This is a video of a Howard Hughes H-1 Racer electric powered R/C scale model, masterfully built by Martin Robinson, and expertly flown by David Stubbs. Martin scratch-built the model in 2005 from Bob Holman plans. Construction is mostly wood with fiberglass cowl and 3-mil aluminum film covering the fuse. The model has a 60.5 inch wingspan, weighs 8 lbs with a wing loading of ~25 oz/sq ft. Dave gets about 4:30 minutes of flight time using an APC 14x7 e-prop with a 5S 5000mAh lipo battery (note, the end of video references 6S battery but in fact cell count was 5S not 6S). Dave made some impressive speed passes then ended flight with a greaser landing, absolutely butter smooth.
