He brought a lot of happiness to a lot of listeners. For me it was a “A jolly good show” on the BBC World Service. I always tuned in on short wave listening to the latest hits and some jolly talk. It was a connection with England. Makes you a little homesick but was necessary for sanity.

The Hairy Monster , the best DJ ever to actually talk serious and camp whilst multitasking playing records, I remember driving back home from Scarborough back to Halifax totally engrossed in his final live broadcast

I have DLT to thank for finding videos of Sharon Tandy performing on German TV. He was one of the best DJs of his generation. Made a scapegoat. Saw him in Ikea Milton Keynes a few years ago. I wish I had gone over and said hello but he was with his wife and I didn't want to bother him.

DLT was one of the joys of Radio One back in the day it had millions of listeners. He was always a big, tactile character but unfortunately didn't see the arrival of the highly charged, PC, compensation culture.

I remember also listening to DLT on Magic AM, in 2012, just before his life was changed forever and he was taken off the airwaves. He played a track by Deniece Williams - Its Gonna Take A Miracle, which I'd never heard before and when I listen to it, I always think of where I first heard it played - on DLT's Sunday morning show on Magic.

Society and the cowardly authorities don't know how to handle the perverted form of justice that pervades our lives today.. People so afraid not to do 'The right thing' as they perceive it to be. Common sense then takes a back-seat. DLT has to be one of THE best DJ's out there and I owe him a lot of love. Brought me the greatest sounds I ever enjoyed. Thanks Mr T.

He used to have a section of his show where he had ambiguous lyrics with a story attached which you had to work out, on a Saturday and the answer the following week (from memory). I remember to this day a long story which had me thinking all week for the answer Colin Lands 2 pence on Inter Planner Terry's Craft.. No prizes for guessing which song..

With DLT about to return to the airwaves on United DJ's, why are the bastions of "fairness, anti-discrimination and bias" known as the BBC, still continuing to "airbrush" him from TOTP repeats on BBC Four? We are about to see 1982 again from next week, with his editions STILL absent from the re-runs. In my (and a fair few others') opinion, there is no continued justification for this stance by the BBC. Do they not realise they also acting unlawfully discriminating against someone who has a "spent" conviction?
@vordman6 жыл бұрын
DLT has been treated abysmally. The BBC are hypocrites. Others who have committed far more serious offences, Boy George for kidnapping and imprisonment, Leslie Grantham a murderer, are still shown on BBC.

Loved DLT . Jumped ship before Mathew Bannister sacked him . Amazing piece of Radio when he left on air . Smashie & Nicey were funny because it was true .We all listened or knew DJ'S who were dated & stuck in a loop . The great cull of radio 1 was TEN years too late . Thus watching Top Of The Pops in 1982 the radio 1 guys were there in the crowd looking like their dad or favorite uncle .Shame really because they sound great on radio but look old on TV .
