The reason he didn’t win idol is that he didn’t want the constraints he would have had on him had he won. He would have been forced to make the music the producers wanted him to make, so he left.

I always wanted to see them, spent 8 years in the Army and every time I came home from the deployment while sitting in C-17 was listening "home". Long story short just went to a Daughtry concert in Vegas. Chris is so humble and his voice is amazing. You need to hear them live. The new album is amazing too. Super happy I went to see them.
