Jack Merrit (25) who he mentions at the end of the video, along with a girl called Saskia Jones (23) were stabbed and killed by a terrorist in London whilst working at an event helping prisoners and ex prisoners back towards or into society again and getting a fair second chance, also helped appeal for cases and stuff. I think Jack even helped Daves brothers case who is serving a 18 year sentence. Little more context for you bro. I recommended this on the heart attack video. I'm a white man from Northern England but for context this was from the Brits, our grammy's, and it made a massive cultural impact. There were plenty of complaints from old white people complaining it was racist but a lot of people in my position were able to hear such a raw demonstration of what it meant to be black in Britain. I think this will eventually be referenced as one of the most important performances on British TV with the lyrics offering so much to unravel and learn from
@stellacorbally1772 жыл бұрын
Yep, I'm Irish and it provides so much context for things we're mostly ignorant to, simply because it's not something we have to think about in daily lives. This and Ghetts - Black Rose we're both excellent in that regard.

This years performance isn't anything like Black because it's not as hard hitting or emotional, but it was still one of the best performances I've seen at the brits ever.The fact that he had all of those under appreciated less well known real 'street' rappers ' to ppl on that stage killin it made it a moment.The Brits are slowly but surely changing from seriously outta touch with what us normal wee ppl wanna see, into a less snobby more for the ppl kinda awards show.Dave is changing the game with his talent for educating without bein borin preachy or aggressive, but also for helping pave the way for so many others in the future xxx

Finally!!!! I must’ve been requesting this for over a year lol!!! Knew you’d love this performance Scru, it’s really really special!!! I’m a white Scottish woman and haven’t faced any of the challenges that Dave describes, but this track makes me cry every single time - and I must listen to it at least once a day, for the last couple of years! It makes me ashamed of my country and disgusted that people can treat others in such a disgusting way, all because of their skin tone and area they’re from. I know that I’ll never fully understand, but as long as we have people like Dave educating us all in this way, I can only hope it brings us closer as a nation. You’ll love ‘in the fire’ - this was Dave’s Brit awards performance from this year (only 4 or 5 weeks ago). It’s more like a cypher with a couple of the absolute OG’s in the game - Ghetts and Giggs! Fredo and Meekz also have a verse each and everyone kills it!!!

This song brings me to tears every time. For recommendations, I'll stick to songs with videos: - *Question Time* (topically the most similar to Black; he addresses the song directly to the Prime Minister) - *Hangman* - *Two Birds No Stones* - *Verdansk* - *Cassius Clay* (technically he's a feature on this one, but the entire song is amazing and he kills his half) There are so, so many more incredible songs without videos. These barely scratch the surface, but they're a good start.

If you judge somebody because of this then ask your mum and dad what a school is and ask for directions if they are able comprehend what your asking. Education is emancipation🤞

As a 100% British born, I remember the first time I listened to this song I felt it on a very deep level without actual reasoning, but it brought light on an everhappening situation... Dave is an absolute legend at such a young age, using his music for good as he should
