I went to high school with Dave - he was always a funny and all around good guy. When I found out a few years back that not only does he work for Lucas Films, but is quite influential in the Star Wars Universe, I felt (and feel) so proud of him. He knows what fans wants from STAR WARS. If they don't give him to direct at least one movie, I will never forgive them that. If people,like my self are so excited to see animated character brought to screen, how amazing would it be to get that in live action movies,with some characters. He is a guy who knows what STAR WARS Fans wants,and he is not afraid to take risks and bring some new and original stuff in STAR WARS Canon. If he made me emotional in last season 2 Rebels episode, and he made that episode better than 40% of the movies,I just couldn't imagine what that guy can pull out with LIVE-ACTION movie

What fans want always sounds like menu items, it's often used by it's detractors as something derogatory, like catering to fans. But good Star Wars is mystery, deep lore, characters that are on a journey that you can relate to. Everything the last 2 movies missed. And that's what fans actually want and Filoni knows.

I've always viewed Dave as George's padawan. During 6 seasons of Clone Wars he became a knight, then when George retired It's like Dave became the new master. Now he's making shows of his own. I've always admired him. Not just because he's talented, but because of his love for the community and the story of Star Wars. I love George, truly I do, but I don't think he's ever had the personality for communicating with fans like Dave does. One of my other favorite things about Dave is how he loves both trilogies. He looks at them as one story and doesn't bash any of it because he truly loves it. He's one of the only official people I know who openly talks about his love for the prequel trilogy. He's also never been shy about expressing his love for the prequel fans too. Wish the big screen directors could be awesome like that. Revenge of the Sith was my first introduction to Star Wars. To this day it's my favorite star wars film. I've met tons of cool people who share my excitement and passion, but I've also met plenty who don't. It feels good to know that we have someone like Dave. If I'm being honest he's one of the few creators I trust at Disney right now. I know when Dave works on a project it'll get done right. I had been under the impression that Disney was avoiding the Clone Wars era. When They cancelled the show, and didn't include Clone Wars in the new Battlefront I remember being heartbroken. But after seeing Ahsoka, Rex and Saw Gerrera in Rebels and Rouge One, and hearing rumors about more, I feel like I can hope for the future. Also proud to see the Clone Wars characters on the big screen! That crew worked so hard so I hope it brings them joy! Thank you for everything you do Dave! Also hope you get to direct some future films!

So appreciative of what Dave has done for the Star Wars universe. My generation of movies are the prequels and I absolutely love them but what Dave did with Clone Wars really expanded on those movies. In fact, when I think of Anikan or Obi Wan, I think of the animated versions. And the clone wars made me feel that emotional connection with those iconic Star Wars characters. Star Wars is so very important to me and I hate that it is no longer is George's hands but it makes me feel like things are going to be ok as long as Dave is involved. Thank you Dave!

Dave Filoni has an authenticity and personal passion and commitment so pure to the storytelling that truly, only someone like Dave could have absorbed and internalized the original vision that George Lucas had. The permeation and appreciation of all external arts and humanities really bleeds through into his understanding and interpretation that makes presenting out the Star Wars Story just a second nature. His references to Star Trek, Empire of the Sun, and his observations of the human emotional range is evident in how he interpreted and presented SW Rebels and now The Mandalorian. Going back to these recorded conversations with him is a great touchstone.

WHY WASN'T HE IN CHARGE OF THE SEQUELS!! Literally any clone wars/rebels/Mando episode is better than any of the three sequel movies!
@scotthunt42064 жыл бұрын
Based on what he says in the BTS series for Mando even HE wasn't convinced that he was ready to direct live action so I'm not surprised that they went with established film directors. But not placing him in a lead position on outlining a 3 film story BEFORE hiring those established directors was a fatal flaw in Kathy's "plan" for the sequels. If ANYONE was going to lead the "Lucasfilm Story Group" it HAD to be Dave if their intent truly was to do "something for the fans" like they told George when they jettisoned HIS outline.

What an amazing interviewer. Gives Filoni all the time in the world to answer great questions.
