My list of top 5 goes like this: 1-ALi, 2-Bowe, 3-Lennox, 4-Usyk, 5-Wlad .My reasoning for it, Ali as number one because he reigned supreme in one of the best heavyweight era of all time, beating the likes of Joe, Foreman, Sunny, Floyd, Shavers and was the first ever 3 time heavyweight champion, not to mention that he did all of that even though he's prime was stolen from him and he basically had it all, chin, speed, footwork, boxing IQ, heart, you name it. Bowe was an outstanding inside fighter, his chin was made of steel and even though his resume isn't the best, I think he was one of the best to ever do it. Lennox beat everyone even though Mike was out of it, and he didn't really revenge his loss to McCall because we all know what happened but he's resume is one of the best so he has to be top 3. Usyk could go higher if he beats Fury again, and he dominated two weight classes and did it against the era of giants. Wlad I think for a heavyweight he had crazy good footwork and jab and his power was something else ,add to that he is one of the longest reigning champions of all time so I believe he is in the top 5 heavyweights of all time. The list could change a bit if we're talking about resumes alone and not including talent.

Jack dempsey in his time was without doubt the most famous sportsmen of his era Dempseys purse for one fight in 1926 was $750,000. This is more than Babe Ruth earned in his entire baseball career and more than the philadelphia phillies and st louis browns teams salary at the time. Dempsey was actually in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest earning boxer of all time (including post career money making refereeing gigs) with a total of over ten million dollars in income, a record which was not broken until after Ali regained the heavyweight title from Foreman in the mid 1970s. Now, bear in mind that this $10,000,000 record was NOT adjusted for inflation. Jack was the highest paid athlete of 1925 without ever defending the title. People forget how great dempsey was Everything you'd want in a fighter Dempsey scrapes into my top 5.

Holmes was Tyson's best win. He wasn't considered old at the time of the fight. He was considered the Champion and the King of the division and the slight favorite at the time of the fight. There was of course some old lion/young lion talk but it was not considered a foregone conclusion at all. Also, the Tyson that fought Holyfield was not considered a prime Tyson. That fight had been wanted for years but didn't happen sooner because of the loss of his trainer, divorce and incarceration. It's funny how anyone else losing a trainer that they regarded as a Father figure, going through a messy divorce and being incarcerated might be considered to be under duress but Mike Tyson was supposed to be unaffected. It's not a conversation I like because I'm not old enough to have seen certain fighters that should be considered but of the fighters I have seen Usyk #1, Ali #2, Holmes #3, Lewis #4 and then the usual suspects in no particular order. Oddly enough when I think of my clear #1 and #2 and wonder who would've maybe beaten them I think of 1988 Mike Tyson. 1988 Mike Tyson was prime Mike Tyson and I have never seen a fighter that was so feared and considered so unbeatable. It was a brief prime and like Spaghetti Carbonara and certain other dishes you can't just reheat them and recreate the magic. You have to understand what they are and enjoy them at the right time. A case can be made for Tyson but a case can be made that his prime didn't last long enough to make the list and then of course others can disagree altogether.

@fantasyboxing71 he's not the greatest, tho in my opinion. As Dave said, others' top 5s will be different.. Lennox lewis would have played with ali & so would holyfield. Fury would rag doll him, and uysk would have made him look stupid, and I still would ony put 2 of those in my top 5.

Definitely not Marciano. Not even too 10 on resume’. Mike Tyson had a way better resume’. Only reason he in there because undefeated. Best wins against old timers

Tyson is very much hyped up by casuals, but aversely he is unfairly underrated by the avid fans. When Mike beat Larry Holmes he was TWENTY ONE, Holmes was 38, a year older than Usyk is now, and a year younger than Joe Joyce who a year ago was seen as a massive threat. If you watch Larry Holmes, you know his signature style was to throw out the left jab that had accuracy and timing to destroy heavyweights. During the fight with Tyson, Mike closed the distance and Larry constantly resorted to stiff arming Mike and couldn't use his main attribute. What makes this more telling is that actually, Larry Holmes lost to Oliver McCall three years prior at age 35, a prime age for a HW of that shape. McCall who went on to lose convincingly to Frank Bruno. We all know the level of Frank, and we know how it paled to Mike. Not to mention McCall losing to Tony Tucker, who Mike also beat at a young age of 21. He also lost to Spinks three years prior too, twice. Spinks who we know as a very nice name on the record of Mike. Spinks' only defeat was by Mike Tyson. Yes McCall did beat Lennox Lewis but that was a very lucky shot and Lennox avenged that in devastating fashion. Now the argument of whether he deserves Top 5 is still very clear, it's a hard five to get in to. But "doesn't get near it" and "far from" are very much unfair, Mike was a 20 year old Boy when he beat Trevor Berbick. During that era too there were a lot of boxers underestimated by their lack of fame - whom Mike beat.
