From a 60-year old Scottish white guy living in Paris: Dave, your song Black doesn't just speak to me it opens my eyes and my soul. You, your generation, all that burning talent, brothers and sisters, let your strength and positivity wake up poor old suffering Britain from its post-Brexit bewilderment. Johnny Rotten said it first: "There is no future, in England's dreaming!" Now you and your fellow artists take up the struggle, and it will be glorious. The future is yours. PSYCHODRAMA we salute you!

@do ne no, this song is directed to the blacks who cant appreciate the blackness in them. everyone should be proud of their heritage. most blacks cannot say that they are proud and happy to be black. most blacks cannot even recognise their own heritage. "'Cause black is in your blood, and you ain't even got the heart to stop Black is steppin' in for your mother because your father's gone And standin' by your children when you haven't proven karma wrong" but you can misunderstand the lyrics and the purpose all you want, whether you want to be dumb is beyond me

Yeah just not a true lyric is it. A black man stabbed a white man to death on his birthday in front of his son at xmas for no reason other than he had mental health problems... @A A mitigation isn't a defence. Although I do understand what your saying. Mitigation is a set of circumstance to be considered in determining the extent of a persons guilt and the necessary action to be taken. Which is a valid thing to do if it is necessary. And accountability is just as important. That being said mitigation isn't as easily considered or applied to the black community due to reinforced schemas and notion burrowed deep in people's minds (all races including black people) that they belive to be inherently true - but aren't. So where a murderer - (a wife abused for years by her husband) can have her sentence quashed due to failed consideration of mental health issues after hammering the man 20 times in the head with a hammer, I'm very doubtful (I could be wrong) that the same application of mitigation would be as easily afforded to a black woman in the same circumstance. Particularly though there is a fear of the back male in society which is a historical trope. And unfortunately after 4 centuries of mental and physical abuse and taught self undervalue it's plane to see the effects of what is expected has taken hold of some black men living in poverty. The self hatred is evident. The real problem is that people think of black people synonymous with poverty - as though the two are interchangeable. Without considering why and completely ignoring factual reasons i.e historical racialised systems created to encourage social disparity of people based on race. This can be applied to class as well, but if black that disparity is compounded more so. Accountability is very important and always required - my only qualification to that is that if mitigation is necessary everyone should be afforded it fairly and in the same way. There are many studies show that there is a disproportionate treatment against black people comparatively to white people in the same or similar circumstances - probably due to the things I've mentioned above. If people do not accept this as a truth because they feel like the blame is being placed on them some how - then there will never be change . Accountability needs to happen as a collective.

But nobody divides itself if they are blonde or black, red or gray. It is wrong. We look different because we're supposed to based on location. If people made their scientific research they would understand how much we are dividing ourselves and yet we are deep down to our roots brothers and sisters. They're in love with it They take our features when they want and have their fun with it Never seem to help with all the things we know would come with it Loud in our laughter, silent in our sufferin' Black is bein' strong inside and facing defeat Poverty made me a beast, I battled the law in the streets We all struggled, but your struggle ain't a struggle like me Well how could it be when your people gave us the odds that we beat? I mean, fuckin' hell, what about our brothers that are stuck in jail? That couldn't bust a bell, they held a bird and gotta live with it Black is bein' guilty until proven that you're innocent Black is sayin', "Free my fucking niggas stuck inside in prison cells" They think it's funny, we ain't got nothin' to say to them Unconditional love is strange to them; it's amazin' 'em Black is like the sweetest fuckin' flavour, here's a taste of it But black is all I know, there ain't a thing that I would change in it

Well TiA is meant to be catchy and parodying the current rap culture whilst talking about the current events. Its meant to be catchy so more people hear it. People hate listening to music with deeper lyrics like this song - thays just most people. Obviously i love both songs

Haile Jones they are both powerful tracks BUT this one has "more substance" were Black ppl world wide can relate to the awareness and message of this track. This is just a constructive criticism I would love them both to make a track together 😕
@KingdomofKinship
@KingdomofKinship 5 жыл бұрын
@@coachTaps wrong. This is America is also rich in substance and despite it being a fairly simple song it's more the semantics between the lyrics that speak fathoms about the current plight of black people in America. Dave's song might be more universally clear as to its message but it's silly to call it "better" or "deeper" when they're two very different songs with very different meanings. Also Gambino and Dave collaborating is one of the stupidest suggestions I've heard. They are wholly different artists with wholly different vibes, they are both great at what they do.
