You can keep your hendrixs and Claptons. Dave might not be into 5 minute solos but boy can he play. Subtle as hell in some places full on rock royalty in others. Just love the Kinks.

I've read alot about him in past two years and many people from his youth into his 20's..30's say he was very sensitive young man polite to others and sympathetic. He also was very curiously hyperactive from childhood onward. Luckily he had his music guitar as an outlet. He devoured books on different spiritualities et al. Any pic of Dave throughout the years if he is not smiling.. his eyes still sparkle.

Yes he does. Cheerful and fun. Dave always was finding new guitar sounds. Tasty leads, but also a very good acoustic rhythm guitar player. Dave’s playing gave the Kinks their quirky character. I liked his high harmony singing. And, of course, Dave’s lead vocals were rocking, but also could be ethereal, as in Living On a Thin Line. The nice kind of man to have a beer with. I enjoyed reading his book. I wish he would play a few numbers with the Kastoff Kinks. Ray originally wrote You Really Got Me on the piano. Look at what Dave did to it.

I do believe the brawling stories of Dave and Ray have grown a life of their own and agree mostly bollocks. Watch them.. even in 1990's whilst performing together several times in one song they look at one another and smile. In most pics of original band..who is standing stand by side...Ray & Dave. They're two different personalities Ray was only boy in family with several older sisters..then Dave came along. Boys will be boys. Loads of stories over decades are embellished by media.

I love the way Dave does Tired Of Waiting live. I can always go back to his Rock Bottom recording from the Bottom Line to refresh my memory. I was at Jones Beach for the Steve Jones/Kinks show. It was loud and it was fun. Jonesy was taking it seriously throughout although the yokels in the audience were not. He gave up near the end and allowed some overweight greaseball wearing a Peter Gabriel tee-shirt to sing Anarchy. It was a sufficiently awful performance. Oh the stories that 'singer' must tell.
