Lyrics
I'm staring out into the night,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
Well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
Well I'm going home.
The miles are getting longer, it seems,
The closer I get to you.
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love remains true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me another try.

My dad passed away march 7 2020. I was on a 6 month trip when it happened. I drove 18 hours back home when I heard the news. Straight back home. I drove into town and went to the gas station as I turned on this song from KZbin. I didnt hear it for years. I walked into gas station to hear it playing in the store.. I love you daddy. I miss you so much. I know your here with me.

How awesome this man will be performing this 4th of July celebration at the historical US Army installation, Schofield Barracks, on the island O'ahu, in the Aloha State of Hawai'i. No doubt, when he rolls up on this song, there will be a thunderous sound of cheering and fanfare, as this song is the theme and tribute to our beloved Service Men and Women in the Armed Forces, that home is the only place they, and we all, want to be. Peace and Aloha, everyone! :)

The most ironic thing about this song is, Daughtry was sent home like 5th place the season he was on American Idol, and then the very next season, they used this song, HIS song, when people got sent home.

Agreed, I live in a military dependent former Pineapple plantation town near an US Army instillation, and I see many of our service Men and Women go off to some conflict overseas, and hearing of some not making it back home, hurts many of us, especially those brave souls I've personally got to know. This very song gives me and the many military families hope, that they all will return back home where they all should, want to be. I salute the Armed Forces this Fourth of July, our Independence Day! God bless them all! 👍

This fine tune came about when I was separated from my wife. I thought I had the perfect person to take the place of the love of my life. But after I realized I still loved my wife more then anything in the whole world and we reunited and got remarried. This song brings joy to my heart because it brought us together once again.

I first heard this song when I came back to the States to retire from the military with over 20 years in and 14 years of those overseas. It would play at the same time every morning on my shower radio. They never said the singer's name. There couldn't have been a better song for my transition period to civilian life. It encompasses both sides. Loved my time in the military. Felt like I was leaving my buddies but at the same time I was going home to my Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers who had supported what I was doing. Then again I hadn't really been home in 2 decades. I have to tell you that I'd stand under the shower listening to this with a few tears. It still moves me. Maybe the song means something different to everybody else but I will always think of my buddies and going home.

Thank you kindly for your kindness. I had a 2 hr Consult with Surgeon yesterday and I was and still am overwhelmed by all the info and my Type of Cancer Treatment Plan. Additionally, I have recently broken my wrist, 3 fingers, arm and Shoulder and Hip. Dr asked me if I'm in good enough shape and able to start my Cancer Surgery/ Treatment immediately. Now I was given a great amount of info at this APPT and I wasn't expecting the intense treatment, length of time, daily, and I have just returned from my birth city because my mom passed away and I had to live with my Dad and take care of his every needs personally and professionally, and he made me promise him NOT TO PHONE 911 NO DRS NO HOSPITAL NO FAMILY COMPANY AND HE DEMANDED TO ME TO DIE IN HIS HOUSE WITH ME THERE. Yes he was 83 and had Cancer but nothing that effected his health until the last 3 months before he passed away just before last Christmas. I had to carry him daily basis back and forth from his bed to living room, chang diapers etc Said Dad I can't watch you die in front of me no more and he got extremely angry and said I made a promise. The 2 months after I wanted to call 911 every second of every day. Woke up and my Dad in bed and I thought he was dead. I screamed at him and shook his legs. When he opened his eyes I saw death and I knew he was going to die. He said that he was going to leave this planet, be with my mom, thanked me for being such a only and great son, proud of me and everything else and he thanked me for keeping my promise. We were holding hands the whole time and I said what I had to, to Dad and I said just go Dad, I'm fine and happy. One last gasp of breath and that was it. He died looking at me. Close his eyes and covered him up over his head. Currently waiting for my Hip Surgery and Shoulder Surgery. This morning I was thinking that even though I have pain medicine I can barely walk and I can't on some days and my Shoulder Pain is barely under pain control because I refused Stronger Pain meds. I phoned my Cancer Surgeon and just got off phone talking about my Hip and Shoulder Pain and Surgery, and he asked me about this yesterday and I can't remember. He asked me if I would like to wait until I get my Shouder Surgery and then my Cancer Treatment. I replied yes. He said he has everything required for my Cancer Treatment and he said that I would be better off to wait 2 months and have it done or contact him immediately if I get a Earlier Surgery Date for my Shoulder. Surgery # 5 on this shoulder and hip replacement # 3 but no idea surgery date. I live alone in a new city and I don't know a single soul. Not in a relationship because of my hip and shoulder and now Cancer. I'm not afraid to die, I'm just not ready yet. I have taken extremely good care of my body my entire life but started writing Motocross at 4 years old and eventually I went pro plus I did indoor Motocross stunt riding in Canada and the US and I fought full contact jiu-jitsu professionally in Canada and the US 8 1/2 years but I have had upwards of 30 + surgeries on my body from the motocross racing and stunts and even though I took care of my body I have some good days and some not so good days and I'm okay with that. The going through everything I'm going through all alone is extremely overwhelming to say the least. I hope I did the right thing in Waiting 2 months with regards to my cancer treatment and I guess I'll see in time. The doctor didn't force me but asked me and I'm the one that has postponed my cancer treatment 42 months and I hope I did the right thing my head is so messed up with everything right now I guess time will tell. Thank you kindly for your kindness. May God Bless you and your family. Cheers Dave 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hi Thank you for your kindness. I have a broken wrist, 3 fingers, arm shoulder and hip and live alone. I still am waiting for my 5th Surgery on my Shoulder and 3rd Hip Replacement surgery and I recently was diagnosed with Cancer. I'm not afraid to DIE. I'm young and just not ready. There are so many things I want to do in my life and one is helping others and moving to the USA from Canada. The harsh reality has set in and I had a 2.5 hr Chat with Cancer Doctor yesterday. The best treatment available is very TIME SENSITIVE AND PHYSICALLY DEMANDING and I was informed from an Awesome Cancer Surgeon yesterday of what type of procedure I should get. I can barely stand my Shoulder and Hip Pain as it is because I have had 4 Shoulder Surgery and 2 Hip Replacement already and I can barely walk and some days not at all. Called Cancer Dr and asked him what I should do? I didn't even remember that the dr was concerned about my broken bones and surgeries and he doesn't think I would be able to Start Cancer Treatments now because of my injuries and it's a very physical demanding process daily monthly etc. and he post phoned my Treatment for 2 months and see how I'm doing Physically and I agreed with him and hope to God I made the Right Decision. Divorced and single doesn't help me either because I have no one to talk to nor assist me. So stressed out because I'm dealing with my parents will and estate as they recently passed away before Christmas. I have a full plate, and even though I can handle anything that comes my way, right now, I'm leaving everything in Gods hands and see what happens. Thank you kindly. Cheers Dave

Lyrics I'm staring out into the night Tryin' to hide the pain I'm going to the place where love And feeling good don't ever cost a thing And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain Well, I'm going home Back to the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old So I'm going home Well, I'm going home The miles are getting longer, it seems The closer I get to you I've not always been the best man or friend for you But your love remains true, and I don't know why You always seem to give me another try So I'm going home Back to the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old Be careful what you wish for 'Cause you just might get it all You just might get it all And then some you don't want Be careful what you wish for 'Cause you just might get it all You just might get it all, yeah Well, I'm going home Back to the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old I said these places and these faces are getting old So I'm going home I'm going home Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Christopher A. Back in 2009 I found out my Ex was getting married and I still loved the hell out of her. One night at work this song came on and I realized that some other was guy was going home to her. According to Chris in an interview, the song means he had wished for a successful career as a singer who tours but was finally going home to his wife at the end of the tour because he was tired of all the people and places and wanted to go the woman- Deanna- he hasn't always been the best man and friend to but while he doesn't regret this career choice and the life he has chosen, her love has always been enough for her. It's all about marriage, family and relationship ahead of fame and success. That is so sweet.

Am I the only one who cries at this song? Not because of nostalgia, but at the realisation that my parents house doesn't feel like home anymore? It used to be this safe haven back when I was a child and a teenager. The easy life disappeared when I was 17 and I moved when I was 18. Now I'm 26, bought a house with my BF and I love it. But still, I miss my home that I can't return to. It is there, but it isn't.

He was pushed aside by pompous, arrogant people that think they had a voice in what people should listen to.. but like a true strong rock standing above the ocean waves he stood strong,an they couldn't carry him away.. rock on chris, rock on, thousands of us love ur music bro..

frankly, those pompous, arrogant people can't stand the test of time. at the end of the day, it is voices like these that define a decade because no matter how much time passes, it will find a place in peoples hearts and continue singing

The same thing has happened to me with people that I work with. Pompous, arrogant people that think they can get rid of good people (including me). You wouldn't believe some of the crazy stories and the insane bullshit that I have to deal with at my job.

As a Yemeni guy, listening to this absloutly legendary song, after 4 years of war in my country, and after two years of being away from my home, wondering when can i get back, when pain is going to over, so we could go to see how the places we used to be at is looking after this fatal war!! .. With all my love to you chris..

I have no idea why, but I pulled this song up tonight and the tears have not stopped. I lost my best friend, wife, lover and mother to our children in the fall of 2019. We were best friends since high school. As she was preparing to leave this life for heaven she kept telling me it was going to be fine. Indeed, she was going home. And while I know she is no longer in pain I still miss her so much and can hardly wait to join her some day soon I hope. Indeed, Coming Home means so much to me on many different levels. I will love you Pam forever and always.

[Verse 1] I'm staring out into the night Trying to hide the pain I'm going to the place where love And feeling good don't ever cost a thing And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain [Chorus] Well, I'm going home To the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you've got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old So, I'm going home Well, I'm going home [Verse 2] The miles are getting longer, it seems The closer I get to you I've not always been the best man or friend for you But your love remains true And I don't know why You always seem to give me another try [Chorus] So, I'm going home To the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you've got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old [Bridge] Be careful what you wish for 'Cause you just might get it all You just might get it all And then some you don't want Be careful what you wish for 'Cause you just might get it all You just might get it all, yeah [Chorus] I'm going home To the place where I belong And where your love has always been enough for me I'm not running from No, I think you got me all wrong I don't regret this life I chose for me But these places and these faces are getting old I said, these places and these faces are getting old So, I'm going home Well, I'm going home
