The music they produced with Dave A in 93-94 earned 6 grammy noms and 1 win. In 25 yrs since 7 noms 1 win. only 4 of those were for the music. 1 for video 2 for packaging which is what the win was. With Dave they were edgy kick ass rock band without Dave they are REM.

History has revealed how incredibly important Dave’s drumming was to Pearl Jam. As Eddie’s voice is to Pearl Jam, so was Dave’s drumming. They were not complete until Dave, never the same without him. Not inviting him up onstage for their HoF induction seemed out of touch and a snub to fans.

What is so great about Dave is this... His performance of all Ten songs is absolutely phenomenal. He didn't take anything away from these songs, if anything he added to making the songs better. In most cases, when a new drummer or guitarist comes along, when they perform previous material, it makes you long for the original performer. Not so in this case. His work on Vs and Vitalogy was so legendary! i started playing drums in high school, around the early 90's, and listening to this guys drumming inspired me so much!! His crispness, his busyness on the cymbals and high hat, always had me floored. I don't want to get into the politics of why he was fired, everyone has their own viewpoint and i support all those involved, but no way should this man not been elected into the Hall of Fame. When Pearl Jam was on top and in the world's eye, this was drummer that was there and represented. You can say what you want about him not fitting in, but this man's work should always be remembered and celebrated. Hopefully the Hall will see what they done and give this man the respect he deserves.

Dave being forced out of the band happened at about the same time Eddie was asserting his influence over the songwriting processes in Pearl Jam. From what I've read, it didn't sit well with Jeff or Stone. I think the idea of having to put up with Eddie's shit was slightly less-offensive than the notion of Pearl Jam continuing on without them. That pretty much would have been the equivalent of calling them "Pearl Jam, featuring Eddie Vedder and the Guitar Center All-Stars."

I didn’t pay much attention to Pearl Jam until I saw them one night on SNL and thought “ I don’t remember their drummer playing this good!” Then I found out his name was Dave Abbruzzese and I became a fan of his that night. He took the band to a whole different level, and he didn’t “overplay” as some band members would claim, he simply locked into a groove and played it better than most drummers of that era. His use of cymbals from splashes to crashes along with his kick and snare technique was phenomenal! Unfortunately band egos, jealousy and cliques get in the way of sound judgment which wasn’t heeded when they let Dave go.

Pearl Jam came to Ottawa and I got to go. The show was a bit lame 'cause Eddie was sick and so instead of like the videos where he jumped around a bunch he just stood at the mic wiping his nose and trying to get through the show.( I felt for him ) I got kinda board so I walked to the side of the stage where I was able to stand on the hockey walls and hang over the glass. The stage manager said if I jumped over he'd crush me and I promised to stay put so he was cool. I had the best seat in the house to watch Dave play from that position. Between a song I yelled out his name and he looked over and waved and for the rest of the show he would look over and shoot me a smile every now and then. I had the biggest grin for the rest of the week. Amazing talent and Super nice guy.

I've been playing the skins for about 32 years 21 years professionally and I was trying to explain to someone what it feels like to just jam for 2 to 3 hours. When he said it's like runner's high it blew my mind I never thought in that context before but that's exactly what it is!
