This is a very hot take. He calls the plays that he thinks the qb can execute. Because Bryce didn’t execute it’s a Canales sabotage? Smh he’s more professional than that.

Let alone Tepper and company liking Bryce. Do the actual players like him? Does Ickey like him? Seems like Ickey was good in 2022. Sucked in 2023 with Bryce under center. Andy started 5 games this season and Ickey played great. Yesterday not so much lol. Seems like Bryce lacks pocket awareness and doesnt know how to stay inside the pocket and not behind it being an easy target to the defense. Does Adam Thielen and Johnson like Bryce? Their body language on the field says heck no.

Can we be honest for a second? If the defense actually played good, we would be winning more games. If they do not fix the defense and try to get some pieces in the draft and free agency for the defense, this team will not progress. Bryce isnt the best but hes not the worst and Andy isnt head and shoulders better than Bryce. Maybe the first two games he started he was but not now. They both have little to work with and it shows. The playcalling is bad, the defense is the worst in league history and theres clear dysfunction within the organziation. You cant win that way and yes there are a ton of injuries for a team that didnt have much depth to begin with. Everything has gone wrong for Carolina and i call it karma. Shouldve stuck with Steve Wilkes.

Obviously Canales cant call the same plays for Andy as he does for Bryce, how are people surprised by this at all? They are different stylistically, physically, and mentally. Same as with Reich, Bryce gets the plays called for him that work most effectively in practice. That's how football works, if something looked better in practice you would see it on the field. This has nothing to do with Canales and everything to do with the quarterback
@adamramsdale2 сағат бұрын
But the problem here is he’s calling the WRONG plays for Bryce, he’s not calling plays that Bryce is good at
@DCIphanatic2 сағат бұрын
There is no plays that Bryce is good at, at least in an NFL context. He's a physically small scrambler with no elite traits. Switching to 6'2" Andy Dalton who is a natural pocket passer opens up a lot of passing plays and you see that in the playcalling. Bryce's strength is supposed to be that when plays break down he is scrambling and making magic happen... he just can't do that at this level. Canales can call bootlegs but he cannot make Bryce a better scrambler or give him the ability to become a pocket passer. Go ahead and share what plays you think Canales should call for Bryce since he called the wrong ones according to you

I don't know if the firing will happen this season, but it's clear to me Canales is not our long-term solution as coach. Not because he couldn't make Bryce work, but because the rest of the locker room doesn't believe in him. His nonsense play calling and manufactured optimism is clearly resulting in a lack of effort from our vets. Morgan's a good evaluator so far, but we're not going to be able to retain talent as long as Dave is around.

Imagine if the Lions had that same attitude towards Dan Campbell when they were the worst team in the league, barely winning any games, would they be where they are now ? This isn't an overnight success story. These things take time. A new coach needs time and experience to learn and grow and build. The QB needs time to learn and grow, and it doesn't happen when you rush and don't have everything in place to succeed which this team doesn't. The Lions didn't for a long time but they stuck with Dan Campbell, they drafted very well when they were first or second in the draft season after season and then eventually went all in on Jared Goff and Ben Johnson. It takes time. Hell Matt Rhule has the most wins of any David Tepper coaching hire. Think about that for a moment. You can't continue firing and retiring and cutting and redrafting. That's not gonna help anything until you actually are given time to develop and build a winning culture that can actually succeed.
@jacoboros9647Сағат бұрын
@@benjaminmartinez1638Fair points. I'm concerned about losing the talent we have already, but at the end of the day, if they aren't a fit for Dave's system, maybe they aren't a fit for Carolina. I personally haven't seen a lot of good signs from the culture of this new regime, but I hope they prove me wrong.

"nonsense play calling"? 😅 When Bryce young is under center our offense looks exactly the same as it did his first start here, same exact play calls. Nobody with options will take the Caronlina job if Canales is fired (that's the reason he was ultimately hired). I'm not sure how giving a young, struggling QB a fourth head coach by the time his 3rd season starts helps much. I'm a Dan Snyder survivor.. I know the signs....25 years of hiring and firing coaches, offensive/defensive scheme changes, big names free-agents, and highly-touted draft picks.... No matter what, nothing worked.. As long as David Tepper is the owner, this team will never be successful. Ya'll have a long, miserable 20 years+ ahead of you. I'm so sorry.

Why ask BY to throw a deep ball when we know he can't do so with any accuracy or power? (Or as many have suspected here, that he can't actually SEE downfield) I don't trust him throwing 15-20 yards let alone 30-40 yard bombs. This is the NFL, if you can't throw deep then you don't belong.
