The coolest hippest comedian ever. Dave Allen was to comedy what Clint Eastwood was in the classic spaghetti Westerns. A master story teller, fantastic observer of life. All this coupled with a great Signature tune. The overall persona is quality, something that is lacking in a lot of young artists these days. Your persona, quality of delivery, substance the lot; simply BRILLIANT.

As kids, we always sat up late and watched Dave Allen during summer holidays. After Dave Allen we then watched Tommy Cooper. When I hear Dave’s voice now, am reminded of sun burn , the beach, school boy mates and Aeroguard ( AUSTRALIAN insect repellent).

This man is a comic genius! To be honest, when I was eight or nine years old, watching this show, I didn't understand it, feeling the wind as it flew over my head. But now I can't get enough of this show. I'm laughing very hard as I write this. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for these Martin, Dave at his best. I'm old enough to remember the early days, but i always thought that his sketches were a bit hit and miss (apart from the Pope striptease), but with just a glass of Whiskey and a stool he was a genius

You'd think more people would have noticed by now. 🤭 Dave's humour was deceptively clever: from his background in playing to wild-eyed, violently religious, bigoted communities he knew that direct confrontation would only get him banned, assaulted or killed, so he'd plant seeds - a bit of papal mockery here, a touch of childhood religious doubt there - and hope that something interesting would grow. It's taken a while, but I think we're gradually making progress. Thanks, Dave. 🙂
