Her demeanor seems to me to be very similar to her father. At the same time, she's a 14-year-old girl, shy and very adorable. Loved that her mother asked if the black dress made her look too old😂 I wasn’t allowed to wear a black dress until I was 18 bc it was considered to seductive 😁The eulogies to Jimmy by his nephew, Gerald Fords son and the governor were nostalgic and an amazing testimony to a life well lived and were a pleasure to listen to.

I’m a gal and 3 years older than Amy. I remember seeing pictures of her…maybe it was on the nightly news or something and being envious of the tree house (I think her dad built for her?) at the White House. I wish DL could’ve interviewed her a bit longer because she started out so shyly and was getting more comfortable at the end. When Mrs. Carter said she’d had a long life, regarding the finishing up of her autobiography, she probably never imagined herself living another 42 years to 96. She was a dear lady. Condolences to Amy and her entire family.

These dozen minutes with Amy Carter and four with her mom show how genuinely wonderful Rosalynn Carter was both as a public figure and as a parent. That combination was just as hard back then as it is today. It's also clear why Amy is there from the smile on her face when looking at Dave and from the timing of her laughter at his jokes and the joy in Rosalynn's voice when she says Amy is Letterman's number-one-fan.

We need more people like the Carters. President and Mrs. Carter returned to their hometown after his term in office was complete, to live in the same modest home they lived in previously (the last previous president to do so was Harry Truman). They’ve spent their golden years giving back to the community. Their kids seemingly have not tried to capitalize on dad’s fame in order to line their pockets, and they’ve stayed out of the spotlight. They have set a fine example for others to follow.

I LOVE how Amy's face lit-up at the sound of her mother's voice.

I'm reminded of being nearly the same age as her and how I grew up watching Letterman ... the years have flown.

I'm 60,Amy's 57.The press in 1977-80 only reported about every mistake Amy made as the First Daughter. I never knew she was so calm ,shy, or quiet. She really got a bad rap from the press when Jimmy was president. Poor kid.

I had forgotten about this interview when Mom Carter peeked in. Came up in my YT suggestions today. Wishing sweet Any peace and healing from her losses the past couple of years.

Just this past week at my high school I had new groups of students and had to do those first day of class icebreakers. I was laughing watching this video because she reminds me of my students. They are 14 and 15, the same age she was. And it was just as hard to get them to elaborate as it was for David Letterman to get Amy to do so. It’s like an interrogation, you keep asking them questions and they answer with one or two words and it’s almost impossible to get a conversation going. 🤣

The Carters...Class Act. It's unreal that Jimmy is only about 20 years older than the two candidates running next year.
