Man o man!! Im 55 now got 30yrs otr. BUT, what brings me bak to these great tracks is wen i was bout 5 or 6 , the ol man would pull in in his cabover pete. And be home for a few days after being on the road for 3 weeks straight .he,d make small talk qith me , at 5 my dad was 45 so .id watch him closely pull off hus boots sit at the kitchen table and reach for his wet bar right behind his seat!! Always the same bottle ,a 5th of jbavet! And a water drinking glass. He,d pour 3 fingers of the brandy, take a long well deserved sip, ahhhhh! He,d groan then? Came out the vinwl! This exact record and play it both side s enrirely for hours !! Long story short ? At 5 years old i learned sippin brandy, and this album ! Song for song ,word by word ! Entirely .as i grew older and started truckin i searched n searched for rhis duplicate .(this is WAY before any cell phones , n google ok? But i remember the times dad would roll in ,and play this album all afternoon long ! Its truelly a masterpeace ! The lyrics? If you didnt know? Ud think ol dave put in 20years otr before he wrote all these true songs .speed traps n weigh stations ....sugarland usa. Operation x . Man ! These ol truckin tunes can NEVER EVER!! be replaced .R.I.P. dad, and ol dave dudley ... killer B! 10-10 on the side.....!

Believe it or not,but Dave never drove truck. Dave Dudley had a lot of jobs in his 75 years, but truck driving was not one of them. Even though he never drove he was considered the Godfather of the trucking song genre and a hero to the drivers who did drive on the American roads.

I’m several months away from 20 years behind the wheel, it ain’t been easy ever but there’s something to it that keeps me around weather long haul or local. I remember listening to this stuff with my dad when I was little, and now I’ve got about 3 million miles under my belt.

Dave was a little off on his dates when he sang about the Korean War. He mentions 1954 as the year he served, however the conflict on the Korean peninsula and the United States involvement in said conflict covered the years 1950-1953. I’m sure Dave was just trying to make words that rhymed for song continuation. But the U.S. was not actively engaged in fighting in 1954.
