Go back in history to when HipHop n rap first started. An MC freestyled n went off the top talking about they life n Shit. But in a very simple way than as the years went on freestyling became more complex still off the dome than niggas started to write raps n kinda branch off from freestyling off the top. What he really trnna say is You ain’t an MC if you can’t freestyle off the top. It’s okay if you write ya raps. Some people was brought up to rap off the top n Some people (Like me) only knew how to write raps. For example I’m not an MC because I didn’t even know people freestyle off the top when I was little so All I knew was writing raps so I’m not an MC. Now you have some people who can’t write but can go off the dome cause that’s all they knew. That’s why every MC/Rapper needs to go back to HipHops roots n understand the history. We can train to rap off the dome just like people who rap off the dome can train to write raps. Remember freestylin was first off the dome than that’s when Freestylin went to the pen. Difference between making a song with the pen n freestylin with the pen.

Well Dave East style is very freestyle compatible. They way he rhymes is very... I guess structured as in he legit just rhymes. When rappers start getting into versatility and melodies freestyle becomes slightly more difficult and so they may choose to take their time and write it out. But once you write it you must memorizing thus forming. Sort of synthesis between the freestyling elements and the written word aspect, otherwise the flow won't sound right
