@@Lee-nh5bb I was looking for Rocket Records, delivering something. I knocked on nearest number to them and Dave opened the door. He was very charming and funny, and gave me a message for them along the lines of “put a bloody number on your place!!” He was exactly how you’d hope he would be. Not all funny men are funny, just good at delivering a script… Ronnie Barker springs to mind in that category…

Dave Allen is one of Ireland's finest and funniest comedians!!! I've enjoyed his wit and personality since the 70's. He has poignant humor taken from real life that we all can relate to!!! I'll bet that if we're honest, we have all at least thought some of the (colorful) language that he uses. BTW - FYI (at least in the state that I live in) flashing your headlights at another motorist (in either direction) is not just a traffic offense, it is a misdemeanor (a crime)!!! I never knew that before.

An anecdote : my dear departed father had a thing about ferry boats (between France and England) - he wanted to drive on first and drive off first. For once he got a first place and was as happy a prince. What he didn't notice was that there was deep fog arriving at Dover. Off we went in first place with all the cars following. What my dad didn't realize was that he was driving up a one-way street and of course all the cars were following. So what started as a win, ended up as a "fight" between my mum and dad, on top of which we were all dying for a fish and chips - lol

@johnking51748 жыл бұрын
+Shane Bairstow I am the same. I was born in Derry in Northern Ireland, but every one says I do not have a Derry accent at all. My brother says I have a RP accent. But yes, when I get angry, a little bit of Derry comes through my voice. Dave was born in Dublin, but he spent most of his life in England, which I am sure affected his accent, as he lived among people with English accents.
