a camera, in addition to the building almost certainly having cameras, why not call police and share the footage? That would be the first thing anyone truly in danger and afraid would do.

Thank you for sharing this! I’m experiencing a similar situation but I’m not on KZbin. A past neighbor once came into my house while I was asleep and smudged a dark oily substance on my eye glass lenses that were on my dining room table. I had my locks changed but I am still suffering from the trauma they caused me. And, I believe they talked the locksmith into giving them a key because things continued to happen even after my locks were changed. They finally moved and now most of those things aren’t happening anymore. They cost me a ton of money and really retaliated against me when I changed my locks. These types of people are mentally unstable. In my case, I think someone was paying them to do it. I need to take more steps to protect myself. They harmed me greatly. I am glad you are safe and stay vigilant. My mother always talks me out of getting a dog but I think a dog is in my future. Take care and thanks for sharing.

So how I got out of that one I will never know. So maybe be smarter than me and get multiple ways to protect yourself, and maybe don't try to directly confront if possible. LADIES- I have lived in cities and larger towns my entire life. This can happen to anyone. I’ve learned to ALWAYS LOCK DOORS /windoes , be aware of your surroundings every time I walk my dog(s) and never let anyone know I live alone by keeping a large pair of men’s shoes at the front door. People are not always right in the head and some men think they have a right to us. Service people don’t need to know a man doesn’t live with you also. My condo was having all the windows replaced and the Forman of the crew upon requesting to see my bedroom windows asked me on a date while standing in my bedroom, when I turn the guy down by saying I had a boyfriend (which was a lie , what kind of man ask the woman out, standing in her bedroom, while on the job ) he told “me that’s weird because he hadn’t seen any man coming or going from my place in the two weeks” . People are creepy trust nobody!

I'm so sorry... I have heard so many similar stories! I was told a loooong time ago to NEVER show anything outside my window for the same exact reason. I have a friend who live streams, and someone was able to pinpoint exactly the city she lived in because they COULD HEAR AIRPLANE AND TRAIN SOUNDS OUTSIDE and they used that to track her location! It's very very scary and risky to even make videos on the internet... I'm so sorry you had to deal with this. No one should ever have to deal with this!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience, it made something that I went through feel more valid. To keep it short in 2018 I was walking my roommate’s dog and it was Christmas break so most people in my apartment complex were gone for the holidays. Both my roommates were working, so it was just me and a medium sized dog. As I was unlocking my front door, a van from across the street peeled out and pulled into our parking lot. A guy came out and started catcalling and hitting on me and asking me invasive questions, it was uncomfortable. He ended the conversation by saying he couldn’t leave without petting my dog and he finally dropped it when I told him she hated men (she had been growling the whole time and was a good protector). I knew where this guy lived, it was right next door, I had walked by the apartment complex while walking the dog. Since there wasn’t actually a law broken I couldn’t go to the cops cause they would just view it as a “girl who cried wolf” situation. And talking to someone isn’t illegal (although it is a grey area since he was sexualizing me verbally). He had also only given me a nickname he went by. All I could do was go back by his apartment complex later with my boyfriend and take pictures of the guys license plate and van in case something happened to me later. Thankfully we moved out a few months later. It affected me more than I thought cause this man knew exactly where I lived and I don’t know what would have happened if my roommate’s dog wasn’t with me. I am glad you are taking precautions and if you have physical evidence to start a case or restraining order against someone that is great, but I know how often stalkers aren’t taken seriously. I think you are doing great with countermeasures and changing your schedule. The fear and anxiety should fade in time. For me it took a few years to get over and I had to take steps to not become agoraphobic. Thank you again for sharing because like you said this shouldn’t be normal, and victims of stalking shouldn’t be blamed for someone else’s behavior.

I very much am of the mindset of if you are prepared you shall not fear. Having been exposed to different martial arts throughout my life, the biggest thing you can do is have the best force multiplier you are comfortable with, and train with it. If the thing you're most comfortable with is bear spray, then take time to practice with that. If it's the bat, then take time to train with it. (Some sword techniques work well for a bat) Even though your dogs' natural instincts will do a lot, taking to time to train with them self defense techniques will go miles to helping you feel more comfortable again in your own home. If you're comfortable learn a hand to hand martial art of your choice, if nothing else it can teach the right mindset to have in those sort of situations. And if you are willing, firearms are the best force multiplier you can get. If you take the time and get the training, and handle them with purpose and respect, in my opinion there is nothing that will make you feel safer and in control of whatever bad situation comes your way. However I do respect that not everyone is comfortable with the idea, so search your own heart, perhaps become comfortable with other things first, but keep it in mind as a tool for your possible toolbox. Regardless, it does sound like you do a have a good solid grasp on not only the potential things that can go wrong, but you also seem to have a good grasp on how to protect yourself in your situation. The more you keep preparing, the safer you will be and feel. But be confident in the preparations you have made. Keep your eyes open, keep your head on a swivel, and may your gods keep you safe.

So adding in all that you do in the video, I appreciate the effort you put in, and I love the calm and peaceful feelings I get just watching. I hate that some jerk has caused discomfort and unease, interrupted your peace. I loved hearing you have a baseball bat, but your sweet babies are way more of a deterrent. Im also glad it has been quiet recently, and you got to touch the earth again. Your content is so gorgeous, the opening to this one was another cinematic beauty, the mix between the close up and drone shots are so well juxtaposed.

I'm sad that this is the first video of yours that was suggested to me, but also grateful to have found this lovely space you have made on youtube. All I have to say is, I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I have been in two stalker situations in my life time and I don't think people understand just...the sense of security you lose. The comfort you built for yourself destroyed. The constant looking over your shoulder. In my case I knew them both too, so thinking I caught a glimpse of them in a crowd of people was the worst. It has taken some time, but I feel I am in a safe place now. Time really does heal all. My wish for you is that you find that sense of security and safety again in your own home. It really sucks when we open ourselves to the world and that is the favor returned to us. The most heart breaking for me was when you described your love of your window and natural light and how now you have curtains there. Windows also are a love of mine and during my situation it was one of the first things I shuttered off.
