This sketch was not meant to humiliate the McGill students nor was it intended as a social satire commentary on english in Quebec. Most Quebecois could not understand what he was saying.

@karjalankannas "Je tcherche une femme pour me marier" is quite intelligible when you're fluent in Québec's national language, like McGill"s customers should be. If they were fluent in French, they would have made out more of Taschereau's speech --although maybe not all of it, I grant that to you. And there's no denying that alienation prevents most McGill customers to integrate to a French public sphere. Manipulation works on both sides, the conqueror's and the conquered's

Ce que les anglais considèrent un guetto francophone, on appelle ça une société qui a sa langue, sa culture et ses valeurs. Il n'y a pas que les anglossaxons sur la planète. à ce compte là, leas anglos vivent aussi dans un guetto puisque la Chine et l'Inde forment près de la moitié de l'humanité. Les anglos sont donc minoritaires sur la planète. Pourtant, ils ne parlent ni Mandarin, ni Hindie.
